Chapter 39
He walked up to the executioner and took a piece of meat from his hand, sniffing it before putting it in his mouth. He savored it slowly, chewing with relish.
"You beast, you're not human, you're a beast!" Yuan Shuai and Li Nan shouted at him. The two Pakistani men had already started vomiting loudly. This was indeed an inhuman act that no ordinary person could commit.
"Do you understand what I'm saying? This world is all about the survival of the fittest. Don't you eat meat? Ah, I know you'll say you don't eat human flesh. But it's your so-called justice that has deprived us of our right to survive. We've lost our homes, we've lost our loved ones. My son was only five years old, and he was very smart. But a cannonball blew him to pieces. And now you're telling me I'm a beast?"
The executioner looked at Yuan Shuai with surprise, seemingly impressed by his bravery.
"You Chinese special forces are indeed extraordinary," he said. "I don't want to kill you anymore. You've piqued my interest. Let's see whose skills are harder, yours or mine."
Yuan Shuai smiled wryly. "I think that phenomenon will change soon."
The executioner chuckled. "Others have said the same before, but they didn't count. They disappointed me."
"We Chinese people always keep our word," Yuan Shuai said, staring into his eyes. "Including my promise to break your neck."
The executioner laughed. "I'm waiting for you. Take him away and put him in solitary confinement."
The so-called solitary confinement was just a deep well with waist-deep water that reeked of rotting flesh. The air was thick with the stench, and there were giant centipedes crawling everywhere, their bodies as long as snakes. It seemed many people had been thrown into this well before, and now they had grown so big and fat. Now another victim had come, exciting them to crawl all over his body, sucking his blood greedily.
Yuan Shuai's hands and feet were bound, leaving him helpless against the centipedes' slow invasion of his body. The pain was excruciating, like a thousand needles pricking his skin, but he couldn't move or escape.
