Chapter 18: Yazid VI

  Chapter Eighteen Yazid VI

A bright moon rises, illuminating the small path in the midst of the forest, as if it were daytime.

Taking advantage of the moonlight, Hassan returned with a full load. His guards had boxes of ammunition on their shoulders.

Zhang Yongjun provided 500 assault rifles and an additional one million rounds of ammunition.

Shouldering a heavy wooden box, the Azerbaijani was full of energy. Inside were brand new guns that had never been used before.

These weapons, if used in a concentrated manner, would certainly make the National Army's most powerful troops.

Having walked out of the mercenary's warning range, a guard captain couldn't bear the joy in his heart. He said to Hassan: "General, you're really something! Over a thousand brothers risked their lives and only got a dozen or so guns in return. But you took one trip and not only were you treated to good food and drink by the Chinese, but they also gave you 500 brand new guns."

Hassan heard his subordinates praising him so much, and he couldn't help but feel a little proud. Later, he looked around nervously and knew that they had entered the activity area of his guerrilla team. He then laughed loudly: "It's not me who is capable, it's just that the Chinese are too kind-hearted and can't withstand tear gas attacks!"

"General, how did you know they would send us weapons? And even called the entire guard squadron. If it weren't for today, with so many people coming, I'd be worried about how to return the weapons. Haha..."

"Haha...... You've read history books, don't you know the character of Chinese people? They particularly value loyalty and don't hold grudges."

The Japanese who slaughtered 34 million Chinese, this hatred is huge. After the war, China not only voluntarily gave up demanding war reparations, but also returned the four northern islands to Japan.

How much Chinese property did we seize last year? How many Chinese people were slaughtered? Yet, to this day, they do not call it a bloody massacre, but instead use milder terms - anti-Chinese riots.

At first, I thought the mercenaries would behave differently from the Chinese government. Now it seems that as long as they are Chinese, they are all the same. They prioritize loyalty and saving face, even if it means putting themselves at a disadvantage, just to avoid being criticized by others. They only remember others' kindness, but never their grievances.

Djilawang, you must remember that when dealing with Chinese people, when you are strong, you can plunder them, oppress them, treat them as your slaves, their gold and silver, houses, women, all can be considered your own property.

When you are weak, don't be afraid. Chinese people won't hold grudges. You don't need to accompany gifts or apologize. Just say a few soft words and the Chinese will almost give their women, silver, and gold to you... In Chinese history, there was a Song Dynasty, and this dynasty's name revealed the nature of the Chinese people.

"After being defeated, Chinese people would send gifts to comfort the enemy; after winning a battle, China still had to send wealth and women to comfort the enemy."

The guards were shocked and amazed, it was too unbelievable, being an ordinary Chinese citizen is really scary.

Hassan has just achieved a great diplomatic victory, and now that he's explained it, he will sort out his chaotic understanding of the Chinese people in his mind and turn it into a clear theory.

This theory, Hassan ultimately summed up in just six words - Chinese people are sheep. Thinking to himself, how to make good use of this sheep, and wait for the day when he would slaughter it and eat its meat.

Just as he was getting into it, spittle flying everywhere, Hasan suddenly heard a question.

This rhetorical question came from the captain of the guard, although it was spoken in a tone of infinite admiration, but when heard by Hassan, it was like a basin of cold water poured over his head.

"General, why did the mercenaries kill more than a thousand of our brothers?"

Yes, why? From this matter, the bloody and cruel nature of mercenaries is not consistent with the traditional habits of Chinese people at all.

"Who's there?" Suddenly, a voice shouted from among the guards.

Upon hearing the warning, five guards dropped the wooden boxes on their shoulders and chased after them with guns.

A few minutes later, the searching guards returned and reported to Hassan that it seemed like someone was peeking just now. When they chased after, no one was found, only a human-shaped nest was discovered in the bushes...

  Who is watching himself?

His own boss? A Javanese person? Or a mercenary's person? If it was a mercenary's person, then he was in trouble... Hassan felt a chill run down his spine.

He ordered the guard troops to speed up their march and return to the camp early.

The one who was eavesdropping on Hassan was a mercenary soldier, a special forces operative sent out by the entourage. The soldier used a long-distance directional microphone to record every word of Hassan's conversation.

This South Hua Federation-made spy product was used for the first time in Aceh today and achieved a remarkable feat.

With this warrior's skills, Hassan's guards would never have discovered they were being followed.

The warrior only heard Hassan being so arrogant and contemptuous towards the Chinese, making him hate it so much that his teeth were itching, and unknowingly, his teeth clicked together, making a cracking sound, which was heard by the Acehnese.

This warrior, originally a special soldier under Sun Erhu's command, was skilled in legwork and ran swiftly through the jungle, as fast as a rabbit. Hasan's guards couldn't catch up with him.

Having shaken off the Acehnese, they returned to the mountain road and in half an hour they were back at the temporary military camp. When Hasan's words resounded in the temporary command post, everyone who heard them changed color.

Zhang Yongjun was furious and ordered his guard squad to assemble. He wanted to personally lead the team to capture Hassan back.

Wang Hui blocked his way, coldly saying: "Brother, when Indonesians are indifferent to others' lives, they will be even more indifferent to their own people's lives. In their eyes, human life is like grass."

Hassan, as one of the main military leaders of Aceh, had seen his fair share of life and death; the deaths of over a thousand people did not move him to tears, so why was he crying so hard now? There must be some trickery involved.

"Lu Chang guessed he was pretending, what did we learn from this?"

"War is the ultimate use of violence."

War is the maximum use of violence just short of the limit of what is possible is an important view in "On War".

"...the maximum use of violence is in no way incompatible with the simultaneous use of intelligence, and therefore a belligerent who uses every means at his disposal without being deterred by humanitarian considerations will, other things being equal, gain an advantage over his opponent who is more restrained. This will tend to force the latter also to abandon his scruples."

The Acehnese are now allies but essentially enemies; everyone present understands this, and the Acehnese understand it too.

To weaken future enemies, both sides played all the tricks. The Acehnese stole weapons, why not steal from the Javanese, but instead stole from their allies? Behind this, who dares to say that the Acehnese are not sinister?

Hasan mourned the spirits, was it really for the thousand or more people who died? No. Indonesians are many, in his heart, these thousand or more people were not worth a few guns.

His real intention is to borrow our kindness to demand a batch of weapons.

On one hand, he was building himself up, on the other hand, weakening his opponent. However, he did not think that the current Nanhua military would see through his thoughts.

This time he got a hundred guns, but his true purpose was also exposed in front of the mercenaries.

From now on, he will no longer be able to take advantage of the kindness of Chinese people.

Gained practical benefits, lost moral integrity, still one word - lose.

Every view in Clausewitz's "On War" is not a dogma, but a lesson condensed from human blood.

Mercy will only bring failure to oneself.

Another purpose of doing so is to weaken the Aceh National Army through the hands of the Javanese.

The Indonesians are greedy beyond compare, for the sake of grabbing the spoils of war, they completely disregard their own strength.

But the gap in strength is obvious, and there are also clear-headed people among the Acehnese. Now that they have these weapons, their confidence will skyrocket, and they will launch an attack on the regular Indonesian army.

This will also ensure that none of the guns sent out, along with the dozen or so stolen ones, will become weapons used against mercenaries in the future.

Is it cruel and vicious? Is it ruthless? War has always been like this. If you are not ruthless enough, the only thing waiting for you is death.

War is actually no different from fighting with street thugs, it's just a matter of who is more ruthless. Whoever is the most ruthless is the king, and those who are not ruthless enough can only bow their heads and become slaves.

As Clausewitz defined war, a figurative analogy - War is merely the continuation of combat.

Beiya Qizhen town, although it is called a county town, but that city wall, absolutely not the ancient China's kind of giant stone piled up into a square shape.

This is a ring-shaped defensive work made of sand, stone, earth bags and wood, with a height of less than two meters. The inside of the city wall is quite flat, while the outside is a crisscross of trenches and barbed wire.

The moat outside these city walls is where Indonesian commander Colonel Pramono concentrated his troops.

The Azizi dare-to-die squad easily tore open a gap in the north-facing city wall, then fired three red signal flares into the sky. The two infantry divisions responsible for receiving them immediately sprang into action, shouting as they charged forward.

Colonel Paramo's defensive layout on the northern front was extremely weak, with a depth of less than one kilometer and few strongpoints, only about thirty.

If it were another army, a barrage of artillery would have flattened the place. However, the Acehnese National Army, lacking in artillery, found it difficult to advance even against such a weak defensive line.

The Aces only thought of making a concerted effort, responding to the inside and outside, killing into the county town, and concentrating two divisions of troops on the northern line less than five kilometers away.

Moreover, the advancing troops also surged forward in a chaotic manner, appearing to be a spectacular human wave tactic on the surface, but in reality, they were nothing more than cannon fodder against the Javanese machine guns and barbed wire.

Enemy machine gunners, with their eyes closed, can mow down the Azizi people in batches. The firepower spewing out of those machine guns is like the rolling knives of a combine harvester, wherever it presses, the wheat there will fall in batches.

The Acehnese were bloodshot-eyed, shouting "Long live!", "Independence forever!", "Freedom forever!" as they trampled over the bodies of their comrades and charged forward bravely.

When encountering barbed wire, they didn't dodge or retreat. Instead, they used their bodies to press forward, one by one, two by two, a whole squad if necessary, until the barbed wire was completely pressed into the ground, paving a bloody path for their comrades behind them.

Such warriors, such bravery is truly astonishing to the world.
