Dig three feet underground

Dig three feet into the ground

  "Bang bang bang......"

The heavy knocking sound started, no one answered, only the sound of water in the bathroom.

The knocking grew louder and the door shook with each blow, accompanied by a shout.

"Open the door! Open the door!" a voice cried out.

"Who is it?" came Yi Xiaodao's indistinct voice amidst the sound of running water in the bathroom.

  "Police!"

"What's going on? Didn't you just come over?"

"Open up! Police!" The policeman outside shouted impatiently.

"What case are you looking for? I'm taking a bath..." Yi Xiaodao replied calmly.

"We are from the homicide unit, open the door immediately!" This time it was another voice, and Yi Xiaodao knew at once that it was the policeman who had been giving orders downstairs earlier.

"Go! Wait a minute, I'm coming!" Then there was a splash of water.

Yi Xiao Dao turned off the faucet, grabbed a towel to wrap around his lower body, and took another towel to wipe his hair as he walked out of the bathroom.

"Open the door! Open it quickly!" The impatient policeman knocked on the door again and raised his vigilance.

"Here." Yi Xiaodao opened the door with just his upper body exposed.

There were four plainclothes outside the door, and the household across the street also had their door knocked open. One of them stood at the door looking around, while the other three were at Yixiaodao's door, one of whom even put his hand on the gun holster at his waist.

Seeing Yi Xiaodao open the door, a plainclothes officer said: "We are from the Major Crimes Unit. We suspect that a suspect is hiding in this building and for your safety, we need to search your room."

Yi Xiaodao looked at him with a suspicious gaze, wiping his hair while saying: "Just now the police came to check our ID, at least they were still wearing uniforms. Now you're coming to catch suspects, but you're not even wearing uniforms, how do I know if you're real or fake?"

"I'm Detective Zhao Zhenglin of the Major Crimes Unit, this is my ID." The plainclothes officer behind him pulled out his badge and handed it to Yi Xiaodao. Yi Xiaodao realized he was the leader and couldn't help but take a closer look.

Yi Xiaodao took over the documents and looked at them back and forth for more than ten seconds before returning them to Qiao Zhenglin.

Qiao Zhenglin put away his work permit and asked: "What's your name?"

"Easy Xiao Dao." Easy Xiao Dao continued wiping his hair and casually asked: "Do you have a search warrant?"

One of them said in a low voice: "Of course there is—"

Qiao Zhenglin immediately raised his hand to stop him, saying: "No. But the suspect we are chasing is armed and extremely dangerous. We hope to catch her as soon as possible so that the crowd can be at ease as soon as possible. I hope you can cooperate with us."

Yi Xiaodao raised his head, and his eyes met with Qiao Zhenglin for a moment. He immediately felt that this person was not simple. His eyes were deep and profound, but seemed to contain enormous energy.

Qiao Zhenglin was also moved, and from his eyes, he could see that the other party was not an ordinary person. Yi Xiaodao's eyes were a bit empty, but they revealed a power that could control everything. If it wasn't for the fact that the murderer had already been confirmed to be a woman, he would have suspected Yi Xiaodao of being the murderer. Even so, this person named Yi Xiaodao should still be given special attention.

"Please." Yi Xiaodao stepped aside, clearing a path.

Qiao Zhenglin walked into the room, and the other two plainclothesmen followed, pulling out their guns and beginning to search.

"But it's best not to touch my things." Yi Xiaodao tossed the towel in his hand onto the chair and sat down on the sofa, watching the plainclothes police search around with an air of nonchalance.

One plainclothesman had just crawled out from under the bed and was now diving into the closet; another had just pulled his head back in from the window and was now taking an interest in the narrow space under the sofa. The guns in their hands pointed east and west, as if any place could produce a murderer at any moment.

Only Qiao Zhenglin looked calm, pacing slowly in the center of the room while scanning the entire space. He knew a professional killer wouldn't hide under the bed, that was too uncreative.

"Do you live alone?" Qiao Zhenglin asked casually, standing by the shoe cabinet at the door.

"Uh-huh." Yi Xiaodao naturally knew what Qiao Zhenglin wanted to ask, and continued: "You want to know why there are women's shoes? Those were my girlfriend's. We broke up, and she left a few pairs of old shoes behind."

Qiao Zhenglin squatted down in front of the shoe cabinet and suddenly asked: "How long haven't these shoes been moved?"

Yi Xiaodao's reaction was swift, and upon hearing this, he smiled lightly and said, "Shoes are worn every day, of course they will move around."

"But your girlfriend's shoes won't move on their own, will they?" Qiao Zhenglin seemed to have caught a glimpse of something.

Yi Xiaodao's heart tightened, but he said lightly: "Officer, if you like collecting women's shoes, I can give them all to you, no need to beat around the bush."

Qiao Zhenglin was hit by a blunt object and just as he was about to speak, a faint noise suddenly came from the top of his head, flashing and then disappearing immediately.

Two plainclothesmen reflexively straightened up, their gun barrels uniformly aimed at the ceiling. This was a uniform suspended ceiling adopted by all farmhouses, with white panels printed with leaf outlines that looked artistic but were actually the cheapest on the market, and would fall off in a layer of white dust with just a slight touch.

Qiao Zhenglin's attention was also attracted by this faint sound, and he had just raised his head when a piece of white ash floated down, covering his entire head and face. If he hadn't closed his eyes in time, he would have been blinded.

Qiao Zhenglin lowered his head to shake off the dust on his face, slowly stood up, and stared at the cheap ceiling above. Undoubtedly, the sound was coming from above his head. But he also felt puzzled, could someone hide on this kind of ceiling?

He cast his gaze at Yi Xiaodao, but Yi Xiaodao looked back at him with a relaxed expression, as if he hadn't heard the sound at all.

Qiao Zhenglin's heart skipped a beat as his intuition told him that there must be something fishy going on here, because this half-naked man was too calm.

At this time, the tall plainclothes by the door had finished searching and saw that his colleague on this side hadn't come out for a long time, so he also walked in. Qiao Zhenglin gave him a signal with his eyes, and the tall plainclothes took out his pistol, quietly cocked it, and aimed at the ceiling above Qiao Zhenglin's head.

Qiao Zhenglin knelt on his left knee, with his right knee bent at a 90-degree angle. The tall man in casual clothes had one foot on Qiao Zhenglin's right leg and, with a sudden movement, the other foot was already on top of the shoe cabinet. Although the shoe cabinet was made of solid wood, it couldn't withstand the weight of the muscular giant, swaying twice with a creaking sound.

"Hey, don't mess up my shoe cabinet!" Yi Xiaodao shouted, his unbridled yelling forming a stark contrast with the tense expressions of the plainclothesmen.

The tall plainclothes didn't bother with him, making an effort to stand steady, his right hand holding a gun, his left hand slowly reaching up towards a ceiling tile. The other two plainclothes also aimed their guns at the same spot, ready to open fire at any moment if something happened.

Qiao Zhenglin took two steps back and also drew out his handgun. The sound of him releasing the safety was like a command, and the tall plainclothes officer pushed open the ceiling tile above his head with one palm. He swept his gun to the left, but there was no one; he swept it to the right, still no one; he swept it forward, again no one; behind him was just a wall.

His movements were extremely swift, and in the span of a second, he had already changed his target three times. The ceiling that was struck open by him finally fell onto the suspended ceiling beside it, making a loud crashing sound, and another piece of white ash fell down.

At the same time, a series of sounds came from the ceiling, circling around the entire roof for more than half a circle, and the air was filled with dust.

"Whoa!" Yi Xiaodao exaggeratedly leaned back.

Qiao Zhenglin, however, did not dare to be careless and continued to give the tall plainclothes a signal with his eyes. The tall plainclothes stretched his neck and stuck his head into the ceiling board. If there was a murderer hiding on the ceiling, his head would bloom in the darkness above.

However, with the light shining through the gaps and openings in the ceiling, the tall man suddenly found that the ceiling was empty, about half a meter high between the ceiling and the roof. The frame for installing the ceiling was only suspended by several thin iron wires. Not to mention hiding a person, even placing something slightly heavy would cause the entire ceiling to collapse.

But a black object not far from him caught his attention, and when he finally saw it clearly, he let out a sigh of relief, withdrew his head, and jumped down to the ground.

Qiao Zhenglin also realized it was a false alarm, and while putting away his gun, he asked: "What's going on?"

"Damn it, a big rat!" The tall plainclothes policeman put away his gun with a scowl, still shaken. If the rat had been the black muzzle of a gun instead, he would have been killed on the spot.

Yi Xiaodao stood up from the sofa and loudly protested: "Hey, help me fix the ceiling!"

Qiao Zhenglin ignored him and walked through the living room towards the bathroom.
