Chapter 4 The Initial Appearance of Electronic Warfare
It seemed that Sokolov and Akhromeyev's residence was not close, Chu Si Nan followed behind Gilnylova for more than ten minutes before arriving at a place that was probably originally some kind of factory, the area was very large, but now it was filled with tanks undergoing maintenance.
At the entrance, two armed guards blocked their way. After Jill Nielson stepped forward to negotiate with them, one of the guards turned around and ran inside, apparently to report back.
"Let's wait, the guard here is very strict, it's to prevent any destructive elements from sneaking in." Zhil'nirov turned around and smiled at Chusnan, this was the first time she had spoken to him during this period of time. It wasn't surprising though, this familiar Chinese man had brought her too many shocks, a man without military rank, yet wearing a high-level guard badge, and from what he said, it was even given by Stalin himself. In the eyes of today's Soviet people, Stalin was a god-like existence.
Chu Si Nan could naturally feel the estrangement between them. He wanted to dissolve this estrangement, but he didn't know where to start.
"Oh, God, let me see who suddenly appeared in front of me!" In the silence between the two, a surprised voice came from the front, and then Akhromeyev's figure jumped out from inside the door and almost instantly flashed to Chusnan's side.
"Comrade Chu Si Nan, how did you end up here?" Behind Akhromeyev, Sokolov followed closely, but this tank army colonel was obviously much more composed, with a smile on his face, he extended his hand to Chu Si Nan.
"I'll come and inspect your military bearing and discipline, see if it meets the requirements." Chu Si Nan said with a handshake.
"Haha, what's wrong, are you deserting?" Akhromeyev didn't shake hands with Chu Nan, he had his own way of expressing emotions - a warm hug. "I heard that your 88th Brigade is fighting in Leningrad."
"Yes, I forgot to ask just now," perhaps infected by someone else's emotions, Zhil'nikova seemed a bit more relaxed at this moment, she leaned in curiously and asked, "You didn't go with the 88th Brigade to Leningrad, how did you end up with..."
"It's not easy to explain the situation here for a while," Chu Si Nan was worried that she would mention that dreaded name, so before she could finish speaking, he hastily said, "Comrade Sokolov, if I'm not mistaken, this should be your place, right? Friends have come, can't you just follow the rules of hospitality and arrange a quieter place for us to chat?"
"Of course," Sokolov nodded and then said, "Come on, let's go in, to my room, it's quiet there, don't worry about being disturbed."
A few people talking walked through the gate and headed towards the back of the empty lot filled with tanks.
"Huh, Comrade Sokolov, are these all yours?" Chu Si Nan looked at the thickly armored "killing machines" one by one, smacking his lips, then pointed to a few parked not far away and said, "Isn't that a T-34? How come you're only equipped with so few?"
"Heh, a few of these are already not bad, actually now each group's tank troops, at most are equipped with fifteen vehicles, no more than that." Sokolov shrugged his shoulders, saying somewhat regretfully. "And this big fellow is also not very advantageous when fighting against the German army, at most it can only be used for a few rounds of shooting and then retreat, the tactical strategy of sudden attack is not suitable for it."
"Yes," Chu Si Nan nodded in deep agreement, then said without any hesitation, "The mobility is poor, and since it's not equipped with a radio, it's indeed unsuitable for combat in this environment now, command will be very difficult."
Sokolov's body shook, he turned his head and looked at Chu Si Nan in incredulity. After a long while, he exclaimed in surprise: "Comrade Chu Si Nan, I'm getting more and more unable to see through you! How did you know there was no radio inside the tank? This is a military secret that's strictly forbidden from being leaked outside, where did you get this information from?"
Chu Si Nan only then remembered, the weakness of the T-34 tank was originally a secret in the Soviet army, and it wasn't until later that it was exposed by the Germans. In battle, the Soviets even used flag signals to command these clumsy but durable tanks.
Chu Si Nan could only shrug and remain silent, as it was not easy to explain. Meanwhile, Gil'nei Lo Va gave Sokolov a subtle glance, hinting that he should stop asking questions. It seemed that this female lieutenant comrade thought Chu Si Nan was a high-ranking official who had to keep his identity secret, which was why she could learn about these military secrets.
Sokolov caught the glance from the female lieutenant, although he didn't know what it meant, but he tactfully stopped asking and directly let several people into his room.
"Comrade Akhromeyev, how have you been lately? The battle has been going smoothly, hasn't it?" After everyone had taken their seats, Chu Si Nan looked at Akhromeyev and asked with a smile, "In just over a month's time, you've already been promoted to lieutenant colonel. Not bad, huh."
Akromeyev smiled faintly, but a hint of spiritedness involuntarily revealed itself between his eyebrows.
"Haha, actually he should thank you more this time. If it wasn't for your reminder, he wouldn't have had the chance to gain merit from this battle." Sokolov said with a smile, without any reserve.
"Oh, what's going on?" Chu Si Nan asked curiously.
"It was what we said the last time we parted," Akhromeyev explained, "Others may not believe it, but I absolutely believed you. Later when the war broke out, I kept an eye on it and led my men to ambush the German army from behind and eventually eliminated them."
"But in this battle, he also took a great risk," Gil'nir continued, "If there were no merits to be displayed and his guesses were not entirely correct, then what he would face would not be rewards and promotions, but being sent to the military court as a deserter."
Chu Si Nan nodded, this Ahkremyev was indeed not simple, had the courage and vision, and such a person in the army was like a nail hidden in a sack, would eventually come out.
"Right, Comrade Sokolov," Akhromeyev's experience made Chu Si Nan's eyes light up, he turned his head to say to Sokolov, "As far as I know, our T-34 has an advantage when facing German tanks, except for not being equipped with a radio, and inconvenient command, in terms of armor thickness and firepower, it is superior to the German ones."
"That's all well and good," Sokolov nodded, "but the problem is that in a large-scale tank battle like this one, a single command oversight can lead to a complete collapse of the entire front, so..."
"Have you ever thought of putting the command tactics of both our side and the enemy's on the same level, and then engage in battle?" Chu Si Nan said.
"What do you mean..." Sokolov asked in confusion.
"My point is, since we don't have the upper hand in radio command, let's make the German army lose this advantage. Let's all engage in a chaotic battle and see who's more powerful!" Chu Si Nan said excitedly, having already decided to apply electronic warfare tactics to the current situation.
