Three Trainings

  Three trainings

Under Yang Sicheng's repeated requests, Ivan finally agreed to teach him how to be a sniper, so every day Yang Sicheng would go to his house during Ivan's free time.

Yvan patiently explained various professional terms to him, such as bore line, magnification, wind deflection, taught him to draw battlefield sketches, how to measure distance, how to survive in the wild, how to camouflage, how to set traps and anti-traps, how to advance stealthily, how to choose a mobile route, how to choose a more favorable terrain for entering the position and safe withdrawal.

This content is indeed a bit difficult for an ordinary 8-year-old child, but fortunately, Yang Sicheng's family was born into a hunting family, and his father taught him a lot of knowledge about hunting when he was very young. In addition to Ivan not just stopping at the oral teachings, he often gave lectures in the morning and then went with him to practice in the mountains in the afternoon. As a result, Yang Sicheng made rapid progress, and even Ivan couldn't help but praise his talent.

Yang Sicheng had the habit of getting up early to practice martial arts since he was a child, and now he even took all kinds of tactical movements that Ivan taught him to practice thoroughly. They spent 10 whole days on the mountain building a "training ground", with thorny branches woven into "barbed wire", wooden planks built into "single-plank bridges" and obstacle stands. Anyway, Ivan set up many things that Yang Sicheng had never seen before, all for the purpose of making it very difficult for him to overcome these obstacles.

Yang Sicheng, who had practiced martial arts, found it easy to vault over the obstacles, but every time he tried to use elegant moves like "Swallow's Flip", Ivan would sneakily shoot him with a slingshot, making him feel sore, and say in a sinister tone: "Kid, if I were holding a gun, you'd be dead by now! Get back to doing 30 standard push-ups!"

Yang Sicheng had no choice but to follow his requirements, and surprisingly, it was really hard to hit him. In close combat, Yang Sicheng could almost match Ivan, but Ivan still taught him some fighting skills, telling him to get rid of the useless fancy moves in martial arts and aim for a one-hit knockout.

"If you want to hit the target accurately, then you must learn to estimate the distance of the target accurately. Therefore, you need to master the '100-meter unit measurement method' and the 'target appearance measurement method' as well as their mixed application methods! If you can intuitively judge the distance of any object accurately, your movement speed is qualified."

"If you're in an unfamiliar jungle, and the fruits around are ones you've never seen or eaten before, then it's best not to try them. All animals are your best choice, including insects! Never eat spoiled food or animal entrails, and don't drink untreated water directly!" Ivan said, then tossed a peeled mouse in front of Yang Si Cheng.

"Swallow it!" Ivan ordered him, Yang Sicheng had eaten raw meat before, but mouse meat... Yang Sicheng suppressed his nausea and pulled out a hunting knife to cut off the bloody mouse meat and put it in his mouth, slowly chewing and swallowing it into his stomach. Actually, the mouse meat tasted not bad, except that it looked a bit nauseating.

"To blend in with your surroundings, always be aware of whether the location you are in has a high contrast in color and terrain. Know that any changes to these areas will be very noticeable, which is like announcing to your enemy where to fire at you!"

"Although occupying a certain height can give you an open view, you must understand that it's not the higher the better. For example, in urban warfare, if you choose the top of a church or high tower, then either when you stick your head out to observe the situation, you'll be exposed and shot by others, or after firing just one shot, you'll be torn into pieces by the enemy's retaliatory fire. Therefore, you should choose a location with an alternate escape route that is no more than 15 meters above ground as your position."

"For a sniper, the greatest threat is the enemy's sniper, because he knows the usual way of fighting for a sniper. The best way is to eliminate him before he finds you, so in all target sequences, the enemy's sniper is always your top priority."

"Always view the world around you with a professional eye, remain vigilant at all times, judge the forms around you from a professional perspective, and make the most correct choices."

  。。。。。。。。。。。。。

Every day, 10 kilometers of loaded cross-country running, every day high-intensity physical training, every day wearing "ghillie suits" (camouflage uniforms) to practice shooting in various postures, and every day's routine hand-to-hand combat training. All these Yang Sicheng could still accept, but when Ivan asked him not to open one eye and close the other while shooting, Yang Sicheng refused: "Who stipulated that you must open both eyes when shooting?"

Everyone knows that when aiming to shoot, if both eyes are open, a gap will be formed due to the distance between the two eyes, and as a result, even the best shooter will miss the target!

"There's no rule or anything, but if you want to live longer, it's better this way," Ivan said slowly.

Ivan's theory is that if a sniper is in a 2-man fighting team, it's okay to take turns observing, but if he's operating alone, no one can sustainably observe with binoculars for a long time. When shooting, if the left eye can function normally, the first benefit is that you can immediately confirm the result, and the second benefit is that you can pay attention to the surroundings at any time, and react to any danger in the first place.

"It's like having an extra scout! More profitable for you." Ivan tempted Yang Sicheng.

"You can't even overcome this little difficulty, how are you going to be a sniper in the future? If I let you stay in the toilet pit for a day, wouldn't you be scared to death?" This is "showing him who's boss".

"Don't ask me to demonstrate! I really can't do it, but some of our former comrades could do it. The key is to use your heart and hands at the same time. Since someone else can do it, then you should be able to do it too." When Yang Sicheng timidly asked Ivan to give him a demonstration, this guy responded with an air of confidence.

"Unbelievable, is this really okay?" Yang Si Cheng muttered under his breath.

Damn it! Yang Sicheng was completely speechless, can't do what Ivan said after all. At first, it's really hard because bullets are precious, Yang Sicheng used crossbow arrows to replace guns when practicing. In Ivan's words: "Don't think that a sniper can only fight with a gun, sometimes you'll find that a dagger, rope or even poison is your best choice!"

Through countless practices, Yang Sicheng finally figured out the door, and indeed, as Ivan said, the most important thing is to focus on one thing and use two purposes. When aiming, the right eye stares at the target through the sight, and the left eye's peripheral vision scans the surrounding environment. After getting used to it, it's almost the same as closing one eye, and the accuracy is exactly the same as closing the left eye completely.

Ivan's several "treasures" had been exploited by Yang Sicheng to the point of exhaustion, including a Swiss military watch with a directional compass, a foldable tactical periscope, and a leather vest with a hidden compartment that could hold water as a substitute for a canteen. When Yang Sicheng gazed longingly at the "branch" in Ivan's hand, Ivan suddenly flew into a rage: "Don't even think about my 'Beryllina'! She's my wife - is there anyone stupid enough to give away their own wife?"

However, Yang Sicheng still unreservedly likes Ivan's "branch".

"What a branch, this is called Mosin-Nagant 1919 rifle, caliber, magazine capacity 5 rounds, combat firing rate 10 to 20 rounds/minute, effective range 2000 meters, equipped with 3.5 times PU scope, structure is very reliable, because the sight is set on the left side of the gun, in case of necessity such as at night can also use the mechanical sight on the gun." Ivan spoke about guns like he was talking about his family treasures.

Ivan tenderly stroked his beloved rifle, as if he were caressing his lover, and in fact, he had even given his gun a girl's name "Bielina", perhaps it was his first love? Yang Sicheng thought wickedly.

Ivan taught Yang Si Cheng to make several tables, including range cards, field sketches and observation logs. In addition, he asked him to make a table to record the altitude, air humidity, wind speed, shooting distance and shooting accuracy of each shot in detail, and then try to control these factors that affect the shooting accuracy within his own cognitive range by comparison.

"When you can fully remember the deviations brought by these influencing factors, your shooting accuracy will be greatly improved." Ivan said.

Yang Sicheng thought that the happiest time of the day was when he and Ivan took turns playing hide-and-seek, using various methods to find each other within a designated area while avoiding being found by the other. At first, Yang Sicheng would get kicked out by Ivan after just a short while, but when it was Ivan's turn to hide, Yang Sicheng couldn't find him no matter what, only to discover at the end of the game that Ivan had been hiding in plain sight as a pile of "grass" or even just a tree in the distance.

It was not so easy for Ivan to drag Yang Sicheng out as easily as before, because he also understood Ivan's words: "Blend in with your surroundings", and the essence of this sentence is that those who have not experienced cruel battles will not understand.
