Chapter Fifty: Eating at Home

"No!" Ji Hoon and I replied.
"Alright! Free time!" The captain waved his hand, and everyone got up to attend to their own business. I ran over to Hei Xiong and Cai Dao, grinning as I gave each of them a punch.
"How's it going? Have you settled everything at home?" Hei Xiong asked with a smile.
"It's all right." I nodded: "All settled."
The kitchen knife patted my shoulder and asked: "What's your impression of our base?"
"It's really unimaginable! Is this a mercenary group or something?! It's actually gotten so big!" I exclaimed, falling silent for a moment before looking up at the two with a bitter smile: "Just thinking about going onto the battlefield, to be honest, I still prefer the feeling of being home."
"You'll like it here!" The black bear punched me in the arm, picked up my luggage that I had put on the ground: "Let's go, get settled in your room and then we'll take you out for a stroll."
"Good!" I turned back to look at Kim Jee-joon, who was chatting and laughing with the lunatic, farmer, and scorpion-tailed man.
"Let's go, don't worry about No. 16, someone will take care of him." The cleaver patted me again, and the two of them led me to one of the doors pointed out by the captain, which would be my room from now on. Pushing open the door, the entire room was only about 20 square meters in size, with a bathroom, several closets, a bed, a desk, and a 42-inch LCD TV - that's all the furniture there was!
The black bear threw the large backpack to the ground, unzipped it and pulled everything out. As expected of a super-large bag, the sheer amount of things that came out left me speechless! A quilt, a set of daily necessities, various military uniforms, boots, helmets and equipment piled up, a laptop, and then all sorts of auxiliary equipment, such as headsets, watches, etc., filled the entire row of military bags.
The chef tossed me a set of Marine Corps uniforms and said, "Put these on, go set up passwords and fingerprint authentication for your room and computer."
I nodded hastily, took off the clothes on my body, put the pistol back into the holster and ran to set the password. I love that Wolf Mercenary Corps attaches great importance to others' privacy, after setting the password and fingerprint, no one can open my room except me. Of course, unless someone knows or cracks my password and cuts off my fingers for scanning. I really don't know how they will open my room if I die.
The black bear shouted and interrupted my thoughts, throwing a headset at me, then pointed to the tactical backpack on the ground and said: "Wear the headset 24 hours a day except when showering or sleeping. Familiarize yourself with the auxiliary equipment inside, it will come in handy on the battlefield."
The training requirements are the same, and it's convenient to wear earphones at all times for easy communication. After I put on my earphones, I squatted down and took out everything from my backpack and laid them out on the ground. The rich contents surprised me again. In addition to the essential equipment we had during our training in Africa, there were a large number of miscellaneous items, ranging from precision electronic instruments to fish lines, batteries, copper wires, and so on. Upon reflection, I realized that these were all necessary materials for making our own equipment and weapons, which our instructor had taught us about before! However, we usually don't need them, but unexpectedly, the Wolf Mercenary Corps has fully equipped us with everything at once. It's better to be prepared than not!
Get all the equipment familiarized and tidy, the bed is also laid out with washing utensils neatly arranged, equipment clothing is put in the cabinet... After everything was tidied up, the two of them took me to the F4 armory by elevator to choose my weapon.
The dazzling array of guns made me dizzy for a moment, and I didn't know which one to choose as my weapon. During base training, I had always used the US military standard equipment M16A4, and I had also learned about other types of guns. Originally, I wanted to get an M16, but its high maintenance requirements and high failure rate in harsh environments made me hesitant. I have to admit that the M16 is indeed a very sophisticated weapon, but I remember one time during training in the Sahara Desert, a helicopter took off and kicked up a whirlwind of yellow sand. At the time, I didn't notice, and when I raised my gun to shoot, it jammed. Two incoming rubber bullets hit me hard. From then on, I treated it like an ancestor, afraid that it would malfunction again!
Now that I'm about to experience real combat, God knows what kind of harsh environment it will be. When the battle is intense and suddenly jams, isn't that asking for death?! However, with only half a year of military training, although we're always running at full capacity, as for other guns, we've only touched on them, learning how to use them, without any special preferences, I really don't know which one to choose! No matter how I look at it, each gun seems fine, but I always feel like there's a better one out there.
The M134 on tanks, don't even think about it.
Domestic 95, there are a few in the warehouse, but more are for export 97. I thought about it and gave up the idea of using it. Firstly, I don't use it much and don't understand it well. Secondly, 95 is the standard equipment of the Chinese army, and as a mercenary, there aren't many Chinese people. Mercenaries all like to use their own familiar weapons, and I don't want to be remembered as the Chinese person from Wolf's Mercenary Team who killed his own comrade, and then have them come after me for revenge. And in my heart, there is always a voice that makes me unwilling to hold a domestically produced weapon on the battlefield, unwilling to kill those innocent people. Although weapons are made to kill! If it were to defend the country? I think I would proudly take any weapon onto the battlefield!
With a "good enough" mentality, I circled around the armory and finally chose my weapon of choice - the SG552! This rifle is only 730mm in length, with a folded stock it's just 504mm long, making it almost as compact as modern submachine guns. It's extremely suitable for close combat and is often paired with other firearms to fill gaps in firepower, earning it the nickname "assault team member". With an optical sight attached, I can quickly track targets and hit them within a hundred meters, making it a formidable close-range sniper rifle! The 5.56mm caliber bullets are also something I really like - back when I played CS, I loved this gun. Adding an LG2 grenade launcher and tactical flashlight with laser sight makes the new rifle look even more awesome!
The pistol I'm currently carrying is a Glock 17, not my favorite. After taking it off, I found a USP45 tactical model to wear. This pistol was designed and manufactured with the .40 caliber specification, which can fire up to 9mm caliber bullets, specifically for US special forces soldiers. The magazine can hold 12 rounds. All performance parameters are satisfactory, and it's also the same pistol I used to sleep with at that underground base back home, so I chose it without hesitation among many pistols.
I don't have any special preferences for knives, as long as they feel comfortable in my hand. Among the many knives available, I randomly selected a Strider BT and strapped it to my leg. This classic representative of Strider Knives is also well-known in the world of military knives. The 1/4-inch thick blade measures 6.25 inches in length and 12.5 inches overall, with an American tanto-style geometric blade head, double-edged guard, and a wrap-around paracord handle. The standard material for BT is SV30 steel, which is typically heat-treated by Paul Bos, making it one of the best in terms of quality, hardness, and toughness. Everyone agrees that the BT is a "pry bar" with a sharp blade. The first impression of Strider BT is its sturdy appearance and the American-style tanto geometric blade head. What's most impressive is its terrifying cutting power - with its strong and tough blade, it can easily pierce thin steel plates and car body panels without being damaged at all!
"Have you made your choice?" The black bear put down the UFO-shaped Come-Fu gun in his hand and asked, looking up.
"Alright, that's about it! I shook off the equipment on me, those two bastards didn't even give me any advice or guidance."
"SG552, USP45 tactical pistol, Strider BT dagger... all good stuff! 'Knife' took a look at the equipment on my body and said."
"Alright, let's go! Except for the handguns, all other ammunition can only be issued during missions and training." Hei Xiong said as he beckoned to the leader of the kitchen knives, who was standing by, to head out. I happily followed behind them, carrying my equipment on my back.
Something came up today, so I'll upload it later, sorry!
