The black bear nodded satisfactorily, closed his computer and said "OK".
The kitchen knife seemed a bit excited, driving the speedboat to accelerate towards the small white dot. The emotions of this one also couldn't bear it anymore. The small white dot was getting bigger and bigger, and its outline was becoming clearer and clearer. I rubbed my eyes, which had already been blown painful by the sea wind, uh...it looked like a boat!
As the distance drew closer, the outline of the ship became clearer... Good heavens! It was actually a warship! The silver-white hull was covered in radars and cannons everywhere, but there were no signs or flags anywhere.
I suddenly remembered my current identity - a "notorious" mercenary!
"Hurry up and run! The navy is coming! They're soldiers! Don't get caught by them!" I yelled loudly, my voice even changed tone.
The kitchen knife and the black bear looked at me with a shocked expression, proudly laughing loudly, without explanation, slowing down the speedboat, slowly approaching the warship. At the same time, two steel cables with hooks were lowered from the high deck of the white warship, and the two men hung the hooks on the speedboat, a slight vibration, the speedboat was slowly lifted off the water surface.
It's probably just our own people, mercenaries and the country have an understanding! I comforted myself. Looking at how they didn't seem to care at all, I reckon it's nothing serious.
The speedboat was gently docked on the deck, with several busy sailors standing around. We had just stood on the deck and shaken our hips when an old man in military uniform walked in with a team of sailors, the stars on his shoulders dazzling me for a moment.
The black bear and the vegetable knife stood at attention and saluted the old man after seeing him, and the old man also smiled and returned a military salute. The black bear introduced me to the old man, then turned around and said to me: "This warship is the only one belonging to our Wolf Mercenary Corps, and it took a lot of effort to get it. Unfortunately, it can only sail on the high seas and has no right to approach the territorial waters of any country, otherwise it will be sunk unconditionally. We'll be taking it to Africa in the next few days. This is the commander of this warship, General Rigen, a retired US military officer."
Battleship! General! Is it?
I feel like my head is spinning, what kind of mercenary group can have its own warship? This is simply a huge non-governmental armed organization! I'm just wondering, what's the point of having a warship for a mercenary group?!
I first looked at the star general with great admiration, then carefully examined this warship, seemingly... looks about the same size as the escort ships on TV aircraft carriers. It seems that the strength of the Wolf Mercenary Corps is not ordinary! With their own warships and a general commander, mercenaries can mix to this point, it's worth it! I stretched out my hand and shook hands with the old man, nodding and saying: "General Rigan, nice to meet you."
"It's great to see you too." Rigen smiled and nodded, leading us into the cabin. This was a nicely decorated dining room, and the sailors behind took our luggage away as we sat down at a table. Before long, a sumptuous feast was brought out, and Hei Xiong and Caidao seemed to be familiar with Rigen's general appearance, raising their glasses together for a toast before chatting idly. I didn't understand, so I just focused on eating. After dinner, exhausted from the day's exertions, I followed the sailor's guidance to go rest in my quarters. As someone who had been training in martial arts since childhood, today's ordeal was more than enough.
The next few days on the ship were quite relaxing, with three meals a day served by someone, spending the daytime making up for English or going out for a stroll, and in the evening having a cup of coffee in the dining hall or watching satellite TV in my room. I could receive TV channels from all over the world, and various restricted channels gave me a first glimpse of the openness of foreign countries! It's just that I haven't seen Hei Xiong and Cai Dao for a long time, they seemed to have disappeared since we had dinner together that day.
That night I had just fallen asleep, a sailor knocked on my door and told me that we had arrived at our destination. I took a look at the watch, damn! How was it midnight again?! Helplessly putting on clothes and packing up, carrying luggage behind the sailor to the deck of the warship. There, a carrier-based helicopter had already started, and the two Black Bear Knives and General Rigan were waiting for me beside the helicopter. The two people I hadn't seen in days were both wearing US military uniforms, looking cool!
I hastily carried my luggage and ran over, shook hands with Lieutenant General Riggen, and boarded the helicopter with him.
The helicopter slowly took off and flew towards a pitch-black area.
I looked at the warship that had already disappeared into the darkness and turned to ask the two people: "What are your military ranks?"
"Yes, sir." they replied in unison.
"And what about me?" I asked excitedly: "What military rank will you give me? Lieutenant Colonel, Major or Second Lieutenant?"
The black bear looked at me with disdain and said, "Sir, your military rank is that of a soldier!"
Haha... The kitchen knife next to it couldn't help but burst out laughing and was struck again.
"Our military rank is the one we had before joining the Wolf Mercenaries, when we were in the army. We've been using it ever since we joined the Wolf Mercenaries," explained Chopper.
I could only squat in the cabin with a disappointed face, roughly using the most comfortable posture to recline on the chair and pretend to sleep.
The plane flew for more than an hour before landing on a vacant lot. As soon as the cabin door opened, a gust of cool wind rushed in, and I couldn't help but shiver as I stepped onto African soil. The helicopter took off again after we disembarked, heading back in the direction it came from.
The black bear and the vegetable knife each opened their own backpacks, took out flashlights, GPS equipment, etc. I quickly opened my luggage and put on a coat. Only then did I feel warmer, it turned out that African nights were so cold!
The black bear handed me a flashlight and said, "Welcome to Africa, this is South Africa near the Indian Ocean. Kid, now it's time for your second lesson - night march! According to the route we've been scouting out beforehand, the helicopter can only take us this far, our car is 20 kilometers away, we have to walk there."
"Only 20 kilometers, no big deal!"
"Alright." The black bear sneered and pulled out the pistol from his body, cocking it: "You'd better keep up with us, the wild beasts here can be man-eaters!"
Carefully looking around, he quickly ran to the middle of the two men, stumbling and following them as they walked forward. They had guns, so I kept my hands empty, sandwiched between the two of them safely. Fortunately, when we encountered lions, tigers, or other ferocious beasts, they could take care of me, otherwise I would have lost my life just after arriving here! How not worth it.
After walking for over an hour on the 20-kilometer night road, I was finally exhausted and panting, when I saw a bonfire in front of me. The destination had finally arrived! It really benefited from my martial arts background, as the 20-kilometer journey was walked with deep and shallow steps, which was quite tiring. I also realized at this time that being able to fight is one thing, but physical strength is another matter. It seems that when arriving at the base, I still need to practice my physical strength well, not for anything else, just to survive in the future. The danger of war is something that people who have not experienced it will not understand. But having not eaten pork, I have seen pigs run, and those bloody scenes in the movies have been replayed in my mind every night for days.
As the two walked into the bonfire, they found a person wearing standard US military equipment with an M16A4 slung over his shoulder, crouched there roasting something to eat, with a military Hummer parked behind him. Hei Xiong let out a breath and said "arrived", then whistled and walked over with large strides, carrying a cleaver.
I switched the luggage in my hand to the other hand and followed closely, after 20 kilometers, I was already drenched in sweat and starving. Walking into the bonfire, the three of them were already sitting together eating and drinking, I threw the luggage on the ground, took over the knife handed over a piece of meat from an unknown animal's hind leg, and gnawed at it without hesitation.
The black bear handed over a bottle of wine, I took it and drank a mouthful before handing it back. The black bear took a sip, chuckled and said: "Kid, the body that has practiced Chinese martial arts is indeed good, this 20-kilometer night road actually followed up. Haha……! The route was specially arranged by us, the purpose is to test your physical strength."
I curled my lip at them in disdain.
These two are really bored out of their minds, having planes and cars to ride in, yet they're doing some sort of test at night? If I'm not physically up for it, do you plan on kicking me out? I'd be delighted!
The black bear threw away the bone that had been gnawed clean in his hand, and patted the military uniform man beside us: "This is my good friend Bruce, he is now serving at the base you are going to, if you have any trouble in the future, just go find him!"
Typical African hospitality, after exchanging greetings, Bruce extinguished the bonfire, led us to the car, started the engine, turned on the headlights and sped off into the night.
