Twenty Middle School Recruitment

  Junior High School Entrance Examination

  "Aren't you sleeping yet?"

Zhang Guanlin woke up from his dream with some tension in his heart and found that Ye Ren's quilt was still shining.

"Come here, I have something to tell you."

Ye Ren had not slept all night, he sat on the bed with his head covered with a quilt, busy doing something under the light of an electric torch.

Zhang Guanlin got down from the bed and crawled onto Ye Ren's mat.

  "Come and see."

Ye Ren showed Zhang Guanlin a map of tomorrow's simulated urban exercise.

"The entire exercise area, only this factory's water tower is the high point, other areas are all ruins and low buildings. I need you, Li Jiaye, Huang Junji, Shi Nanfeng to set up defenses with me here."

"No problem. What do you need me to do?"

"I'm worried that something will happen to Ge Shengjie, and if it does, we'll be the last chance for victory. The opponent only has over 30 people, and even if Ge Shengjie's group is weak, they can still take out a few of the enemy and at least find a house to defend. The enemy's forces are insufficient, and they can't defend everywhere, as long as we can hide until the end, we'll have a chance to turn things around."

"What you said makes sense. It seems that the water tower is a key point. The enemy are all veterans, they must have thought of it, and they will definitely try to occupy this water tower first."

"So we should set off now."

"Alright, I'll go wake them up." Zhang Guanlin said as he got out of bed.

Ye Ren took out a piece of paper that had been prepared long ago, folded it and placed it on Ge Shengjie's bedside, then put on his clothes and equipment, and carried his own sniper rifle to prepare for departure.

Li Jiaye and Huang Junqi immediately regained their spirits when Zhang Guanlin said he wanted to set up an ambush ahead of time, and they quickly got out of bed.

Shi Nanfeng was thrilled when he heard that he didn't have to follow Ge Xianju's actions, and immediately got out of bed.

Five people sneaked out by jumping from a window with a quick-descending rope.

Ge Shengjie hadn't fallen asleep at all. He waited until the five of them left before opening his eyes and picking up the note Ye Ren had placed on his pillow.

"Water tower, stand firm in times of crisis."

Ge Shengjie put Ye Ren's note into the pocket of his coat hanging on the headboard and looked out at the dark night outside.

Although it was just an exercise, the complex emotions of their first battle still made it difficult for most of the new recruits to fall asleep.

  ……

Under the cover of night, Ye Ren led Zhang Guanlin, Li Jiaye, Huang Junqi and Shi Nanfeng to sneak to the north side of the exercise field's high ground near the factory before dawn.

Now, the eastern sky has slowly become brighter, and the entire sky has turned white.

Five people lay in ambush in a ditch beside the factory, carefully observing the situation inside the factory.

"There is someone on the water tower."

Looking up at the water tower from a low place, against the background of the whitish sky curtain, the swaying figure on the water tower is clearly visible.

"As expected, the opponent was well-prepared, too sinister."

"Even if they didn't have a sniper, they would still notice this perfect sniping spot. Something's fishy."

"It's just that good people don't come." Ye Ren said with a frown.

"We'll just go up and get rid of them," said Shining Peak.

"Don't be reckless, this will only serve to alert the enemy, we haven't even started yet and the five of us will have to finish first." Ye Ren said to Shi Nanfeng.

Five people lay in ambush in the ditch until dawn.

  ……

"After entering, Ren Liang led ten people to guard this building, and the rest of us hid in this position, trying to surround the enemy in this area."

Ge Shengjie pointed at the map in the car and redeployed again. All the new recruits were ready to make a big fuss, after all, they were young and fearless.

"Understood." Ren Liang checked the weapon in his hand.

Everyone's Type 95 assault rifle is equipped with an empty shell case ejector.

The vehicle took the new recruits outside the training grounds.

  "Action!"

Ge Shengjie jumped off the car and waved at the new recruits, shouting.

The new recruits quickly formed a combat formation after getting off the bus and entered the city under the leadership of Ge Shengjie.

But what the new recruits didn't expect was that as soon as they went in, they were discovered by the video surveillance equipment set up by their opponents.

"They're coming in, each group is ready to act."

At the first crossroads, new recruits sought cover in order to deploy a defensive formation.

Ge Xianjie vigilantly observed her surroundings.

For new recruits entering the war zone for the first time, it seems like countless bullets are suddenly flying in from all directions.

Everyone cautiously held their guns and scanned suspicious directions.

Ge Sanjie saw nothing unusual and waved at Ren Liang, indicating that he could start acting.

  "Come with me!"

Ren Liang called out and the ten people who had agreed to act with him set off together.

The new recruits split into two groups, with Ge Shengjie leading one group to use the buildings along the street as cover and circle around the edge of the training ground to the south side of the central square.

Ge Shengjie and Ren Liang led their teams into pre-arranged buildings to lay in ambush.

Ge and his men were in a good position in the building, able to completely seal off Central Square.

Soon, a "hostile army" wearing jungle camouflage appeared on the square.

Ge Shengjie roughly counted and found that there were more than 20 enemy soldiers, which was basically consistent with the intelligence.

The "enemy" moved very quickly, alternating cover as they rapidly crossed the central square.

The building next to the square is the tomb that Ge Xuanjie dug for his opponent. As long as his own men fired fiercely from the front, attracting the enemy's attention, Ren Guang's team would have a chance to open up a breakthrough from behind. As long as Ren Guang cleared the first floor, his own people could go in, and victory would be 90% theirs.

The "enemy" quickly passed through the central square and entered the building for a search.

"The enemy has entered our pocket and is ready to act." Guo Shengjie said to the person beside him.

"Get in touch with Ren Liang and them."

"To guard against reconnaissance, wireless telegraphy has been silenced, he and I agreed that gunfire would be the signal. Prepare for action!"

Waiting until the "enemy" had fully entered the building, Ge Shengjie led his team in a charge.

Ren Liang and his men have also entered their pre-arranged positions.

"After occupying the position and starting the battle, we need to quickly pass through the open space in front of us, break through the first floor from the opposite side and occupy the first floor." Ren Guang hid behind a window.

The recruits crouched down behind a row of windows on the first floor.

"Newbies take the bait, let's get started."

On the rooftop, a hypothetical enemy wearing a gas mask said to his subordinate.

These imaginary enemies all wore gas masks, one of whom walked to the ventilation well of the building, took a hand grenade from his waist belt, pulled out the safety pin and threw it into the ventilation shaft.

Ventilation shafts connected the entire building's air ducts, and the grenade didn't explode violently, but just flashed with a flame, shattered, and puffs of white smoke billowed out.

Several imaginary enemies joined forces to cover the well with a board.

"Come on, let's go take a look at our little brothers."

The captain checked his rifle and said to his comrades.

White smoke quickly filled every corner of the building through the ventilation ducts, and after the concentration decreased, the smoke had become colorless.

"Ren Liang, why do I feel so dizzy?"

  Some people feel physically uncomfortable.

  "That's right."

The brother next to him also said.

Ren Liang was also dizzy after being told by them like this.

"Something's wrong! We've been had, let's get out of here quickly!"

Ren Liang had already sensed that something was wrong, wanted to crawl up from the ground, but as soon as he got up, he only felt dizzy and disoriented, and immediately lost consciousness.

The others also fainted one after another.

Under the leadership of the captain, a group of imaginary enemies walked into the first floor, tying up the new recruits one by one and gathering them together.

"Take care of them, check on them, and don't let anything go wrong."

The captain glanced at the ten new recruits who were tied up like dumplings, and casually kicked one of them with his foot to confirm that he had fainted.

On the square, Ge Shengjie and his team acted quickly, but their actions were discovered by the "enemy"!

But originally there was no intention of hiding anything anyway.

"The enemy" had seized the windows inside the building and opened fire on the new recruits in the central square.

"Take cover, enemy approaching from three o'clock direction."

The new recruits immediately opened fire to the right and sought cover.

Both sides erupted in intense exchanges of gunfire.

"Snake-shaped movement! Move up! Left wing moves first! Right wing follows closely!"

Ge Shengjie hid behind a bunker and shouted at the person on his left.

Most civilizations on the planet today write from left to right, and this deeply ingrained habit has a subtle influence on people's way of observing things. The eyes naturally move from left to right when observing. At the same time, scientific research shows that due to the influence of body structure, most people react faster to objects coming from the front-left than from the front-right. Based on these two points, the "enemy" reacts faster when shooting at a target on the left side than on the right side, and adjusting the gun to the right will make the enemy feel very awkward.

K'o Shou-chien had long studied this problem, so he arranged for his left wing to move first.

Before moving forward on the left flank, the new recruits on the right wing had switched their rifles to full automatic and were laying down suppressive fire at the enemy's position.

  "Fire!"

After leaping forward and reoccupying the position, the new troops on the left wing opened fire into the building. The enemy quickly shifted their firepower to their own right wing, which was the left wing of the new troops.

The right flank moved quickly, but just as a few of them started to move, they were illuminated by laser dazzlers and smoke bombs on their bodies were activated, emitting a plume of white smoke announcing their withdrawal from the battle.

The shot came from behind and there was a sound of gunfire coming from that direction.

  "Fire at six o'clock!"

Kato immediately discovered the enemy's position, and a large number of enemy firepower points appeared in a building on the other side of the central square.

Obviously, an enemy in front of you cannot suddenly appear behind your back, nor can it be instantly transferred there. Therefore, the enemy behind is completely an unexpected enemy.

To be exact, the new recruits were deceived and the intelligence was false. The enemy wasn't even a platoon!

  "We've regrouped, adjusting our formation."

  Ge Shengjie shouted loudly.

The new troops quickly changed deployment, the soldiers on the left wing kept their positions and continued to attack with cover; a few people in the middle who had not moved before turned back to find cover and suppress the firepower behind them.

But without the sniper's help, shooting at an enemy firing out of a window across almost the entire central square would be nothing but blind luck.

The new recruits in the open areas had little cover, making them almost immobile under crossfire, and any slight movement would get them shot by snipers from six o'clock direction.
