Chapter 1: The Traveler's Visit (Part 2)
Two flowers bloomed, each representing a branch. The story tells of the Space-Time Merchant Team being trapped in a different space-time dimension after taking out their frustrations on an innocent scapegoat, Wei Yuankun. After venting their anger, they collectively made a decision to let Wei Yuankun go out and scout the situation in this world. As for this task, Wei Yuankun didn't have many complaints. Although in movies and TV shows, scouts usually get taken down first, after observing his surroundings, he thought there was no danger here. Looking around, they were in a field of green cornstalks, and walking out ten meters would lead to a small road. Standing on the road, one could see a vast plain ahead, with a village not far away, and behind them, a continuous mountain range could be vaguely seen. The village was in standard Chinese style, and the cornstalks made of jade were growing well. Seeing these things, Wei Yuankun started to feel a bit at ease, thinking that he hadn't been transported too far by that damned machine, at least still within China's borders, and very likely in his own time period, just in a different location. "I hope this was just an instant transfer." At this moment, Wei Yuankun had some concerns. After all, their business wasn't exactly legitimate. Having studied law, he knew that with the weapons they possessed - one T72 tank, five T55B tanks, two BTR-70 armored vehicles, plus twenty trucks loaded with guns and ammunition in an overloaded state - being caught was a very real possibility. The best outcome would be to let themselves get locked up for a while and taste the flavor of prison food. However, Wei Yuankun soon discovered that his worries were unnecessary. The glorious People's Police wouldn't be able to catch them because, during the time when the Japanese devils were rampaging across China, the police uncles in his space-time dimension were still in their previous reincarnation.
The scene cuts to the temporary camp of the travelers, where they heard Wei Yuankun shouting two sentences through the walkie-talkie. The first sentence was "How interesting, it turns out that they are filming an anti-Japanese war movie here! Don't say, this devil's disguise is quite realistic!" This was good news, as it meant that they had not left China. Immediately after, Wei Yuankun shouted another sentence: "Damn it, this isn't a film shoot, these are real devils!" However, everyone already understood what was going on, because the sound of gunfire from the Type 38 rifle had already been heard. Damn it, we've arrived in the era of the Anti-Japanese War!
Just as everyone was scolding, Wei Yuankun was lying on the ground, secretly lamenting his good fortune and thanking himself for not forgetting to add a ceramic bulletproof plate to his bulletproof vest when he came. If it weren't for that, he would have been shot through by now. At the time, he was sitting on a small mound, watching with great interest what seemed to be a performance by the devils who were filming, and laughing loudly: "These unlucky directors, they have time to make secret rules but don't even give these devil soldiers some clean clothes." However, a 7.62mm bullet soon stopped his laughter, although the opponent was over 400 meters away and had the cover of the bulletproof vest, the huge kinetic energy still made Wei Yuankun fall backwards. When he got up, another bullet flew over and shattered the walkie-talkie on his shoulder. After being shot at twice, Wei Yuankun became much smarter and immediately rolled down the hill like a dead man - Wei Yuankun indeed had a talent for acting, and this performance made even the devils in the distance think he was a genuine corpse. For example, the soldier who shot him with the second bullet, Nozomi Minamoto, was now muttering in Japanese, "It's rare to see a Chinese fool like that." Generally speaking, when Chinese civilians saw the mighty Imperial Army attack, they would usually try their best to escape, and few would be as foolish as the one earlier, still sitting on the hill watching the commotion.
"Not really, Sergeant Nino, it's rare to come across such a good target!" Minamoto Akira said to Sergeant Nino who was standing beside him with his sword, "Maybe so" Sergeant Nino was not very pleased, although Minamoto had just handed him a cigarette, if that damned Chinese hadn't been killed by himself earlier, perhaps this half-pack of Lao Dao Pai cigarettes would still be in his pocket. Earlier, he and Minamoto had made a bet on who could kill the Chinese fool 400 meters away, whoever won got to keep the cigarettes. Although the distance wasn't close, as an old soldier and Minamoto's childhood neighbor, Sergeant Nino was confident in his marksmanship, after all, from young to old, he had never lost to him before. However, this time he lost - it was probably because the power of the Type 38 rifle in his hand was too small, which made him quite resentful, as those were his last cigarettes.
But as a gambling tool for the two Japanese soldiers, Wei Yuankun was even more furious at this moment. It wasn't just because of the embarrassment of rolling down the hill earlier, but also because the place where he was hit was still throbbing in pain. After all, bulletproof vests can only block bullets and cannot eliminate their kinetic energy. "These damn Japanese devils want my life!" Wei Yuankun's hatred for Japan was very normal. Even if his hometown didn't have those mass graves left by the Japanese, even if his grandfather's body didn't have scars from that year, even if there weren't old soldiers around him telling stories every day, just as a Northeasterner and growing up in an environment surrounded by soldiers, he wouldn't have any good feelings towards the Japanese. Moreover, just now two Japanese almost took his life - of course, if he knew he was their gambling tool, he would be even more furious.
From a young age, Wei Yuankun had always been a reckless and daring guy. Now his boldness played a huge role in this matter - at least he wasn't scared out of his wits by the two gunshots earlier, although his legs were still shaking uncontrollably. But despite the trembling, after rolling down the slope, Wei Yuankun returned to the green canvas tent with an extremely ungraceful posture, crawling on all fours. However, what was on his mind right now wasn't escaping for his life; he wanted to prove that he wasn't just a harmless good citizen, but a formidable presence. Earlier, Wei Yuankun had hidden all his weapons in the green canvas tent because he was afraid of being discovered and reported to the police. He firmly believed that even though he wasn't a real warrior, once he had a gun in hand, he would definitely make them regret it.
Wei Yuankun had a good habit, which was to carry a large amount of weapons and ammunition with him wherever he went. This was thanks to an experience where he was attacked by locals while peddling arms in a different time and space. Although it was heavy and inconvenient, this trip was no exception. According to Wei Yuankun's words, he only brought some "self-defense stuff", but specifically, it included: An AKS74 assault rifle with a GP25 grenade launcher attached, along with 13 magazines and 16 grenades; an M14 civilian version sniper rifle, with 5 magazines; on his leg, there was also a QSW06 silent pistol made from blueprints obtained by his friends; 8 hand grenades; and even two M72 rocket launchers, which he carried on his back. Including the bulletproof vest, helmet, night vision goggles, and other miscellaneous equipment, the total weight of his gear was over 40 kilograms. If he were a special forces operative, this arsenal would be enough to take out a small platoon of enemy soldiers. However, Wei Yuankun knew his own limits and that he didn't have the capability to take on such a task. Before his radio was destroyed, he had already sent out a message for help, and his team would soon arrive to assist him. All he needed to do was stall them - these weapons and ammunition were sufficient for this task. Later, the T72 and T55 tanks in their team would easily take care of the enemy - although the drivers were not skilled, the tank cannons and machine guns on top were not toys either. At least they could rescue him without a problem. After all, the Japanese soldiers' two legs couldn't outrun the two tracks of the tanks. As for where to escape afterwards, that was a problem, but it could be discussed later.
