The first day in Africa
More than 300 aircraft flew over the Benito airfield in Libya. The massive Junkers looked like prehistoric monsters, visible from several kilometers away! Twenty planes circled at an altitude of 450 meters above the airport, waiting for landing instructions. Meanwhile, the escort planes began to land on the runway, which was not particularly wide. At this time, the control tower had not yet issued a landing command, but the elite young men from the German Air Force couldn't wait any longer. They were full of energy after just waking up and performed a series of thrilling stunts, including rapid descents, sharp turns, and dives in formation. The ground troops cheered as they watched! The young men jumped out of their planes, shouting to the cheering crowd. Soon, the surrounding German soldiers realized the pilots' intentions - the big Junkers were about to land, and space was needed! With great enthusiasm, everyone worked together to clear a large enough area. Under the command of Hauptmann Frenzen, the leader of the FW190HSX squadron, the first Junker roared towards the ground! In an instant, everyone held their breath! They had never seen such massive planes in their lives! How could they not be excited?! This spectacle made everyone forget everything else and left them in shock! The control tower commander was also shocked, forgetting his duties. Luckily, the huge cross emblem on the plane reminded people of their surroundings. "Our planes! Long live Germany!" The cheering crowd almost drowned out the roar of the engines under the glow of the Iron Cross!
The big mom slowly touched the ground, with a total of sixty wheels supporting the plane's slide. The tail plate at the back of the fuselage fell down and came into contact with the ground, forming a large slope, and the lower part of the tail plate in contact with the ground was supported by a row of small wheels to prevent friction between the tail plate and the ground. People stared blankly at the big plane's slide, holding their breath. Suddenly, a long truck rushed out from the tail plate of the fuselage, accelerating away as soon as it touched the ground, clearing the runway. Trucks loaded with supplies came out one after another, but when the plane slid to the middle section of the runway, no more trucks came out. The tail plate quickly rose and closed, followed by six takeoff rockets at the back of the big mom's fuselage simultaneously ejecting flames, just as the big mom approached the end of the runway, taking off swiftly and disappearing from people's sight. One after another, the big moms landed, unloaded cargo, and flew away. The speed was very fast, completing the unloading of goods in less than an hour! The dozens of planes escorting in the sky nodded their wings to pay respects to the departing big mom before quickly landing at Benito Airport.
The airport's control tower had never seen such a massive scene, with one giant plane after another descending from the sky like an extraterrestrial visitor, quickly unloading 3,000 tons of cargo in an unbelievable manner. If it weren't for the red cross signs on each truck and the fiery red iron cross signs on each plane, he would have been reminded that reinforcements had arrived from his homeland. He almost forgot where he was!
Romel was studying his next move in his command post when a phone call pulled him out of his thoughts on the offensive.
"General, a telegram from Benito Fort Airport says that 3,000 tons of supplies have arrived and there are also 300 aircraft!" his aide reported.
"Are there no tanks, Fritz?" Rommel asked calmly.
"Better you take it yourself, General," said Fritz Bayerlein's chief of staff.
"Alright." Lomel took the phone and furrowed his brow as he listened to the excited, incoherent words of the battalion commander guarding the airport.
"Speak more slowly, Lieutenant! More clearly!"
"General, I must report to you that over 3,000 tons of supplies have arrived at Benito Airport, along with 300 aircraft, and more than 20 of them are huge planes! The pilots report that the follow-up armored troops will arrive soon!"
"20 planes! 3,000 tons of supplies? What are you talking about, Captain?! Are you raving with fever?! You're speaking to the same general! Do you know that, Captain?!" Rommel was getting a bit angry.
"Your Excellency, I swear that such a large airplane is a miracle! If not seen with one's own eyes, it would be hard to believe! Your Excellency, I swear on my life! This is true! Everyone here has seen the big plane from our motherland!" The captain explained hastily.
"Your Excellency, there are also 300 pilots here. They fly the new aircraft. They request an audience with you, Your Excellency! Their leader, Frenzen, has brought a personal letter from the Head of State."
"Alright, watch them, I'll be right back."
The bold Rommel was eager to see what reinforcements had been given him. He, who was so keen on launching an offensive, needed planes and tanks like a battering ram. Within one minute, Rommel's special train was already on its way to the airport of Benito.
When he arrived at the airport, 300 pilots had been waiting in line for a long time. Behind the pilots, 100 trucks with a load of 30 tons were neatly lined up. The drivers stood beside their vehicles standing at attention, waiting for the general's inspection. In the distance, 300 new aircraft were majestically lined up in rows, with an extraordinary momentum.
Rommel stepped down and walked towards the pilots, Fahrenberg immediately saluted and reported: "General, Special Air Service pays respects to you. We are under your command on the orders of the Leader!" Rommel returned the salute and asked: "Welcome, Captain Fahrenberg. Did you bring the Leader's letter?"
Von Frenzen immediately handed over the draft letter, named after Comrade Xiao Xi. Rommel hastily looked through it, his eyes drifting to the supplies he had been dreaming of. He patiently reviewed the pilots one by one and, under Von Frenzen's guidance, inspected his new aircraft.
"General, this is the new fighter plane. Its performance is unmatched, and there is no aircraft in the world that can rival it. The skies of Africa will soon be dominated by it! This is a new type of fighter-bomber, this plane is even more robust than a tank, it can handle various tasks, almost omnipotent. Moreover, it can stay in the combat zone for six hours, with enough weapons and fuel to provide closer support to the army!" Frenzen proudly introduced the plane to Rommel.
"What supplies have you brought, Major Frenzen?" Rommel had inspected the planes and was very satisfied. The ferocious appearance of these aircraft, with their 30 cannon muzzles glinting menacingly in the sunlight, comforted his heart deeply. His confidence in victory was now even more solid.
Frenzen led the crowd to a truck, took out the key and opened the solid sealed compartment, and then stretched out his palm to scan the fingerprint. One by one, the doors were opened, and one by one, they attracted the curiosity of Rommel's party! When the last small box was opened, a titanium alloy-made exquisite miniature safe appeared in front of everyone. Frenzen took out the safe and said: "General, this is your special communication equipment, only your voice can awaken its life!"
Rommel's curiosity was now piqued enough to kill all the British opposite him! He took over the box at once and said, "Major, what do I do? Do I talk into it?"
Before his words had fallen, the mysterious box opened, and inside appeared an exquisite communication device, next to which was a delicate marshal's baton.
