Chapter 9: The Ninth Chapter of Departure and Sorrow
Excessive
Walking on the campus road, new student associations will give out promotional materials to passing freshmen. Originally not interested in joining a club, but hearing from roommates that joining a club can make more friends and also make oneself more confident. Thinking that I don't have any special talents, the only thing I can do is write some text, so I hesitated and signed up for the Literature Club.
It was Friday when the Literature Club election took place. Lan Caihe was still cleaning up in the classroom after school when he heard the broadcast and suddenly remembered that he had to go to the Literature Club election, so he grabbed his prepared manuscript and ran along the corridor of the classroom building at a speed that no one on the road could see clearly. At the corner of the stairs, he accidentally bumped into a girl, scattering her papers all over the floor. Lan Caihe apologized profusely and helped her pick up the papers.
When she rushed to the conference room, it was already packed with people. The girl who had just been bumped into was sitting in the president's position. It turned out that she was the president of the Literature Club, Lan. C silently lamented in her heart, and the president smiled and asked her to sit down before starting the election for the new leadership team.
Only after I sat down did I notice Xie Zhangyi sitting across from me. He seemed to be familiar with the people in our club and was leaning halfway over the table, constantly using his hand to lift up the bangs of the girl next to him. The girl looked annoyed but it was clear she wasn't angry.
The president placed a stack of materials on the table in front of her, scanned the crowd sitting below the stage, and gestured for them to be quiet. "I've reviewed all your materials, you're all excellent, but there's only one position for president, and then there are vice presidents and department heads, everything else is just a member," she said, pulling out a chair and sitting down. "Who wants to run for president? I'm retiring this year."
The people below were whispering to each other, but no one dared to stand up. Perhaps they thought the probability was too small. Lan looked at Xie Zhangyi's calm face with tension, and suddenly he stood up, "I."
"Who else?"
Lan raised her hand in the crowd, and even after a long time, she couldn't recall where she got the courage from. It was as if that hand wasn't hers at all. She lowered her head without looking at him, but she knew he was staring at her. The people around them started whispering again, discussing something about them that she really didn't want to hear. Lan forced herself to lift her head and meet his gaze. "I'm going to run against you for the position of student council president."
Xie Zhang's mouth curled up in a slight sneer as he walked into her, looking down at her eyes, "What do you have to fight with?"
She took a deep breath, her heart racing with anxiety, but she tried to keep her voice steady: "Time will prove everything."
Maybe many people think this is a meaningless war, who wins or loses is already very clear. However, Lan still wants to fight for something, maybe it's because she has been ordinary for too long and wants to get some things she has always yearned for.
That day's competition was won by Xie Zhangyi, the whole scene only had Lan C voting for herself, everyone else was leaning towards Xie Zhangyi, Lan C was standing on the stage with some difficulty, next to her was Xie Zhangyi who was smiling triumphantly, just as she was about to leave the stage, the president announced the other leadership candidates, and she became the vice-president.
Such a dramatic scene happened to Lan C, the hope that had already faded away was reignited. She always thought she could be chosen from among many candidates just because on the day she bumped into the president, she didn't run away but apologized politely. Besides this, she couldn't find any other reason; she always felt she wasn't good enough.
After the election was over and everyone had dispersed, Lan's heart was still immersed in the joy of winning. At this time, Xie Zhangyi threw an olive branch at her. His body blocked most of the sunlight outside the window, and his face couldn't be seen clearly in the backlight, but his voice was still as pleasant as ever. "I didn't expect you to dare compete with me, I'm surprised, and also admire your mental endurance."
Seeing blue? C didn't say a word, he also expressionlessly leaned in close to her face, "Although you lost, congratulations to you, Deputy Director-general — not bad."
"I also congratulate you on successfully becoming the president of the company." Lan stretched out his right hand to shake hands in celebration.
But Xie Zhangyu merely glanced at her hand suspended in mid-air with disdain and didn't extend his own to shake hers. Instead, he drew closer to her, his tone laced with obvious distaste: "You should wipe the sweat off your palm, I really dislike sticky hands."
The girl's face was momentarily embarrassed, and she immediately put away the sweaty palm of her hand, placing it on her school uniform to casually wipe it off.
Xie Zhangyi's mouth curled up into a faint, imperceptible cold smile. He continued walking forward in a carefree manner and said, "Don't put on that pitiful expression in front of me. You're just like those other girls who think that by showing off their weakness in front of guys, they'll get sympathy and be pampered. Honestly, I want to say that this trick doesn't work on me at all. In fact, I even find it disgusting."
"Do you have to be so sarcastic?" The girl who had been quiet for a long time suddenly spoke up, startling Xie Zhangyi. Lan looked at his shocked expression and continued, "I know I'm not good-looking enough to enter your eyes, so from now on, you don't have to look at me or talk to me, I won't mind."
Xie Zhangyue sneered, revealing an evil smile, and said to her word by word: "I love whatever I want, you can't control it."
Blue? I don't know what to say. Xie Zhangyi's entire being gave her a kind of intangible pressure, which may have originated from the deep-seated inferiority complex in her heart, or perhaps it was just because of Xie Zhangyi's eternally cold tone. In any case, in front of him, she seemed to always be at a disadvantage.
She and her roommate had just finished dinner on the way back when they saw Su Chen walking towards them. He also saw her and smiled, waving at her. The boys next to him made strange noises with bad smiles, and blood rushed to her cheeks. Lan Yu said goodbye to him briefly and walked back, not daring to look back.
He immediately burst out laughing behind his back. The boy's words reached his ears, "Haha, you're still shy." "Yeah, your face is all red, haha, so funny."
Su Chen smiled and punched her roommate lightly. The girl's stiff gait was indeed very cute, it could be seen that she was very nervous, and before they even had a chance to talk properly, she ran far away.
Lan couldn't possibly not know Su Cheng's thoughts. In his gentle gaze, and the smile he couldn't hide when he saw her, and the laughter of his friends when they saw her, all indicated that Su Cheng seemed to have feelings for her. Lan lay on top, looking at the night light stars on the ceiling emitting a faint blue glow, silently telling them the secrets in her heart: Du Hongyi, did you see? I'm also liked by someone, where are you now?
