Chapter Fourteen: The Chess Player's Risky Move
"Have you read the eighth chapter of this book?" Professor George took out a book that he had been holding close to his chest, and asked Huā Mù Qíng, "It clearly says 'safety first', do you know? Moreover, you are a lady, tell me 'lady'."
"Helpless, Huamu Qing had no choice but to speak out, 'I am a lady.'"
"It's extremely dangerous for a lady to disguise herself as a maid, and what's more, you're the mayor of T City's daughter! What if something happens to you? Should I die?! No way, absolutely not!" By the end, Professor George's emotions became increasingly agitated, his voice growing louder and higher until he finally shouted it out.
He turned around in a huff, still muttering to himself; "Geez, I'm so fed up with this, what's going on here?"
"Wait, Professor, but I..." Hanaki Haruka hurriedly ran over to stop him.
"Stop, stop, shut up, no more discussion." He directly put on his sunglasses, turned around and walked away. Huā Mù Qíng could still vaguely hear the professor complaining, "Hmph, this girl really doesn't know which nerve is twisted, always causing trouble for me."
Only a dejected and disheartened Karin Hoshino was left standing, thinking to herself that maybe they did have something after all. She crossed her arms over her chest and declared to the back of Professor George, "Professor, you can't stop me now."
The middle-aged man beckoned to Karin, her information already in his hands, his slightly dull gaze scanning her simple data, and after ten seconds, he looked up at that exceptionally small yet spirited face.
"Only twenty years old, still attending night school, why not study hard?" The dull gaze stared at the thin and weak little girl in front of him, his tone inadvertently revealing a hint of warmth. Robin, sitting next to Huamu Qing, was surprised by the man's display of tenderness.
"I need work." Hanaki replied calmly and confidently.
"Short of money?" The man raised an eyebrow and sank his eyes, thinking unpleasantly.
"Right!" She nodded.
"Have you done this work before? Do you have experience? If so, start from the beginning and don't leave anything out."
The man learned from her resume that she was an orphan, and his heart tightened slightly. A little girl had experienced so many hardships and coldness in the world at such a young age...
But he didn't know that this resume was searched online by Xing Ye overnight at Huamu Qing's request.
"Starting from junior high school, I attended classes at school during the day and worked night shifts at an export factory from 7 pm to 12 am after school. This lasted for three years until graduation. When attending night school, I also worked as a maid in a wealthy family's home during the day until last month."
"Why change jobs?" The man asked curiously, nodding his head in great satisfaction with the little girl's voice, clean and simple.
"The pay is too low and the benefits are not good." Hanaki tightened her dry lips, originally wanting to say some flattering words, but it went against her personality, so she simply spoke based on real life.
"With your work experience, you can apply for a better job, why settle for a small maid's job?"
In recent years, she has had considerable social work experience for her age, but why did she come to apply for a small maid position?
Although the background is not good, it's precious to know how to be self-reliant and not complain about heaven's harshness, but instead live a diligent life.
"Boss, I think this is also a personal reason, let's not talk about it openly! If you keep asking like this, others will think you're forcing a confession out of someone!" Robin couldn't bear to watch anymore and spoke up, also helping Huamu Qing get out of the situation. She silently let out a sigh of relief in her heart.
"Uh... sorry, I'm sorry. It was my oversight." The man wiped the sweat from his forehead, he was just curious about the girl in front of him and asked a few more questions, but didn't expect to be stopped by the boy, "You're hired, did you bring your ID?"
The two of them listened, looked at each other silently, and thought to themselves that they were done for. Her surname and hometown were written on her ID card, what could be done? If the man found out she was the daughter of the mayor of T City, would he still hire her?
"Do you still need an ID?" Hanaki Haruka asked with a fake smile.
"Of course, applying for a job requires an ID! Are you telling me that everything you said is fake and you're an illegal immigrant?" The man said, his sympathetic tone gone, as he made a move to grab the phone on the side.
"Robbin hastily stopped the man's action,"No, we didn't sneak in."
"Hand over your ID card now." The man's face was resolute.
"Just give it to him!" Robin urged from the side, anyway, no matter what, at worst, just don't do it!
Huamu Qing hesitated for a moment.
"Still want to apply for it?"
"Got it!" Hanaki Harukazu feared that the man would change his mind, so he hastily said, and then reluctantly pulled out his ID from his bag with a sulky face.
"I don't have so much free time, be quick about it." The man said while flipping through other documents on the table.
Huā Mù Qíng's hand holding her ID card hesitated, wanting to welcome but also reject, but the man snatched it away with a burst of strength, "Give it to me."
The man took her ID card and muttered, "What a hassle!"
"Flowers... Flower Wood Qing?" The man furrowed his brow and enunciated each word.
Huā Mù Qíng and Robin slowly turned their heads, with their backs to the boss. She whispered to Robin beside her, "Do you think he recognizes my surname?"
This surname is also extremely rare in S City and T City, anyone who often watches the news knows that this surname has some connection with Mayor Hua Jiqing of T City, and what she's worried about is exactly this point.
"I'm also very curious, little sister." Robin turned his head, looking depressed.
"Ah......" Hua Mu Qing said with a low growl. Slowly turning his head, the two of them sat up straight again in front of the man.
"Hanaki Haru... This surname is quite rare!" But the man only slightly furrowed his brow, stroking his chin, "However, this name still sounds pretty good, I like it." The man looked at Hanaki Haru's ID card with a faint smile.
"Special? Just special? It seems that guy doesn't know you, maybe he doesn't even know your dad!" Robin turned her head again and whispered to Hanaki, with a mocking expression on her face.
Finally, Huamu Qing's resume was successfully accepted by the female intermediary company, and it was promised that there was indeed a job for her to do, and she could take office directly two days later.
