Chapter Seventy-One Back to Town
Hei Zi made a quick and clean move, and with one throw, he knocked down an opponent. The little guy who was thrown down by Hei Zi couldn't get up for a long time.
He didn't have any deep grudges against these little rascals, but Hei Zi just wanted to rescue K from their hands. He didn't use much force, mainly relying on throws, knocking one down and replacing him with another. In less than a minute, Hei Zi had thrown three of them to the ground.
The pressure on K was alleviated, and only then did he notice that someone was helping him. He mustered his spirits and swung the brick, accidentally hitting a hoodlum on the head with it.
The mixed-bloods saw that Hei Zi was really helping K and they all got scared, retreating in a hurry, some people started to run away.
Mixed-race kids bullying others is just relying on their status to bully, once someone runs away they completely lose morale, those standing and lying down all ran away rolling and crawling.
K held up a brick slab and stared at Hei Zi, who patted his hands and said, "Throw it away, they've all run off."
He threw down his board and brick, fell to his knees and said: "Thank you, big brother."
Hei Zi hastily helped K up and said: "Get up quickly, what kind of appearance is this? A man has gold under his knees, don't kneel down casually."
He insisted on saying: "The elder brother's life-saving kindness is forever unforgettable."
He grasped K's arms with both hands and pulled him up forcefully, saying: "Stand up and talk like a man."
There were many onlookers, the thugs ran away. They saw K kneeling down and refused to leave. Xiao Fei waved his hand and said: "Disperse, disperse, what's there to see?"
The little flying man shouted loudly in a northern accent, and the onlookers were so frightened that they retreated and dispersed.
Hei Zi pulled K's hand and said: "Brother, what's your name?"
"Brother Da Biao Wang Peng Cheng, also known as K, has been wandering since childhood. Thanks to Big Brother's rescue, I am forever grateful." K said loudly with his hands clasped together in a fist.
Hei Zi knew right away that this kid had listened to too many storytelling sessions, and laughed saying: "No need to be polite, aren't all within the four seas brothers? I've made friends with you."
They still had half an hour before the train left, so Hei Zi and the others took Wang Peng to a nearby clinic to have his wound treated. After having it bandaged, they said goodbye to Wang Peng and headed towards the ticket gate at the station.
Wang Pengcheng watched them walk towards the ticket gate with a heart full of gratitude. Since losing his parents, he had always been looked down upon and bullied by others. Hei Zi was the first person to ever help him fight back.
When Hei Zi and the others were about to reach the ticket gate with the crowd, Wang Peng Cheng bit his teeth and made a final decision. He quickly ran towards the ticket gate. Just as Hei Zi and the others were checking their tickets, Wang Peng Cheng shouted: "Brother, take me away!"
Hei Zi heard Wang Peng Cheng's voice and turned around to look, the ticket inspector shouted: "Hey, are you going or not? Don't block those behind."
Hei Zi hesitated for a moment, then waved his hand at Wang Peng and said, "There's one more, let's go together."
"Where is your ticket?" the staff member asked.
"He didn't have time to buy it, he'll make up for it on the bus."
The staff member recognized Wang Pengcheng and smiled: "It's him, come in."
Wang Peng stood next to Heizi on the platform, not saying a word. Heizi handed him the package in his hand and said: "Take it, from now on you'll follow me, when I eat meat you'll eat meat, when I eat bran you'll eat bran."
"Thank you, big brother. I'm willing to die for you..." Wang Pengcheng spoke firmly, like a martyr on the execution ground.
"Alright, alright, you've listened to enough storytelling. Follow me and from now on we're brothers. We'll stick together, work as a team, and make our way up in the world. There's no need for all that complicated nonsense."
After dozens of hours on the train, everyone was tired from the long journey. When they returned to their hometown, Wu Mei and Huang Mao were afraid to go home, so everyone had to accompany them back home to explain things.
It was almost dark when Xiao's family came out, Hei Zi and Zhu Xiaofei took the pheasant back to their farmhouse.
Hu Changfu returned home to see his mother, but there was no one in the house. They were very tired from sitting on the bus for a long time and hadn't eaten dinner yet. Heizi called Da Kui and told him that he had returned with a friend, asking him to buy some wine and meat to come over and eat.
Half an hour later, Er Cheng and Da Kui came in with a pile of food and wine, and Hei Zi introduced Wang Peng to them, telling them that from now on they would be good brothers.
Er Cheng and Da Kui were very enthusiastic towards Wang Pengcheng, which moved him deeply. He was a Northeasterner who had lost his parents at a young age and wandered around alone, experiencing all sorts of hardships and suffering. Although some people had been kind to him and helped him, he had never met anyone like Hei Zi and the others who treated him with such sincerity and regarded him as a brother.
Da Gui was very curious about Wang Pengcheng's nickname "K", and only after asking did he learn that when Wang Pengcheng was wandering, he would watch others play games with envy, wanting to play but having no money. Every day, the only thing accompanying him was a comic book that had been read hundreds of times, one of the characters in which was called K, whom he admired greatly, and so he simply gave himself the nickname "K".
He finally found a kindred spirit, and he grabbed Wang Pengcheng's hand and said: "Brother, you also like to watch King of Fighters?"
Wang Pengcheng nodded and said, "Yeah, if I had the skills of Fist of Legend, no one would dare to bully me."
Heizi put a chicken leg in Wang Peng's bowl and said, "Peng, you are our brother, whoever dares to bully you is bullying all of us."
Peng Cheng looked at the chicken leg in the bowl and nodded: "Thank you, Hei Ge."
Wang Pengcheng doesn't drink much alcohol, but he can eat a lot; judging by his appearance, it seems that he rarely gets full.
Just as they were about to finish eating, Yin Le came in with two younger brothers, and Hei Zi introduced Wang Pengcheng to the three of them. Everyone poured themselves another drink and continued drinking for a while.
After dinner, everyone smoked while listening to Wang Pengcheng tell his story. The story was very tortuous and tragic, and the eyes of several people who listened were red.
In the following days, Heizi and Zhu Xiaofei took Wang Pengcheng to make the rounds in the town and county seat, introducing him to people they knew. Heizi's business was just starting out, he needed manpower, and Wang Pengcheng had to get familiar with the right people as soon as possible so that things would be easier to handle later on.
What Liu Pengfei appreciated most was Wang Pengcheng. After seeing Wang Pengcheng, he said to Heizi: "Old Five, this kid is not bad, reliable, you are really lucky, wherever you go, you can pick up treasures."
Wang Pengcheng is a man of few words and keeps a low profile. When he goes out, he quietly follows behind Hei Zi. When it's his turn to speak, he politely says a few words. When there's nothing to say, he remains silent, always staying close to Hei Zi.
In less than a month, Wang Pengcheng became familiar with everyone and fully integrated into the group. Er Cheng and Da Kui, Yin Le, and others all treated him as a brother. At this time, Wang Pengcheng rarely spoke or laughed, preferring to sit quietly by himself, as if thinking about something or recalling memories.
Spring's footsteps had just arrived when summer chased after, the weather suddenly turned hot, new buds on trees became large leaves, green trees shaded, flowers bloomed in profusion, everything became thriving. The road construction project in the small town has started, the city TV station even did an interview at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Liu spoke with great enthusiasm. Overjoyed Mayor Liu saw Hei Zi smiling more beautifully than a chrysanthemum.
Hei Zi received a call from Meng Fei, telling him that the storm of rectification in the mine had passed, and he could do what he wanted.
