Blue Cemetery Interview
Believe it, a story simmered over low heat will become more flavorful with time.
Luolian was guarding the phone and fell asleep while crying. Suddenly, the phone rang, and Luolian picked it up without looking: "Jing Wang?"
"What?" A strange voice came from the other end of the line, it was a biotech trading company, informing her to attend an interview. Luolian looked at the time, it was already past 8 o'clock in the morning, she didn't know how the night passed or what dreams she had. She got up, washed and went out for the interview. On the way, she walked slower and slower. She came out for the interview because wasn't that what she had been doing all along? Looking back on the past half year, from the sky starting to cool down to warming up again, but she didn't know how many interviews she had attended or roads she had taken, she often felt like she had walked a lifetime's worth of roads and was afraid her legs would break off, leaving no more roads to walk. In the end, it was still failure after failure, all those roads were walked in vain. If she didn't go for the interview, she would know the result, but knowing the result still required her to go, not going for the interview made her even more confused and unsure of what to do. Moreover, she knew that even if today's interview ended in failure again, tomorrow there would be a phone call notifying her, and she would still go as usual. She was really, really tired, but she had to keep moving forward.
Lotus's numb legs had already taken her to the bottom of the company building, she gritted her teeth and went up, the corridor was dark, with various cardboard boxes and plastic bags piled up on both sides, messy and crooked, leaving only a narrow passage, if she were any fatter, she might not have been able to squeeze through.
There was a sign hanging outside the door with the name of the biotech trading company on it. Lianlian knocked and entered, pushing open the door to reveal an even more chaotic scene than the hallway: tables, chairs, large boxes, small boxes, black plastic bags, white plastic bags, and a group of people shouting and rushing about among these items, speaking loudly on their phones, each one speaking fluently and quickly.
"I'm here for an interview." Lian said to the receptionist at the door.
"What's the interview for?" The girl at the front desk just glanced up briefly.
"Job interview." Lian replied in a low voice.
"I mean, what position? We're just short of salespeople here." The girl was getting impatient.
"I'm here for a sales interview."
"Then wait a minute." The girl pointed to the inner room on that side, "You go sit there, I'll go call the manager."
Luo Lian then went to the inner room and found a chair to sit and wait. After waiting for five minutes, no one came, she continued to wait, and after another ten minutes, still no one came, this was a small matter, Luo Lian was used to it. However, after waiting for more than half an hour, it was still the same. Luo Lian prepared to ask the front desk, if there was no one, she would leave.
"The manager is busy!" the receptionist said, just as the manager arrived and called Lian into his office. Lian handed over her resume, but he didn't look at it, instead tossing it directly onto his desk. "Our situation here is that sales doesn't have a base salary, but has high commissions," he said. "You take a look, if you think you can accept it, come to work tomorrow."
Lu Lian was stunned, she didn't know what to say. Every interview required a large amount of conversation, often lasting two or three hours, and then there would be multiple rounds of interviews. She hadn't expected this one to ask nothing at all, just telling her to come back the next day to start work.
Looking at Lian's dull expression, the manager asked: "I still have something to do. Do you still have any questions? Can you come tomorrow?" He said, already standing up and preparing to leave.
"Alright, alright, you can come tomorrow."
"Alright." The manager said and left.
