Chapter 7: Why don't we go skiing?
I think that as long as the girl on my back can be happy and will no longer suffer, then even if she never falls in love with me, it's all right. — Liang Chen
In November, the cherry blossoms in the campus have withered and fallen, leaving only bare branches.
The feeling of loneliness becomes more pronounced as the semester comes to an end. Liang Chen seems to be intentionally keeping her distance, but it's also possible that she's just busy with exams, and she can't tell which one is true.
If she knew that Liang Chen saw her and Wei Chi kissing, perhaps she would have understood. But after waking up from the wine that time, she had already completely forgotten about calling Liang Chen.
Jing also never attends school, recently she caught a cold and took leave to go back home.
A cat sat alone on a bare cherry blossom tree, gazing at a distant place, swinging her pretty little legs, looking bored. Then she saw several children chasing Santa Claus in red clothes running far away, surrounded by shops filled with Christmas decorations.
She suddenly remembered that today was Christmas, but the school didn't give them a holiday. Just as she was thinking about it, snowflakes suddenly started falling from the sky, fluttering down one by one. She looked up dazedly and felt an urge to jump out of the classroom and run home to find Wei Chi.
But will he be at home? He seems to have been very busy lately, thinking about how to sell his paintings every day, and hasn't been home much. Even if he is, he doesn't have time to chat with himself.
Thinking, the cat tilted its head and sighed towards the sky, but didn't notice that Liang Chen and Jing had already walked to the bottom of the tree without realizing it. Liang Chen originally didn't want to come, but thinking of the cat's recent lonely and desolate appearance, he couldn't help but feel some pity, plus Jing pulled him down, so he didn't refuse.
"Hey! Kitty!" Jing was jumping under the tree, waving her hands, her face red and puffy, wearing furry gloves on her hands. "Come down, let's go play, today is Christmas, we don't want to be stuck in school!"
Liang Chen stood quietly by, looking up at the cat tower.
"Are you leaving too?" The cat climbed down from the tree and looked at Liang Chen with excitement.
"Uh-huh." Liang Chen saw that Miao was so happy, she couldn't bear to dampen her enthusiasm. The snow fell more and more heavily, and soon a layer of white covered the ground.
They slipped away together to the foot of the hill behind, where the wall was low and some stones had been laid, so it was easy to climb out.
"Hehe, I'm out!" Jing Kai Xin jumped down from the wall with a smile, holding onto Miao Miao's hand. Liang Zhen finally landed softly on the ground.
"Where are we going?" Jing habitually asked Miao Nian. Seeing Miao Nian shake her head, she thought for a moment and said, "How about we go to your place? We can play in the snow."
"Alright then, what does Liang Chen think?"
"Go ahead. I have no opinion." Liang Chen said, turning his head away, not letting Mao Ni see the awkwardness in his eyes. He actually didn't want to see Wei Chi, but... Forget it, Mao Ni was rarely this happy.
Arriving at her home, the cat opened the door to find Wei Chi surprisingly at home, adjusting colors. Seeing them enter, Wei Chi narrowed his eyes and said "early" before suddenly remembering and asking if they shouldn't be in class today?
The cat waved its paw and calmly replied: "It's Christmas today, no need to go to class."
"Oh, I see." Wu Chi continued to draw after hearing that, secretly letting out a sigh of relief. For some reason, he always felt like he was being controlled by his parents. Liang Chen remained seated on the couch, staring out the window without saying a word.
"Why don't we go skiing?" she asked excitedly, rubbing her hands together. She hadn't played in the snow for a long time and couldn't waste this chance to skip class.
"Alright!" Wei Chi surprisingly agreed in one breath, looking at the thickening snow outside with eagerness.
