Chapter 9: Please Don't Let Me See You Cry
Note: Originally, home was a very distant existence for me, but because of Wei Chi, all of this has become real and natural, just like a cup of plain water, although unremarkable, it brings indispensable warmth, accompanying you through every day of your life.
Out of the Ming Ze prison, the three walked silently on the streets filled with cold air. Mao Ni wore a thick coat, and his body temperature and unique scent still lingered on the clothes.
She lowered her head and kicked at the pebbles by her feet, occasionally looking up at the sky.
This year's winter seems much colder than before. The cold wind has blown away the gloom on my head, but what I see is still a dull gray and white landscape.
When will it snow? My nose suddenly turned sour for no reason, and tears welled up in my eyes.
It really feels terrible, never had such a terrible feeling before.
A good opportunity was wasted like this, and she was powerless to do anything about it. She had vowed to protect him, but how could she when she couldn't even take care of herself? All she could ever do was talk big, never actually doing anything to help him.
Wei Chi seemed to sense her sadness, looking at her with deep eyes that seemed to be shining with something, and finally he reached out and gently stroked her hair, as if countless times before, filled with tenderness and affection.
Idiot... Don't let me see you crying again...
Jing had wanted to comfort her a bit, but seeing Wei Chi's actions, she suddenly felt like going back to school first. When they left in the morning, Lina was still lying on the ground, and now it was already noon.
Just opening his mouth, he hadn't spoken yet, when the mobile phone in his pocket suddenly rang out loudly, giving him a fright, because it wasn't his own phone that was ringing, but Lena's.
The cat also looked at her with suspicion, she knew it wasn't a clean bell sound.
She suddenly took out her phone and looked at it, her face turned pale, staring blankly at the phone in a daze.
Wei Chi was also somewhat perplexed and just wanted to ask when the cat snatched the phone, pressed answer, and put it to her ear.
"Why are you picking up the phone now, my big sister Lena? How's everything going?" The lazy voice, with a hint of social youth's coquettishness, made Cat wrinkle her brow at once.
This familiar voice belonged to He Kun, but his Lina had dealings with him at some point, and as soon as he opened his mouth, they started discussing business. Cat Ni seemed to have thought of something, held back her emotions, and responded with a muted "uh-huh".
"Are you feeling down again?" He Kun didn't notice anything wrong and instead smiled, "It's not a big deal. The fact that the guy didn't let you lay a hand on him is already pretty miserable for him. His days in prison will be long! You've also vented your anger, don't be unhappy anymore. When you're free, I'll take you out for a drink!"
Miao Ni's eyebrows were deeply furrowed, her fingers exerting a force that almost crushed the phone. What was said on the phone must have been good, but she never thought that Li Na would treat her own classmate like this. When did Li Na become enemies with Liang Chen? And when did she get mixed up with He Kun? Miao Ni had many questions in her mind, and she was also filled with anger and resentment, wishing to find Li Na immediately to clear things up.
"What's going on with this phone?" Wei Chi couldn't help but ask with concern, her beautiful face carrying a faint worry.
"It's nothing." The cat shook her head, she didn't want to drag Wei Chi into it either. "It's just a small matter, you go back first, I and Jing are going to school."
Jing quietly stood by, probably guessing something too.
Although Wei Chi was a bit worried, seeing Miao Rou's determined look, she fell silent and lowered her head to help her wrap her clothes tighter. She said "take care of yourself" before turning around and leaving.
He was thinly dressed, but his back remained straight, the cold wind blowing his flaxen hair backwards, the cat watched him until he got on a blue bus and disappeared from her line of sight before she withdrew her gaze.
"We have to go to school and find Lina, ask her what's going on." Miao Ni said as she turned back to Jing, pulling her hand. Jing's hand was a bit cold, just like in her memories, Xi Yin's hands were also icy cold.
The cat's whiskers twitched involuntarily.
"What's wrong?" Jing asked with a tilted head, her eyes shining brightly and black as coal.
"It's nothing." The cat forced a smile, hiding the turmoil in his eyes, and turned to face forward, away from Jing.
The blue shadow of the bus gradually appeared on the horizon.
"The bus back to school has arrived, let's go." Neko thought that he would be able to see Lina soon and a hint of coldness flashed in his eyes.
