Sound test
No matter how loud the BGM is, it can't cover up the fact that you're tone deaf.
It was soon Wednesday, the day of the professional audition that Sugita had mentioned.
This time, she had ample time to prepare and had been taking good care of her throat these days, trying to avoid loud conversations as much as possible. She also borrowed the DVD of X's beautiful girl from Er Ge Zheng Yi to study it, after all, she was a voice actor mainly for animation dubbing, and not watching the animation would be inexcusable.
Yuuka felt a bit uneasy about being treated so specially by her two seniors. She didn't have any suitable gifts on hand, so she had her mother make two boxes of traditional secret recipe sweets from their family to give to Sugita and Sekine.
The audition was in the afternoon, Yu Guo got up early. She put on light makeup and chose a light gray pure cotton striped dress before picking up pastries and leaving the house.
"Spring water."
Just as she walked up to the entrance of Atomic Ape, Yuka heard someone calling her. It was the voice of Aoi Yuuri, whom she had met before, very high and bright, with a high degree of recognition.
"Hello, Qingye," Yōguo smiled, looking at Qingye's extremely beautiful white silk dress. She felt that her own outfit looked like a gray Cinderella, of course, only the gray part, without the identity of Princess Cinderella.
"No need to use honorifics with me, we're all still inexperienced. I just didn't expect that we'd meet again in the re-exam, it seems like we have a chance to be colleagues after all." Aoba waved her hand, thinking that Yuka was also here for the re-exam with her.
"Ah, that... I'm not..." Yu Guo didn't know how to explain that she wasn't there for the re-interview of the previous audition, but rather for a completely different audition.
"Huh, are we going somewhere later? Why are you carrying two boxes of pastries? Could it be that you're treating us to a celebration after passing the re-exam?" Aoi glanced at Yuka's hands holding the two boxes of pastries and raised an eyebrow with a smile.
"Hmm, if you don't mind... " Yūka was too embarrassed to tell the truth, so she just went along with Aoba's words. Anyway, it would still be okay for her mom to do it, so this time she'd let Aoba and the others have their way.
"Izumi, what are you doing at the entrance? Come on up." Yuno Sasaki came down from the second floor and called out to her friend Yuka who was chatting with Aoba at the entrance.
"Alright." Yūgo quickly turned around and waved at Aoba, "See you later, Aoba."
"Uh-huh, go ahead." Aoi felt a bit strange as she slowly walked into the office. In the entrance hall, there was a bulletin board, and she stood in front of it, carefully looking it over.
On April 10th, our studio will hold a professional voice actor training class audition, and we welcome students to sign up. The registration time starts from January 30th and ends on March 30th.
"Professional Voice Actor Training Class?" Aoi couldn't help but take a second glance at the notice. She looked up, gazing towards the second floor, "Could she be attending two interviews?"
Following Ono up to the second floor, Yuuka immediately saw Kan Chiichi walking down from the other end of the corridor.
"Senpai, you're here really early." Kōji said, greeting him before Yūka could say anything.
"Hello, Mr. Guan. Good afternoon." Youguo bowed formally towards Guan Zhiyi, making a slight bow.
"Oh my, no need to be so formal. I'm not the kind of person who would force a girl to bow her head in public, haha." Kaito said with a smile, without considering whether Yuuka could understand the meaning behind his words.
"Hmph..." Kono Seki glanced at Seki Tomo with disdain, she was an old employee of the company and fully understood the attributes of this second-in-command.
"Ah, yes, Guan-senpai." Yuuko hadn't forgotten the two bags of sweets in her hand, and she quickly held out her hand to present them to Guan Zhīyī. "These are sweet treats made by my mom, I hope you and Sugita-senpai will like them."
Yuuko gives a gift to Kousaka, and Ono can't help but lift her hand, pushing up the glasses perched on the end of her nose. She raises an eyebrow, adopting a look of watching a play.
The voice acting industry is highly competitive, but getting in isn't that hard. It's rare to see kids like Shinomiya who send gifts before even passing the audition. Even that rich girl didn't do something like this.
"Thank you." Seki Tomokazu understood the contempt in Ono's gaze, so he directly opened the outer box, picked up a piece of apricot-colored cake and put it into his mouth. "Mmm, delicious. The mother of Izumi-chan must be a kind and gentle woman."
Ono furrowed her brow, stretching her neck to peer into the bag in Kanji's hand. There really was only manju, no valuable gifts or cash as she had imagined.
With a glance, Ono turned to Yuka again. Who is this girl, and why is Koji so attentive to her? From the beginning of letting her be the first in the first round of interviews, to now arranging for her to take a professional voice actor's audition test, everything was too strange.
"If you like, I can ask my mom to make some more." Hearing Guan Zhiyi's praise, Youguo smiled. She had no idea that at this moment, she had been analyzed and studied by Ono several hundred times.
"Let's go." Kōji wasn't being polite at all. He turned around and beckoned to Yuka, "Come on, I'll take you to the recording studio."
"Uh-huh." Yuka quickly followed after him, but she didn't forget about Ono, "Thanks, senpai. See you later."
"Go quickly." Ono had seen many people, and although she was a bit biased at first, with just these few words, she had more or less figured out the child's personality. He was basically a silly and cute guy who would definitely be teased by his seniors.
Following Kōji Ichinose, Yūka walked with him to a room at the end of the corridor.
After entering, Yu Guo only knew how small the interview room on the first floor was. This room is very large, with all kinds of equipment inside. Moreover, the sound insulation effect is quite good, after Guan Zhi closed the door, Yu Guo could even hear his own heartbeat pounding.
"Come, try the microphone." Seki Kazuki turned around and looked at Yuka, finding that she was wearing a pair of canvas shoes today, which were about the same height as his own, so he adjusted it to his own height.
Yu Guo Mai took a step forward. The soles of her canvas shoes were made of plastic, and they made a "ge ji ge ji" sound as she stepped on the floor.
"Haha, next time remember to bring a pair of slippers." Guan Zhiyi joked, himself wearing a pair of leather shoes.
He walked quickly to the microphone and then turned around and walked back to the door. "I'll go next door, you put on the headphones."
Yuiko hastily put on her headphones and saw Kaito arrive at the other side of the recording studio. It was then that Yuiko noticed several people were already seated there.
One of them was Sugita, whom she knew. The other three men were unfamiliar to her, but judging from their attire, they seemed to be high-ranking officials at the law firm as well. There was also a woman, Ono, who had brought her up earlier.
"Let's sing a song first." Kōji Itsuki said through the microphone to Yuka. He intentionally used the tone he had when paired with Chiaki Shinoda, which was supposedly the most popular among girls under twenty.
Sugita heard Seki Tomokazu's tone and couldn't help but roll his eyes.
Sitting on the same side as Kōichi Satō, of course, he couldn't see Sugita's contempt. However, in the recording studio opposite, Yuka could see it completely.
"Good." Yūko hadn't expected Kōji's voice coming from the headphones to be so captivating, that low tone full of masculine charm exploding in her ears, it was so good she couldn't help herself. Although she knew through Sugita's actions that Kōji was doing it on purpose, but as a voice actor, wasn't it normal to get into character in the recording studio?
The melody rang out in the headphones, and Yu Guo recognized which song it was. She didn't have the lyrics by her side, but she liked this song very much and had long been able to recite them from memory.
Kanji Ichinose raised his hand and pointed to Yuka's side, where a stack of documents was placed, including the lyrics.
You Guo still picked it up, she flipped open the small booklet and scanned the lyrics.
On the other side of the vast ocean, someone is being hurt.
Like a fledgling still unable to fly, I lament my own incompetence.
Sorrow, turn into wings soon
Scars, become a compass soon
This song is Nakajima Miyuki's "Ride on the Back of a Silver Dragon", her voice is very distinctive, with low and medium tones making the whole song very atmospheric. Yuka's voice is a few pitches higher, sounding slightly childish. But it's precisely this childlike quality that strengthens the prayer in the song, perfectly conveying the fragile emotions.
The man sitting in the middle suddenly burst out laughing and turned his head towards Sugita who was sitting next to him.
This action also made other people in the recording studio laugh together, but Yuka was still trying out sounds and they didn't show exaggerated expressions.
But Yu Guo didn't know the story behind it, she thought she was out of tune. After all, she had never used such high-end equipment before, did she perform abnormally?
My heart is filled with anxiety, and my singing voice has also lost its pitch.
The man in the middle furrowed his brow, and even Kan Chiichi, who had been smiling all along, puckered up his mouth.
"Alright, no need to sing." Kōchi pressed a button and the music in his ear disappeared instantly.
Yu Guo licked her lips, and her hands and feet felt a bit chilly.
"Turn to the second page, first take a look at the lines, use your understanding, and recite this monologue." Guan Zhiyi's pleasant voice sounded in his ears again, this time with a different tone, not as warm as before, but more sensual.
"Uh-huh." Yūka nodded and flipped the page, starting to study the word.
The author has something to say: Mei Xue's song is really good, Fan Wei Qi also covered it, but I think her version is dry. However, Mei Xue's low and medium pitch may sound a bit uncomfortable at first.
As for the leader's singing voice, I guess it's probably the worst among all the voice actors...
But surprisingly, that SM judgment was quite impressive, hahaha
I'm really struggling between saving drafts and updating as I write~
Spring Festival is really an annoying holiday~
