Chapter 9 The Prince's Banquet 1 Crossing Over Becomes Cinderella's Beautiful Sister Tian Xia Bookstore
Bedroom, after Lucas drove everyone out, Natalie went out and quietly closed the door. Lucas sat on the edge of the bed, quietly watching Lydia, who might have had a nightmare, started crying. Lucas pitied her and wiped away her tears, holding Lydia's face with both hands and gently kissing her forehead. Feeling Lucas' warmth, Lydia calmed down soon.
"Let me go! You can't take me away, I'm a servant of the Lucas family, let go, I'll report you!"
A servant downstairs was shouting loudly, and Lydia's eyebrows furrowed, her beautiful mouth downturned, as she was about to be startled awake by the servant. Lucas was furious - which unruly servant was this! He walked over to the window and looked down, only to see that it was actually a soldier of the Duke of Windsor escorting his own servant. Lucas exclaimed in surprise:
"Kristen, what crime has my servant committed? Where are you taking him?"
Christine saw the hostess of the party being bothered here and hurriedly asked someone to cover Sofia's mouth.
"Mr. Lucas, I have come under the orders of the Duke to bring a servant named Soya back to the estate."
"What? The Duke of Windsor has returned to his estate? Has he found Charlotte?"
"The duke asked me to give you a message."
"What did he say?"
"The Duke said that the black devils in the south suddenly launched a surprise attack, and he had to rush back to command the battle. He was very sorry not to be able to bid farewell to you. He also said that due to the suddenness of the incident, he could only take Miss Charlotte away with him under the cover of night. He will take good care of Miss Charlotte, and hopes that Mr. Lucas will not worry."
"I've found Charlotte! It's great! When I get back, I'll definitely express my gratitude to the Duke in person! I'm really thankful to him!"
Kristen scratched her head somewhat awkwardly
"The duke also said that he had a lot to say in this letter, and hoped Mr. Lucas would accept it, and there was no need to thank him, as he would come to visit you later."
Kristen pulled out a letter from her bosom and handed it to Lucas, the deep blue envelope felt heavy in his hand, obviously there was more than just paper inside. Lucas took the envelope and asked suspiciously,
"What does the duke want Sasha to do? Take Charlotte's nanny Kimi away, she is used to this nanny."
"Mr. Lucas, rest assured that our duke will definitely find the best servant to take care of Miss Charlotte. This Soya is specifically requested by the duke himself, and I don't know the reason either."
"The duke must have his reasons for wanting you to take him away, but considering this servant has served my family for many years, I'll still put in a good word for him and hope you'll take care of him on the road."
The soldiers who saw off the Duke of Windsor, Lucas hurried back to the bedroom, wanting to tell Lydia the good news. Natalie stopped Lucas and told him that Lydia was still sleeping. Lucas came out with some regret, but he couldn't suppress his excited mood and slipped into the kitchen to supervise the cooks.
At night, Lydia opened her eyes and saw a smiling face with wrinkles.
"Darling, our Charlotte has been found!"
Lydia's dazed eyes suddenly brightened, she looked around and didn't see Charlotte, sadly said,
"You deceived me, where is Charlotte? You didn't find her at all!"
Lucas immediately became anxious and puffed out his chest.
"When did I ever lie to you, dear? You don't believe me; surely you must believe the Duke of Windsor."
"Has the Duke of Windsor found Charlotte?"
"The situation in the south is urgent, the Duke of Windsor had no time to bid farewell, and could only take Charlotte with him."
Lydia's just-relaxed eyebrows furrowed again, Lucas seeing this, hastily comforted his wife.
"Don't worry, dear, the Duchess of Windsor will take good care of her."
A pale promise was not enough to reassure Lydia, who still looked unhappy.
"Darling, look at this thing."
Lucas curled up the corners of his mouth, got up and opened the bottom drawer of the dresser, pulled out a deep blue envelope from inside, Lydia took over the envelope, not knowing what Lucas meant by giving her a letter.
"You'll understand once you open it and take a look."
Lydia opened the letter with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity, inside was a folded piece of paper. She unfolded it carefully and read on, only to see that the letter began: "Dear Mr. and Mrs. Charlotte,"
The ring in the envelope is the engagement ring I prepared for Charlotte. I know it's reckless to say this, but it's the only way I can think of to put your minds at ease. Please hand over Charlotte to me, and from now on, she will be loved by me.
Windsor stays
Lydia turned the envelope upside down and shook it, a ring fell on the quilt, which was an ancient animal bone ring with intricate ancient characters engraved on its surface, looking mysterious and solemn.
"Could this be the bone ring on Ariel's mother's hand in Windsor?"
Lucas smiled even more brightly.
"Darling, you're really clever, just like I thought."
Lydia was happy for a short time, then thought of another worrisome thing.
"The prince's banquet, Charlotte can't go, what should we say?"
"It's also impossible to say that Charlotte is already engaged to the Duke of Windsor, so she followed him onto the battlefield."
Mr. Lucas is also worried.
"Otherwise, say Charlotte is sick and can't go."
"No, deceiving the king has been exposed and is punishable by beheading!"
The Lucas couple meditated for a while, and Lucas suddenly clapped his hands,
"There's no other way, let Cinderella pretend to be Charlotte, anyway the palace invitation list doesn't have her name on it, and Cinderella looks like Charlotte too, this is the best way to fool those cunning little people."
Lydia was somewhat reluctant to let Cinderella pretend to be her darling daughter, but Mr. Lucas was enthusiastic about the idea, knowing that Lucas had always wanted to make up for Cinderella, Lydia agreed tactfully.
On the day that Prince Henry was hosting a ball, Cinderella heard some thrilling news: Lucas was taking her to the royal dinner! Once her excitement had cooled down, Cinderella began to ask Allen why she was being taken to the dinner, as she had never had the chance before. In the small town, people only knew of Lucas' beautiful Charlotte and cheerful Katie, no one remembered her existence.
"Cinderella, this time there are four places for our family at the dinner party. Charlotte is not here, so you can fill in."
Allen glanced at Cinderella indifferently and said. Allen's reaction was not surprising, after all, he had a good relationship with Charlotte, and replacing her to attend the dinner party made him feel somewhat uncomfortable. Although thinking so, Cinderella still felt a little lost, she was cautious and careful at home, and also friendly to the servants, she couldn't understand why proud Charlotte won their hearts instead of herself?
Ellen didn't stay long, after informing Cinderella she left her room. After Ellen left, Cinderella opened the pink diary on her bedside table and turned directly to a blank page. What she wrote nobody knows, anyway everybody was not interested in what she thought.
