Chapter 4 Little White Kitten

Chapter 4 Little White Cat Becomes Cinderella's Beautiful Sister Tian Xia Bookstore

The beautiful scenery of the Golden Manor has nothing to do with its name, because Mr. Lucas spent countless gold coins to buy this forest and build a magnificent castle on the mountain, so it was named Golden Manor.

It's been over a month since they came here, and the Duke of Windsor seems to like this place very much. After sending Lucas' family away, he has been living in the manor as a guest. Lucas' family is also happy to have more opportunities for Windsor and Charlotte to interact with each other. Although both sides are tacitly aware of the situation, they get along harmoniously, except that Charlotte feels that Windsor is shamelessly overstaying his welcome at her home, encroaching on her territory, and stealing away her family members.

Time flew by, and soon the Golden Manor welcomed the warm spring. The ice melted, the snow thawed, the springs gurgled, and the wild beasts in the mountains woke up from their winter hibernation, starting to run around looking for food. Mr. Lucas accompanied Wynessa to hunt in the mountains every day, using the hunted game to please Lydia and Charlotte. At first, Charlotte still sneered at Wynessa's attempts to please her, until one day, Wynessa brought back a pure white little kitten. Charlotte loved cats the most. Katie seemed even more excited than Charlotte, who had received the gift, she exclaimed and jumped up to kiss Wynessa's cheek.

The big, wet eyes gazed dully at the new surroundings, the soft body docilely clinging to Charlotte's arm, tiny paws occasionally stretching out to touch and pat, revealing pink paw pads. Too lazy to give it a name, Charlotte directly called the little cat Xiao Bai (Little White), because of Little White, the Duke of Windsor finally didn't have to suffer from Charlotte's cold shoulder anymore, which made him rejoice for several days, fortunately he was clever, otherwise this/one/book/read-only cat would have been skinned and made into a hat.

When Father went out hunting, Charlotte, who was bored, wove beautiful lace with her mother and aunt. At first, when Charlotte said she wanted to weave with them, Lydia was startled, they all thought Charlotte had a fever and was talking nonsense, how could bookworm Charlotte be interested in weaving lace? In just over a month, Charlotte has learned dozens of ways to weave lace, occasionally Charlotte thinks about the fashion of the real world and incorporates it into her work, so although Charlotte's technique is not good enough, it is quite beautiful. Charlotte's talent made Lydia very proud, almost boasting to everyone she met. It wasn't until after Charlotte was obsessed with lace for a few days that she discovered her mother's good deeds, so Charlotte didn't dare go out anymore.

Because Charlotte loves reading, Mr. Lucas collects various interesting books for his daughter every time he goes out, some of which are in the Golden Manor.

Today, Charlotte suddenly wanted to categorize the randomly placed books. Unexpectedly, she found a book covered in thick dust under the bookshelf. Charlotte was excited and thought, "Could this be some kind of magic book?" After all, she had crossed over into a fairy tale world, and Cinderella had obtained beautiful clothes and a luxurious carriage with the help of a bird's magic. Maybe this book was specially meant for her to discover.

She wiped off the dust on the cover with her fingers, and there was no title on it. Maybe this book is too old, the paper is very fragile. Charlotte carefully opened it, inside were paintings of strange animals she had never seen before. Each painting had a description below, but unfortunately, Charlotte couldn't understand what language it was. She turned the book over and looked at it from different angles, but still couldn't make out anything. Charlotte put the book back on the shelf in disappointment, looks like magic is not for me.

After all this commotion, Charlotte didn't have the heart to read anymore. She decided to go help Lydia design her evening gown. As she opened the door to the study, Charlotte was caught off guard and stumbled upon Natalie, who had been standing there. The unhappy young mistress felt like blowing up at Natalie, but when she saw Natalie's white hair, Charlotte restrained herself and spoke coldly.

"Is anything big? If it's nothing serious, let's talk about it when I go down."

Natalie seemed to be unaware of Charlotte's anger and still gently pulled Charlotte downstairs, chattering all the way. It turned out that a palace attendant had arrived and was waiting in the hall to announce the king's decree. Hmm~ This attendant must have known that the Duke of Windsor was at Golden Manor, so he condescended to wait for them instead of just leaving after saying one sentence.

In the hall, Mr. Lucas, Lydia and Kitty paced back and forth anxiously, keeping the king's messenger waiting, wondering what Natalie was doing upstairs and why she hadn't called Charlotte down yet. The Duke of Windsor took in the expressions of the Lucas family, sipped his hot soup, and furrowed his brow. The sharp-eyed servant quickly took over the duke's cup, fanned it a few times before handing it back to him, with an expression and movement that was extremely obsequious, as if he were the duke's attendant. Seeing this scene, the Lucas family suddenly realized that with Windsor around, not only would they not be blamed, but the king's messenger might even try to curry favor with their future duchess.

The servant in the palace had long heard that the great Duke of Windsor was infatuated with Lucas's eldest daughter, but only heard about Charlotte's unparalleled beauty and had never seen her before. He had been curious about this beautiful future duchess for a long time. The reason why he waited so patiently for Charlotte was not only because of the power of the Duke of Windsor, but also his own curiosity.

His Majesty the King has decided to hold a dinner party three days later to choose a bride for the prince!

Seeing off the royal envoy, Charlotte was both delighted and worried. Delighted that the prince had fallen in love with Cinderella at first sight, worried also because of this - if Cinderella married the prince, she would no longer have the chance to collaborate with Windsor, he probably wouldn't bother her again, but if Cinderella became queen, Lucas would be fine, but her mother and sister would be doomed. Alas! NOZUONODIE! Now there's nothing to do but take it one step at a time.

The next morning, Charlotte, who had been tormented by yesterday's events all night, got up at the first crowing of the rooster. The morning garden was shrouded in mist, like a fairyland. Wearing a linen sleeping gown, Charlotte's face was unpowdered, her scattered golden hair fell to her waist, and her knees were exposed in the air. Her white skin had a healthy, flowing network of blue veins beneath it. Her small, delicate feet, clad in wooden sandals, made a crisp sound as she walked along the stone path between the flowers.

Tomorrow, she will set out to return to the city, today is the last hunt, Windsor decided to invite Charlotte together, did not expect to meet such a Charlotte in the garden, such an indescribable beauty, strolling among the flowers, Charlotte's beauty is not like that of this world, Windsor took a deep breath, afraid of startling the fairy.

In a garden of this size, the Duke of Windsor was so tall that even when Charlotte tried to hide, she still caught glimpses of him.

"Good morning, Your Grace of Windsor."

Windsor was taken aback - when had Charlotte ever spoken to her like that before? Never!

Seeing Windsor not responding, Charlotte pouted and turned to leave, but was caught by a large hand after just a few steps. Charlotte struggled, but Windsor's strength was too great.

"Come hunting with me, what do you say, Miss Charlotte."

"That's men's business, I've never been involved in it. Let go quickly."

"Who says women can't? Very interesting."

"Not interested, and I won't either. Let me go quickly, someone is coming."

Charlotte gazed tensely at the garden gate. The Duke of Windsor also followed Charlotte's line of sight and looked over, a figure was walking towards them.
