Chapter Thirty-Four: First Goodnight
On the calendar, September 22nd has a red circle around it, with "Young Master's Birthday" written below.
Sitting on the bed, Xiao Wei was in a daze. As for the news of her biological mother, she still felt somewhat lost. However, after talking to Young Master Yin, her determination became even stronger.
"Okay, let's read and keep up with Master's pace." She sat down at the desk and saw the red circle on the calendar. She sighed: "In six days, it will be Master's birthday. What should I give to Master? Let me think about it later, first, let's read."
The clock ticked away, and Xiaowei studied meticulously, every word, every question, she looked at carefully. When all the textbooks were finished, she took a deep breath, twisted her stiff neck, and glanced at the alarm clock - it was 11:30.
"Alright, sleep tight." She climbed onto the bed, turned on the electric fan and switched off the lights. Lying in bed, she thought about what gift to give to her young master.
She thought and thought, but just couldn't think of a good gift. If she wanted to buy something expensive, she wouldn't be able to afford it either. The more she thought about it, the more tangled her thoughts became. She flipped over in bed again, and rolled back, not feeling sleepy at all, staring wide-eyed and very much awake.
In the darkness, she suddenly sat up and a few minutes later, she appeared at the corner of the second floor corridor in Xiujia.
Because Mrs. Silla had to go to bed before ten, the Sewell house was almost dark after eleven, with only a small light left on at the end of each corridor for illumination.
Xiao Wei crept up the stairs with light steps, her movements very slow to avoid making any noise. Her limbs looked stiff as she walked down the dimly lit corridor in a white nightgown, her hair disheveled, looking like a female ghost.
Originally still shrinking hands, standing upright and walking, but for some reason, when going up the stairs, both legs became like soft bones, unable to stand firm no matter what, and finally ended up crawling on the ground.
In the deserted villa, the entire corridor was eerily quiet, and even the sound of swallowing saliva could be heard clearly. Xiaowei struggled to climb halfway up the second floor, took a deep breath, and was entangled in her mind - why did she suddenly go crazy and want to go to the third floor to take a look at Young Master's room?
She said she wanted to see the room, but in fact, she wanted to see the young master. However, at midnight, wasn't her behavior a bit strange and suspicious?
Forget it, the young master must be asleep, and going up won't reveal anything. She decided to retreat, but she felt unwilling to give up, having already climbed halfway up the second floor - how could she abandon her plan? She should go up and take a look!
Mmm! She nodded and continued climbing. One step, two steps, three...
"Huh? Did she catch something? It looks like a person's foot, this can't be happening."
"Are you possessed by a ghost?" Standing on the stairs, Xiuyi Chen looked down at Xiaowei with dim eyes, who was lying on the ground in an ungraceful posture.
"Uh, young master, you're not asleep yet?" Quickly getting up, Xiaowei hung her head in shame, feeling like she was going to die from embarrassment. How did she get so reckless and climb the stairs in the middle of the night, only to be caught by the young master?
"It's fine, just go make a cup of milk and bring it to my room." Xiu Ye Chen put one hand in his pocket, half-closed his eyes, and turned back into the room.
Xiao Wei was stunned, and suddenly came back to her senses: "Huh?" She lifted her head and saw that the door was closed. Rubbing her temples, she quickly ran to the kitchen, made some milk, grasped the cup firmly with both hands, and arrived at Xiuzhuo Chen's room door.
Taking a deep breath, she slowly raised her hand to knock on the door. Just then, the door opened and Xiū Yǔ Chén looked at her raised hand, saying calmly: "Come in."
"Oh." Biting her lower lip lightly, Xiao Wei walked into his room barefoot, her head slightly lowered, her eyes restlessly darting around.
This was her first time entering Young Master's room. Previously, she had passed by the door many times and occasionally caught a glimpse of him, but didn't know what his room looked like inside.
She glanced around and found that the young master's room was spotlessly clean, with every corner gleaming.
As soon as she walked into the room, she could see the floor-to-ceiling windows, and there were two sides of floor-to-ceiling windows. During the day, the light should be very sufficient. The view from the floor-to-ceiling window was particularly wide.
The room is very large, probably more than three times the size of hers. The layout design is simple, with a bed in the middle, small cabinets on either side of the headboard, a wall cabinet on the entrance wall, a desk against the floor-to-ceiling window opposite, and a huge TV screen on the wall facing the bed.
Although simple, it looks very spacious and grand, whether it's the floor or furniture, they are all the best and most expensive, unlike her small house, which is full of broken and tattered things.
"Master, can I put the milk on the table?" Little Wei carefully placed the cup down, trying not to make too much noise. She turned around and only then noticed that the wall beside the wardrobe was not a closet, but a storage cabinet.
There are many singers' CDs on the cabinet, as well as now rarely seen record discs.
"Wow, so many dishes!" She couldn't help but exclaim, glancing at the young master, pursing her lips, wondering if she had said too much.
"Yes, they're all my collection." Xiu Ye Chen looked at his own collection, slowly lowered his eyes, turned to look at Xiao Wei, walked in front of her, raised his hand and gently brushed against her cheek, then reached out to grab the milk.
Xiao Wei was stunned, her eyes following his hand as it moved, seeing the young master standing in front of her so close, she held her breath, her eyes darting to one side, not daring to look around.
Xiu Yu Chen picked up the milk and took a sip, not intending to leave. He lowered his gaze to look at her head, asking: "You didn't sleep all night, what were you doing crouching on the stairs?"
"Uh, I... " She hesitated and didn't dare to tell the truth. If Master found out that she was sneaking a peek at him in the middle of the night, he would think she's perverted!
"Don't climb around at night, what if you scare someone? Hurry back to your own room." He finished the milk in one breath, handed it to her, and sat down on the bed, ready to sleep.
Xiao Wei held the cup and hastily bowed, taking small steps to rush to the door. She thought for a moment and asked: "What kind of songs does the young master like to listen to?"
"Piano music." He replied lazily with his eyes closed.
"Oh, I'll go back inside then. Goodnight, young master."
"Good night."
Xiao Wei curtsied and heard the young master's goodnight, she couldn't help but be stunned. She stole a glance at him who had already closed his eyes, gently closed the door, and was very excited in her heart. This was the first time the young master said goodnight to her.
Back in her own room, she lay on the bed and drifted off to sleep with a smile. Now that she had a goal in mind, she knew what gift to buy.
The morning sunlight spilled in, knock knock knock, Ae-hyun knocked on Yoon Tae-oh's door: "Young master, I'm coming in." She pushed the door open and saw that the young master was still sleeping. Her gaze moved to the milk on the bedside table, which hadn't been touched at all.
"Master!!" Ah-hyun shouted, pulling Yoon Tae-oh up: "Master, why didn't you drink milk? Didn't I tell you to drink it?"
