Chapter One Hundred and Eleven
As I walked into the bookstore, it seemed like no one noticed my presence. Looking up at the bookshelves, they were packed tightly with all sorts of books.
I squinted and took a hard look at the bookshelf, looked at those review materials, and there were really many types, and the quantity was also very large, almost filling up the entire bookshelf.
To be honest, I don't know what materials to buy, but since I've already told Xiao Su that I want to buy review materials, I have to buy one today, otherwise, if she asks me tomorrow at school and I don't have any, I'll probably be suspected again.
"Classmate, which type of book do you want to buy?"
A middle-aged man walked over and asked me with a smile, he should be the boss of this bookstore.
"I said: 'Review materials!'"
"Review materials for third year of high school!" he asked again.
High three, is it true that this place only sells review materials for high three?
"Uh, do you have any high school study materials for sale here?" I asked him nervously.
"Yes, of course, there are not only review materials for high school freshmen, but also for sophomores and juniors, as well as for middle school and elementary school students. I just don't sell university review materials here, nor do I know what they look like!"
"Oh!" I said: "Then just give me a copy of high school first grade math review materials!"
Originally buying materials was just to fool Xiao Su, my math hasn't deteriorated to the point where I need to do review materials to make up for it, and I guess it's not too late to buy them when I get to high school third year.
"How can you be so careless!"
The boss suddenly turned his head, with a serious face, and said to me: "Although you are now freshmen in high school, the college entrance examination seems far away from you. However, the college entrance examination is not far away, at most two years, and two years of time is neither short nor long. Now is the time for you to lay a good foundation, grasp the time well, and build a solid foundation for your first and second year of high school. When you reach your third year of high school, because you have done more review materials than others, your learning will naturally be much easier!"
My goodness! I just wanted to buy a review book, but ended up getting a lecture from this uncle. I don't know whether I should blame him for being nosy or thank him sincerely for his kind reminder.
"Alright! Give me a copy of the most difficult math review materials then, and make sure the price is reasonable. If it's too expensive, I, as a high school student, won't be able to afford it!"
"Okay!"
The boss readily agreed, turned around and pulled out a slightly thicker data from the book pile and handed it to me: "Take a look! Huang Gang's math materials, I think ordinary students will find it difficult to do, and the price is not expensive, only twenty or thirty yuan, which is not considered expensive for you high school students!"
"Alright then!"
Huang Gang will always be Huang Gang, no matter how difficult a problem is, there's always a solution.
After I finished paying and walked out of the store, I was at a loss for what to do next. I didn't know whether to go left or right. Here I was, wandering around alone on the street in the middle of the night - this was truly the first time in my life that I'd been so bewildered.
Fortunately, there were many cars and people around. Although not many people were willing to come and talk to me, nor did many ghosts come to find trouble with me. I tried my best to walk in front of the doors where people gathered, looking around for a relatively regular taxi to take, lest I be robbed or worse at midnight.
After walking a few steps, suddenly, the sound of a motorcycle braking came from behind.
"Hey, pretty girl in front, why are you not going home so late at night and instead hanging out on the streets? Want to go out for a drink with your brother?" A middle-aged man's voice came from behind, his coarse tone carrying a hint of obscenity.
I've lived for 16 years, and this is the first time I've encountered such a situation. My heart can't help but feel a little excited, so I stop in my tracks and sigh with emotion: The most clichéd and cheesy plot twist in the entire universe has actually happened to me.
Just as I was feeling a little proud of myself, a woman's shrill cry suddenly rang out from behind me: "Let go of me! Let go of me! Come and let go of me!"
It turns out that the person to be teased is not me, which makes me feel a little disappointed. Turning around, I see a girl being dragged away by two middle-aged men.
"Stop!"
A martial artist must be brave and righteous.
I rushed over and grabbed the girl's arm, pulling her towards me, but unfortunately my strength wasn't enough to pull her over, and before I knew it, she had pulled me over instead, almost causing me to fall.
"Let go, this has nothing to do with you, if you don't want to die, leave quickly!"
Those two big men were not easy to mess with either. They had a fierce and sinister look on their faces, loudly shouting at me.
"You dare to flirt with decent women in broad daylight, you stinky men have no shame! Today, I'll take justice into my own hands and represent all the women in the world to teach you a lesson!"
I rolled up my sleeves, pulled the girl into my arms with all my might, and then kicked one of the ruffians who was holding her wrist. I turned around and kicked another ruffian's shoulder, taking advantage of their cries of pain to grab the girl's hand and rush forward.
What's the big deal about being in the dark? I don't care anymore, earlier I wasn't careful with my movements, and if those two ruffians caught me, it would definitely not end well.
"Stop, just stop for a moment!"
That girl I dragged along for several streets is now panting and out of breath.
Stop, how can I just stop like this? If those two rascals are still following us from behind, won't stopping be looking for death?
To be on the safe side, I turned my head around to take a look, and fortunately those two shady-looking men behind us weren't following us anymore. I stopped in my tracks, panting heavily without stopping.
"Are you okay?"
I turned around and asked her.
She bent down and panted loudly for half a minute before raising her head to reply, "No, no big deal. Just being teased by them didn't matter, but being pulled by you to run for so long almost made it a big deal!"
"You, you, you...” I pointed at her: “I've never seen anyone as heartless as you. I rescued you with good intentions, but you're still blaming me like this. Honestly, if I had known it would be like this, I would have let those two rascals take you away earlier!"
"Haha, now it's too late for you to regret!"
She stood up and smiled brightly, I just noticed that her height was only about 155 cm, but she looked very fashionable in her clothes, like a non-mainstream girl in society.
I asked her: "How old are you this year?"
