Chapter Six
I don't know, but Grandpa somehow managed to find this ancient garment. Looking at its shape, it seems a bit strange. Thinking about it, I realize that in Chinese history, there doesn't seem to be any dynasty where people wore this type of clothing.
On the front of my clothes, a snow-white fox is embroidered, lazily lying in a cluster of flowers, with its eyes narrowed, looking somewhat flirtatious. I feel a chill in my heart, holding up the trailing hem, and following behind Grandpa's back.
It's still early, and the mountains are already shrouded in a thick white mist. The dense fog makes it impossible to see what lies ahead. My ears keep ringing with the eerie cries of goblins, wailing sounds, and curses. Grandfather walks steadily in front of me, calm and composed, while I follow closely behind, too scared to dare look around.
"Hurry up and catch up, don't lag behind doing something slowly."
Grandpa's voice came from ahead, I responded with a sound, quickened my pace and followed up.
When we walked halfway up the mountain, a three-story wooden building appeared in front of us. That was our Xia family's ancestral hall. Grandpa went inside and took out a broom from the corner by the door and handed it to me, "Qinghe, go help your ancestors, sweep this house clean."
"Oh!" I reluctantly took it and agreed again, dragging the broom alone to go upstairs.
Because every 15th of each month, Grandpa would bring me here and then ask me to sweep the place clean, so until now, everything here is still quite clean.
I took the broom and turned around a few times on the stairs, feeling very bored, then dragged the broom to go upstairs to the second floor.
Away from grandpa, I couldn't help but complain. What's with my ancestors and his ancestors? Aren't my ancestors and his ancestors the same? It's really infuriating.
Lift your head and suddenly see a snow-white little dog on the second floor's god shelf.
"Wow!" I just can't help it when I see cute animals!
She threw the broom on the ground and ran towards the puppy, having completely forgotten about the cleaning task assigned by her grandfather.
That little dog, for some reason, saw me running towards it and seemed to glance at me with disdain, lifting its fluffy little paws to stretch out towards me.
"Wow, what an adorable little puppy."
I picked it up in one go and held it tightly in my arms, stroking its back gently with my hand. Its fur was so soft, its body so plump.
I picked it up with my hands, holding its two front paws, and examined it carefully. Its round eyes and long ears made me exclaim in surprise that it was a male. I chuckled and stroked its belly like I would pet my own dog, but suddenly heard a low growl, which startled me and made me quickly withdraw my hand.
"Qinghe, what are you yelling about up there? Hurry down and pay respects to your ancestors."
"Oh!" I replied, holding the puppy in one arm and dragging the broom down the stairs.
"Grandpa, look! I found a little dog in this temple, it's so cute! Let's take it home and raise it!" I picked up the puppy's two front paws and waved at grandpa.
"Little puppy?" Grandpa muttered to himself, turned his head and looked at me. Suddenly, his eyes widened, he stretched out his hand and trembled slightly as he pointed at me, "You... you this..."
A strange feeling rose in my heart, and I imitated him, "This... this... what is this?"
