23. The first meal at university
"Hello, I'm better than you!" Ever since hearing Xī Huà say that she was "weak", the boy's competitive spirit was instantly ignited. Although he knew that Xī Huà's English level and his own were not on the same level, a boy has to save face after all.
"Hmm...hmm..., I'm glad to meet you......oh......too." Zhi Hua forced a smile, feeling very awkward because she really didn't know what this guy in front of her was singing about. Moreover, she had another doubt: "This is our first meeting and I haven't even spoken yet, how did he know my English name?"
"Haha, Jia Nan's memory is not bad, I only told you once about Zhi Hua's English name and you remembered it!" The older sister didn't expect that the opening remarks of these two people who met for the first time would be so awkward. In order to prevent the atmosphere from becoming stiff, she could only try her best to mediate in between.
But the teacher's intuition told her: these two people have already gotten together!
From then on, Zhihua and Jia Nan had two classes together every week. And in class, Jia Nan, who was labeled as "poor foundation", was unexpectedly unafraid to show her weakness, from pre-class preparation to post-class review, every step of the way was unusually serious, even her cousin thought it was strange: "What's wrong with this kid? Why is she suddenly so hardworking?"
Actually, Jianan's initial idea was simple: "I'm a seven-foot-tall man, how can I lose to a little yellow-haired girl? Besides, I'm not stupid, if she can learn something, why can't I?! She wants a respectable opponent, doesn't she? I'll give her one!"
With this idea, Jia Nan began to devote himself wholeheartedly to English learning. In order to smoothly achieve his goal, he even temporarily put aside other subjects! Although this approach of robbing Peter to pay Paul was childish and laughable, his efforts were not in vain, and Ruo Hua soon discovered his progress.
There was one thing that Jia Nan did not expect, and that was that Zhi Hua found out about his progress but instead of showing admiration, he was sarcastic and mocking to the extreme. What's more unexpected was that when faced with such a temperamental girl, he didn't avoid her at all, but instead felt that arguing with her was an extremely pleasant thing! Sometimes, in order to think of ways to slightly outdo Zhi Hua on weekends, he would even specially set aside some time to practice and rehearse by himself.
Actually, Zhi Hua isn't that mean of a person, but why does she always target Jia Nan? The reason is simple: there are always girls waiting for Jia Nan at the classroom door after school, and every time she sees them, they're not the same person!
For this kind of playboy, spoiled brat, Zhihua's attitude has always been to despise them. So, she would naturally vent her discontent in a way that targets Jiayun everywhere. Only, she didn't know that Jiayun did all this just to get her attention...
And so, their course finally came to a successful end after one year.
In this year, Zhihua and Jianan were each other's "thorn in the eye, thorn in the flesh", openly competing and secretly fighting, but when the other encountered difficulties, they would both generously lend a helping hand. As a result, their interactions over the past year had also forged a deep "revolutionary bond" between them.
Although Zhihua had an absolutely contemptuous attitude towards Jia Nan's "playing with people", after a long time of getting along, Zhihua gradually realized that Jia Nan was not entirely useless either. The most obvious advantages were being willing to help others, humorous and kind-hearted; while Jia Nan also found a different feeling in Zhihua compared to other girls, such as her coolness, uprightness, cleverness and quick wit.
