Chapter Seventy Getting Closer Only to Realize Strangeness (Part 2)
Su Yisu looked a bit embarrassed, furrowed her brow and said: "But I still have class later..."
"Oh... then I'll wait for you after class..." A deep disappointment came from Jiang Fengchen on the other end of the phone.
Su Yisu's lips moved slightly, feeling somewhat unbearable, and more importantly, she was eager to see Jiang Fengchen, this feeling was stronger than anything else. It had been almost two months, a day without seeing him felt like three autumns.
"Chen! Wait a minute, I'll call you back later!"
Jiang Fengchen couldn't help but feel puzzled and asked: "What's wrong?"
"Wait and see." Su Yisu hung up the phone with a mysterious tone, took a few deep breaths, flipped out the class teacher's phone number, and dialed it.
Jiang Fengchen stood at the school gate, watching students in uniform hurry into the campus. A deep sense of loss suddenly emerged in his heart, and the iron gate blocked not only his footsteps but also his bittersweet memories. The streetlights on the campus road were dim, and people were bustling about, but he could only stand outside the gate as a passerby, reminiscing about the past. The hustle and bustle seemed very far away from him, leaving a somewhat melancholic aftertaste.
"Chen!" In a daze, he suddenly heard someone calling him. Jiang Fengchen hastily followed the sound and looked up to see that familiar figure excitedly running towards him.
"Chen!" Su Yisu panted, running straight to Jiang Fengchen's front, looking at him with mixed emotions, tears almost falling again. Chen, it seems like we haven't seen each other for a long, long time, I miss you so much.
"Ah!" Jiang Fengchen excitedly pulled her hand and looked at the school gate in front, puzzled: "How did you come out? You're going to be late."
Upon hearing this, Su Yisu glanced at the school guard out of the corner of her eye and pulled Jiang Fengchen to one side with a sly expression, answering smugly: "I've asked for sick leave from our class teacher."
"Sick leave?" As soon as he heard this, Jiang Fengchen suddenly became tense, looking Su Yisuo up and down carefully from left to right, "What's wrong with you?"
Su Yisu slyly stared at him, "I deceived our class teacher, otherwise how could I sneak out."
Jiang Fengchen's expression changed slightly, with a thousand words in his heart but unable to speak, he just held Su Yisuo's hands tighter.
Su Yisu smiled shyly, "Tonight's time belongs to us two. Where are you going to take me to play?"
Jiang Fengchen tilted his head and thought for a moment before saying, "There's still something I need to take care of. Can you come with me to the internet cafe first?"
"Internet... cafe?" Su Yisu was shocked, her eyes almost popping out of her head. She had always thought that internet cafes were chaotic places, and the fact that Jiang Fengchen had gotten into a fight with some young punks at an internet cafe and dropped out of school because of it only made her dislike them even more. But Jiang Fengchen's expression was as if nothing had ever happened.
She finally nodded silently. As long as two people are together, it doesn't matter where they are.
Jiang Fengchen skillfully led Su Yisou through several alleys and into an internet cafe. Jiang Fengchen opened two connected computers, then pulled Su Yisou to find a seat.
Su Yisu initially thought he might come back in a hurry, still having some unfinished business to attend to. However, she was surprised to find that after Jiang Fengchen hung up QQ, he opened the game webpage and started playing QQ Dance, eventually becoming so engrossed that he completely ignored her.
Su Yisu watched him play for a while, feeling bored, and had to turn around to listlessly prop up her chin, staring blankly at the screen. She had nothing to do and didn't want to chat with anyone, just aimlessly browsing web pages, occasionally turning her head to see where Jiang Fengchen was playing. Chen, why is it that I feel like there's an invisible barrier between us now?
An hour and a half later, Jiang Fengchen finally looked up from the game world, gazing at the listless Su Yisou, saying: "Yisou, let's go. Sorry, I neglected you."
Su Yi smiled faintly and shook her head: "No, let's go."
As they walked out of the internet cafe, Jiang Fengchen gazed at the bustling streets and asked, "Yi Su, where do you want to go?"
"Flow Scenery Park!" "Flow Scenery Park!" The two of them exchanged a smile, hands clasped together, and strolled slowly towards Flow Scenery Park. Occasionally, an uncle or aunt with a busy expression would hurry by, or a sweet couple would glance at each other, exchange a tender smile, and then look away. The lights on either side of the road cast long shadows behind them, the mottled shadows on the ground shimmering like fireworks, warm and vibrant. Su Yisuo's earlier melancholy had unknowingly dissipated.
Two people walked leisurely and slowly, taking half an hour for a 15-minute journey. Standing at the entrance of Liu Jing Park, Jiang Fengchen looked up at that familiar big stone and sighed: "I have a feeling of fallen leaves returning to their roots."
Su Yisu snorted with a smile, "You talk as if you've been away from home for many years."
Jiang Fengchen also smiled and looked around, saying: "The flowers in the park have been changed again."
Su Yisu also felt a sense of nostalgia, "December is the month of the dwarf cowherd. In southern winters, you can't miss the silhouette of the dwarf cowherd."
"Short-haired cow?"
Su Yisu lowered her head and whispered: "Huayu, don't worry, with you I feel warm."
"Is this referring to me?" Jiang Fengchen said loudly.
Su Yisu glared at him and strode into the park with a feigned anger.
Two people strolled along the familiar road, neither of them mentioning those quarrels, those cold war days. It seemed that all the past torments and pains were just a nightmare, and after waking up, time was still warm, and each other was still as warm as the morning sun. Just like the dwarf cowherd, with you, it feels warm.
As they walked out of Liu Jing Park, the clock had just struck ten o'clock. The two of them stood at the park entrance in a daze, unsure where to go next.
"After a long while, Jiang Fengchen spoke up: 'Shall we go take a walk at the supermarket across the street?'"
Su Yi nodded obediently at the location.
As soon as they stepped into the supermarket, a newly built underground amusement park entrance caught their eyes. Jiang Fengchen exclaimed in surprise: "When was this built?"
Su Yi looked at the somewhat eerie passage and shook her head in confusion, "I don't know, I rarely come out, probably sometimes."
Jiang Fengchen was somewhat eager to try, and he turned his head to look at Su Yisu with expectation, "Shall we go down and take a look?"
Su Yi originally wanted to say no, but looking at Jiang Fengchen's expectant face, she couldn't bear to refuse and nodded her head.
Jiang Fengchen excitedly pulled Su Yisuo inside.
Under the corridor was a long flight of stairs, each step very narrow, Su Yusu walked with some difficulty, subconsciously gripping Jiang Fengchen's hand tightly, afraid that if she wasn't careful, she would trip and fall.
Probably because it was a basement, the air in the game center was very thin, and there was a strong smell of smoke. Su Yisu felt a bit suffocated in her chest, and the loud and piercing music kept hitting her ears. She wanted to pull Jiang Fengchen around, but seeing his enthusiastic face, she endured it and quietly raised her hand to cover her mouth, letting Jiang Fengchen lead her around.
Jiang Fengchen exchanged game coins at the service desk and stopped in front of a game console, turning his head to Su Yisu with great interest: "Yisu, let me show you my superb gaming skills."
Su Yisu pulled out a faint smile and stood behind him watching him play.
Staring at the constantly popping up screens, Su Yisuo felt dizzy and confused, for someone who had never been in contact with these things before, they were like heavenly books that made no sense. After watching for a while, Su Yisuo felt her eyes getting tired, so she blinked and looked around. The arcade was crowded with people, some playing, some watching, all with great interest. Su Yisuo suddenly felt like an alien who had accidentally entered a completely strange world, exposed in front of everyone, feeling ashamed and unbearable.
Fifteen minutes slowly passed in her long wait, Su Yisu finally couldn't bear the oppression, tugged at Jiang Fengchen's hem and said: "Chen, let's go."
When she came out of the basement, it was already very late. The streetlights along the way were unusually bright. Su Yisuo greedily took a deep breath, and the long-lost fresh air was so lovely.
Jiang Fengchen glanced at the time, "I'll send you back, it's very late."
Su Yisuo nodded silently.
Two people walked along the road, Su Yisu lowered her head and didn't speak, but in her heart, she had already turned over thousands of times. In just three short hours, I seemed to have clearly seen the gap between us. We were together, but we didn't fit in with each other. You liked going to internet cafes, underground rooms, playing all sorts of games, while I only wanted to walk slowly along the long streets, go to the ecological park and climb mountains. Why did it feel like we had already gone our separate ways, even though we had only been apart for two months? I felt a strange atmosphere.
Su Yisu raised her head and gazed at the dazzling neon lights that filled the sky, suddenly feeling a pang of sadness.
