Chapter 50: New Classmate

  Chapter Fifty New Classmate

"It seems that the teacher took the parents to our classroom for a visit." At the school gate, Xiang Yangchen replied indifferently to Xu Yu's question.

Xu Yu Jie nodded while walking to the entrance of the teaching building, turned around and took off her backpack, then said to Xiao Yang Chen: "I'll go take a look, you wait for me here."

Xiao Yangchen took over the school bag and asked: "Don't be silly, Teacher Yu is upstairs, if you want to see a handsome guy, it's not urgent at this time."

Xu Yu Jie smiled and said: "I left a bag in the classroom, I came back to get it and take a look at the handsome guy along the way, hehe."

Xiao Yangchen thought for a moment and then said: "You wouldn't have deliberately left your wallet in the classroom, would you?"

Xu Yu Jie didn't answer, and directly walked into the teaching building, heading towards her own classroom. The distance wasn't too far, after all, they hadn't changed floors this semester, still on the second floor. After climbing up the stairs on the first floor, she heard Teacher Yu introducing the situation of their class in the classroom, apparently the door was half open.

"Our class had many students transfer out last semester, I think it just means those students couldn't adapt to the environment here. Fongmao Middle School is still not bad, you guys sending your kids here made the right choice, just like me, I chose this junior high school myself back then." Teacher Yu's voice came from the classroom.

Xu Yu Jie snorted and thought to herself: It's not that you chose the school, I think it's Fung Mo Middle School that chose you to teach. You've only been here for a short while, but you're already acting like one of the old teachers who have been around for years.

Xu Yu Jie arrived at the classroom door and saw that inside, standing by the window, was Teacher Yu, as well as the nine new students who had just transferred in, along with their parents. Some of her new classmates' parents were also there, but Xu Yu Jie noticed one student standing alone in the corner, apparently without his parents accompanying him to report for school.

"Ah," Xue Yu Jie said casually, knocking on the door as she looked in, and when the teacher turned to look at her, she walked into the classroom and said, "Teacher, I left something on my desk, would you mind if I go get it?"

The teacher waved his hand, clearly not very satisfied with Xu Yu Jie's way of interrupting his passionate speech. Xu Yu Jie saw the teacher's emotions and quickly walked to her seat to get something, just about to leave, she said to the student in the corner: "Are you also a new classmate? Didn't your parents come with you?"

The student standing in the corner heard Xu Yu Jie ask this, and walked out from the corner. Xu Yu Jie carefully sized up this boy, whose skin tone looked not much different from Ou Yang's, and who also wore a pair of glasses, looking quite similar to Ou Yang's silly appearance.

"Hello, I'm Li Quan." The boy stretched out his hand and Xu Yu Jie smiled slightly before walking over to shake hands with him. The boy continued, "My parents are quite far from here and they're too busy at work, so I came by myself."

Xu Yu Jie said: "It's okay, from now on if there's anything in this class, just tell me and we'll be friends from now on."

"Alright, alright, there will be plenty of opportunities to talk later. Just take your things and go back now." Teacher Yu seemed a bit impatient, so Xu Yuejie turned around and walked out of the classroom.

Outside the teaching building, waiting was Xiao Yangchen with two school bags. Not long after, she saw Xu Yuejie hopping down from the stairs and could probably guess something, so she walked over to ask: "What's up, found an interesting new classmate?"

Xu Yu Jie took her school bag from Xiao Yang Chen's hand and said, "It's okay, those two girls are just average. Among the seven boys, there are still a few good ones, especially that one named Li Quan."

Xu Yu Jie was about to continue speaking when the phone in her bag rang. She picked it up and answered, "Hello, Chen Xi? I've just finished picking up my things, I'll head over to your place now, wait for me."

After hanging up the phone, Xu Yu Jie turned to Xiao Yang Chen and said: "Let's not tell others about us coming back to school today, especially Ouyang."

Seeing Xu Yu Jie's serious face, Xiao Yang Chen nodded slightly.

The days passed quickly, and the three days soon passed. Ouyang was about to start his first day as a second-year junior high school student. He didn't care about the course schedule or new teachers, new activities. What he cared most about was whether he could maintain a good relationship with those nine new transfer students and ask them about interesting things in the other two districts besides CD.

So, Ouyang got up very early that day. Although it was early, it was still later than the time he usually got up in District D. His mother, Feng Hongyan, had already prepared breakfast before Ouyang woke up and then went to work. She said the day before that she had to get up early today because a colleague's car had some problems, so she had to take the bus. After getting out of bed, Ouyang washed his face and came to the kitchen. On the table was a sandwich with the first layer being Ouyang's favorite soy sauce egg. He thought that his mother would also make it, remembering that when he was young, his father made the best soy sauce eggs.

After cleaning up the kitchen, Ouyang returned to his room to pack his bag. Since it was the first day of school, Ouyang did the same as before and stuffed all the textbooks into his backpack, so he wouldn't have to carry many books later on and could just put them directly on his desk. He would only be tired during the beginning and end of each semester.

After everything was in order, Ou Yang put on the C district uniform he disliked the most and went downstairs. When he arrived at the entrance of the community, Xu Xue Mei had already been waiting there for a while.

"You're three minutes late, Chen Xi." Seeing Ouyang's heavy backpack, Xu Xue Mei smiled and said.

"I don't know why, but I feel like this semester's backpack is much heavier than it was in first grade." Ouyang greeted Xu Xue and the two of them walked to school together.

After crossing the road, he was about to enter the Le Fang community. At the entrance of the community, Ouyang saw that familiar commuter car and said, "Wang Lin is probably already in class."

Xu Xue Mei nodded and said: "I really didn't think this guy would still be insisting on getting up so early to catch the commute now."

Ouyang smiled and continued walking, Ouyang still went to the warehouse to buy a bottle of milk tea. Xu Xue knew that this was Ouyang's preparation for losing the bet. On the way here, Ouyang did not see Xiao Zhu's commute car, but he still made preparations, lest he be ridiculed by Xiao Zhu again.

Ouyang and Xu Xue Mei arrived at the class, and at a glance, they recognized the nine new classmates, because only their school uniforms had not been issued, to know that in Fengmao Middle School, not wearing a uniform would deduct many points.

Ouyang sized up each of the newcomers, those two girls weren't very tall, if they were placed in the third or fourth row, they might be a bit behind, Ouyang thought to himself, when suddenly something hit him on the head, he turned around and it was Xiaozhu holding a bottle of Coke.

"What's wrong with you guys? Not even a greeting." Ouyang said, rubbing his own head.

"Who made you stare at those two new female classmates so intensely?" Xiaozhu said, and Ouyang immediately fell silent.

"How did you come today? Didn't see your company bus." Ouyang opened a can of Coke, took a sip, then pulled out a milk tea from his bag and handed it to Xiaozhu.

"These two days I've been getting up very late, today suddenly had to get up early but didn't, so he sent me here." Xiaozhu said while tidying up her own desk.

"He is Ma Yinglong." Ouyang said, and Xiao Zhu nodded.

After a while, Teacher Yu walked in from the door and said to the students in the class: "Everyone knows that our class has nine new classmates. Now let them introduce themselves."

After the teacher finished speaking, the nine new students sitting below took turns walking up to the podium to introduce themselves. Ouyang roughly listened and it was nothing but some clichés, such as "Hello everyone, I hope we can become friends." Everyone said more or less the same thing, and Ouyang only remembered a boy named Li Quan, who seemed like someone with the same personality as him, and they would definitely become good friends. There was also a Zhang Hao, who seemed to get along well with Zhou Feng. And then there was Zhao Wei, who gave Ouyang an arrogant impression, just like Zhao Junyi from last year. As for the other new students, Ouyang didn't remember them clearly, and the two girls spoke too softly for him to hear.

"Did you hear the names of those two new female classmates?" Ouyang patted Wang Lin in front, and Wang Lin leaned back, answering softly: "No, I only remember one surname Su, one surname Lü, didn't quite catch what they were called."

"Alas." Ouyang seemed somewhat disappointed, but Zhou Feng behind him smiled and leaned forward, whispering to Ouyang: "If you want to know, just ask after class, as long as you're not afraid of being rejected by Yu Jie."

"If I wasn't afraid, I would have shouted loudly just now that I didn't hear clearly." After Ou Yang said this, Zhou Feng laughed even more happily.

The first lesson of the new semester was Mr. Yu's math class. For Ouyang, although he wasn't really interested in math and felt that changing teachers wouldn't make a difference, to be honest, he thought Mr. Yu taught much better than last semester's Cheng teacher. Ouyang also observed his classmates around him and saw that they were all listening attentively, wondering if it was because Mr. Yu taught well or if the students just wanted to study hard in the new semester, or if they were just pretending like he was, in front of the new teacher and class advisor.

The class time passed quickly, and judging from the expressions, both the teacher and classmates generally felt okay. When the class was over, the nine new classmates were instantly surrounded by everyone who wanted to get to know them. Xu Yu Jie also told Ou Yang: "You should go and get to know them too, after all we'll be together for three years." So Ou Yang followed Yu Jie's advice and went to greet Li Quan and Zhang Hao. Unexpectedly, Zhang Hao was very straightforward and suggested they have lunch together that noon. Seeing how happy he was, Ou Yang didn't refuse him.

The language class in the second period didn't go as smoothly as Mr. Yu's math class. Because everyone liked Mr. Pan, this new teacher, Mr. Yang, seemed less welcome. In Ouyang's opinion, Mr. Yang's teaching style was much more dull than Mr. Pan's, and most of his classmates couldn't muster up any interest. Wang Lin even argued with the teacher during class. Mr. Yang didn't get angry, but just said: "I know your class has a lot of opinions about me coming to teach you, but things that have already been decided can't be changed. Wang Lin, come to my office after class."

"It seems like we have to take them down one by one." Ouyang thought to himself, and couldn't help but admire Teacher Yang's courage.

The morning passed incredibly quickly, and during the exercise session, Ouyang's second-year junior high school class was arranged in the center of the playground. I remember that when they were first years, the school had placed them under the shade of trees on the left side to avoid making new students feel too hot. It seemed that this semester, Ouyang and his classmates would not be able to enjoy such treatment.

At noon after school, Ouyang and Zhang Hao, Li Quan were preparing to go eat lunch together. Xu Yu Jie and Xiao Yang Chen also wanted to join in, so Ouyang agreed.

This meal was eaten very happily, Ouyang found that although Zhang Hao and Zhou Feng belong to the same type of people, Zhang Hao obviously talks a lot more than Zhou Feng. As for Li Quan, he is a careful listener who occasionally expresses astonishing insights.

"By the way, what did your language teacher want to talk to you about?" asked Ouyang while they were eating. Wang Lin just shook his head and didn't say anything, which made Ouyang feel that something was off.
