Chapter 13 of Volume 1: Joyful Harmony
Xia Yan shrugged and pointed at Xia Enqi.
"No, no, no!" En Qi said with a pleased smile, wagging his index finger. "This is my little secret, I can't tell you, or it won't work!"
In the kitchen.
The kitchen, no larger than a palm, was filled with thick smoke that irritated the nose and throat. Poor Xinyue was holding a cookbook in one hand and stirring the pot with the other, working hard to make dinner.
Father Xia crept in quietly and looked at his busy daughter, feeling a sense of relief and boundless happiness.
Her long hair was braided into a ponytail, tied with a handkerchief, casually draped over her back. The clean and tidy long apron fit perfectly, from behind, you could see her slender figure, swan-like neck, waist that could be grasped in one's hands, and her long, smooth legs.
At that moment, Xia Xin felt his eyes getting dry and gritty like sand had fallen into them. The scene before him seemed familiar, many years ago he too had stood there warmly and intimately, with a cigarette in his mouth, watching his wife cook, ready to lend a hand at any time. But all of this was now in the past, gone forever.
Now both daughters have grown up! Xia Xin smiled and sighed, accidentally inhaling some oil smoke, and suddenly started coughing violently.
"Huh, Dad...Daddy?" Xinyue turned around. Xiaxin looked at his daughter's tear-filled eyes and red, swollen eye sockets (smoked with oil fumes), feeling extremely heartbroken, snatched the cooking utensils from Xinyue's hands, and gently said: "Good girl, go sit down and rest, Daddy will handle it."
Her father's tenderness made Xiang Yue's heart skip a beat, and she naturally regarded him as the closest person to her. Her heart was filled with grievances, and she had an urge to rush up and cry loudly. Thinking back to when she was at the Yin family, no matter what, she was still the young master who received all the love and pampering, although she always tried to be a ordinary high school student, not wanting her classmates to know that she was a rich young master, but the feeling of being doted on by her family was extremely enjoyable.
It's not like now, everything is going against my wishes, and I'm being bullied by others. That famous saying is right, it's easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to go back the other way. I suppose Qingchi must be living a very comfortable life now...
"Dad, it's nothing! Let your sister exercise a bit more, she just doesn't do enough housework," Enqi suddenly came in and chattered on for a while, finally managing to drag Xiaxin out. As they were leaving, she whispered menacingly into Xinyue's ear: "Hmph... you don't want Dad to know about you and your boyfriend playing lovers' bath in the bathroom, huh? Hehe, sister won't make things difficult for you, just listen obediently and it'll be fine, this is our little secret!"
Xīn Yuè's face suddenly turned red, she had long wanted to explain that Qing Chi wasn't her boyfriend, but saying so would only make her sister think she was a promiscuous woman (good, Xīn Yuè could already consider things from a woman's perspective) and the more she talked, the less clear it became.
Oh!
。。。。。。
Thinking that I'm really a failure, being bullied by my ex-girlfriend and now boyfriend Yeon Jun-suk is one thing, but even my own sister has to threaten and intimidate me. Why am I so weak? Is it because people take advantage of kindness or are they kind because they're taken advantage of?
Xia Enqi is a shrewd and capable woman who currently works as a packaging test engineer at Intel. Although taking care of her sister is understandable, even Xia Xinyue, who originally had a fiery temper, was often manipulated by her sister like a little white mouse, and now Xinyue has transformed into a well-behaved girl, which makes Enqi love her even more. However, bullying her sister is one of Enqi's greatest pleasures, and it's hard to change this in a short period of time.
As for Enqi's temperament, her mother Shi Zhenqin cannot shirk the blame. Being willful, arrogant and fond of playing pranks seems to be a habitual behavior of the women in the Xia family (including Zhenqin), while the men, namely Father Xia Xin and younger son Xia Yan, are gentle and honest.
Although Xiaoyan is the only youngest son, he is not spoiled at all. This is similar to Qingchi in the past and Xinyue now. Although he is a powerless little emperor, his joys and sorrows are always tied to the hearts of his family members, so Xiaoyan's words still have some weight. However, they were roughly cleaned up by his second sister.
In fact, Xia Yan doesn't hate his second sister Xia Xinyue at all, but rather admires and likes her very much. Although she is a bit rough, she always protects him. With such an awesome backing, why wouldn't he be happy?
But after his mother, Jianqin, left home in a fit of anger a few years ago and never came back, Xiaoyan lacked too much maternal love, and the wild part of his heart grew quietly, especially at school, he was unwilling to communicate with his classmates, becoming more and more introverted, and lacking proper guidance, it's really a headache.
Xia's dining hall.
The table was a mess, with food scattered all over like clouds blown away by the wind, not a single grain left, no water remaining, pots and bowls and chopsticks were stacked together in a disorderly manner, resembling an abandoned construction site.
Father Xia Xin closed his eyes, leaning on the chair, with a cigarette in his mouth, looking like he was having the time of his life.
Xia En raised her legs and casually brushed her long hair to one side, half-turning her face to make a phone call.
Look at the smallest brother again, patting his belly with a satisfied smile, squatting down to start playing with the big tank dog, sorry, it's the big dog tank that started playing.
It seems that everyone is very satisfied with the meal! Although it was a hard work for half a day, this meal can be said to be very successful! It seems that when I was at YIN's house before, often watching Fat Uncle cooking in the kitchen has silently guided me, and now I realize that I have benefited a lot from him!
But...
It seems like nobody wants to wash the dishes...
