Nanmu San

  Chapter 52: Nanmu San

Just when I was reflecting on my poor relationships and how there was no one to rely on at critical moments, Qiao Nanmu strolled over with a carefree expression and said, "I'll send you off." His casual and nonchalant demeanor left me momentarily unable to grasp his thoughts.

My intuition told me to refuse, but I hesitated for a moment. After all, at this point, no one else would help except Qiao Nanmu. But I felt that since Qiao Nanmu and I had just met for the first time and didn't have any relationship, and because of Qiao Yunge's ambiguous words which had caused me trouble for a long time, my rationality also told me not to get too close to Qiao Nanmu.

The surrounding eyes seemed to be looking this way, and Qiao Nanmu seemed to be the focus of attention forever.

"No need, Su Su and I will head back first." Ning Jing's gentle smile remained, but I saw the strain in her eyes. She put her arm around Su Yan, gave me a complex look, and said, "Sorry, A Qian, we shouldn't have come in the first place, it was trouble for you." Her tone was somewhat inexplicably distant, probably still blaming me for not speaking up for Su Yan.

I froze for a second, then nodded and suppressed the panic in my heart, saying: "Take good care of SuSu."

Quietly pulling Su Yan away, her back was thin and frail, and Su Yan's departing footsteps still had some abnormal stiffness.

I suddenly felt a little down, turned my head and looked at Xu Luokai who was chatting with people around him, and couldn't help but scratch my hair irritably.

"Gu Qing." Qiao Nanmu still stood beside me, his deep eyes fixed on me, calling out my name in a cold tone.

I almost forgot that Qiao Nan was still here!

I coughed and asked indifferently: "Is there something Young Master Qiao wants?"

"It's nothing." Qiao Nanmu said, "How about I help you leave?"

I stared at him in astonishment and after a while, I asked: "Why help me?" At that moment, only one sentence flashed through my mind: No one offers kindness without ulterior motives.

"Because I don't like this kind of occasion either." Qiao Nanmu's eyes revealed a hint of fatigue, and he said with a half-smile: "You might as well just think that I'm using you as an excuse to leave, it's fine that way."

I hummed in agreement. Qiao Nanmu made a particularly gentlemanly gesture of invitation, and I pretended to be proud and left first.

I think if this gets out, it'll definitely be the headline: "Gu's Young Lady Plays Hard to Get, Qiao's Third Young Master Takes the Bait."

I never thought that my life would be connected to Qiao Nan, and I never even imagined that one day I'd be sitting in his car, silently accompanying him on a journey.

As I passed by a store, I couldn't help but ask Qiao Nanmu to stop the car. The store had my favorite pastries, and since I hadn't eaten much, I immediately got out of the car to buy some. After hesitating for a moment, I also bought a portion for Qiao Nanmu.

Although I don't know if someone like Qiao Nanmu would eat this kind of thing, I still bought two portions, just to thank him for sending me home.

It wasn't until I got back to the car that I found out Qiao Nanmu had fallen asleep. I rolled my eyes in frustration, and was about to wake him up when I hesitated with my hand suspended mid-air.

I looked at Qiao Nanmu's handsome profile, his eyebrows were slightly furrowed, as if he had some worries. He breathed steadily, and under his eyes there were still faint dark circles, although they were very light, but because we were too close, I could see them clearly.

Even in a deep sleep, he seemed to be sleeping uncomfortably, with one hand propped against his forehead and the other hanging quietly on his leg. Qiao Nanmu was the kind of boy who had a very English air about him, but his demeanor was calm and aloof; if only he could smile more, he would probably attract even more girls.

As I thought about it, I was somewhat distracted.
