Chapter 37: 30
30、
Xiao Qiang circled around the ashes of Xian Er's body, carefully observing them from several different angles. Then, he stopped in his tracks, squatted down, and stared at the ashes intently.
The ashes were white, mixed with metal ornaments on the clothes. Such a big fire, those metal ornaments didn't burn out, still intact, shining brightly in the sunlight.
Xiao Qiang stood up and reminded the detective beside him: "Protect the scene well and take more photos."
After finishing speaking, he turned his head and left.
"Xiao team!" Feng Jing chased up, "That murder case just now was so strange, the whole person was burned to nothing. Is it the legendary human spontaneous combustion phenomenon?"
Xiao Qiang turned around and glared at Feng Jing fiercely without saying a word, then strode into the small woods.
Some young detectives burst out laughing. Feng Jing secretly admired Xiao Qiang, which was a well-known fact in the detective team.
Feng Jing made a face at those male detectives and hopped away to chase after Xiao Qiang.
In the small woods, Xie Yuchun's body was lying on his back in the grass. From a distance, it seemed as if he was sleeping. As one drew closer, however, they would discover that Xie Yuchun's corpse was particularly terrifying.
The terrifying thing was her eyes.
Feng Jing had seen many dead people's eyes, and quite a few of them were unblinking. But she had never seen such terrifying eyes before.
Xie Chun's eyes had an uneven color distribution, with varying shades of light and dark, making them look very dirty. The originally smooth surface was now bumpy, with many small holes on it, as if they had been pricked by dozens of fine needles. Some of the holes were quite deep, with a dark, inky blackness inside, like tiny black holes that seemed bottomless.
Feng Jing only took a glance and felt a wave of nausea wash over her, as if she was about to vomit. She stretched out her hand to gently stroke Xie Yuchun's eyes - she wanted his eyes to close.
But her hand couldn't reach Xie Yuchun's eyes and was grasped by another big hand in mid-air.
A strong command-like voice came from beside his ear: "Don't touch her!"
Xiao Qiang's hand was warm, strong and powerful, easily wrapping around Feng Jing's small hand.
Feng Jing looked at Xiao Qiang in confusion: "Why?"
"There's no why, it's an order!" Xiao Qiang said furiously.
Indeed, his mood was not ordinary. Five consecutive murder cases, each more bizarre than the last, how could he possibly be in a good mood? Moreover, when he saw Xie Yuchun's body, years of criminal investigation experience and intuition made him aware of the danger.
Her clothes were neat and tidy, without any signs of tearing. Apart from the wounds on her palms and the black holes in her eyes, Xiao Qiang couldn't see any other fatal external injuries. Moreover, there were no visible signs of poisoning from her appearance.
The cause of Xie's death is a mystery.
Feng Jing was scolded, but her mood was much better than Xiao Qiang's. Her hand was wrapped in Xiao Qiang's palm, as if slightly electrified, feeling strangely comfortable.
Xiao Qiang seemed to be unaware of it, gently removing Feng Jing's hand and slowly withdrawing.
"Wait a moment, Dong Xiaowen, the forensic doctor from the provincial bureau, will come and handle it personally."
Feng Jing was so excited she almost jumped up: "Xiao Wenzi is coming? I haven't seen her in ages!"
Dong Xiaowen was a classmate of Feng Jing during high school. It's strange to say, but Feng Jing is elegant and outgoing, while Dong Xiaowen is petite and introverted. The two became close friends and shared a common goal: to join the police force and fight against crime. Feng Jing attended the police academy, while Dong Xiaowen studied at medical school. They took different paths but ultimately ended up in similar fields - one became a female detective, and the other became a female forensic doctor.
In just a few years, Dong Xiaowen made a name for herself in the police force, with her professional level astonishing even top-notch veteran forensic doctors. It's said that she was particularly obsessed with forensic medicine, once spending three days and nights holed up in the autopsy room without coming out, and when she saw a corpse, it was as if she had picked up a treasure, extremely excited and fanatical. In the past two years, she has used her knowledge of forensic medicine to help the police crack many cases, being transferred from a grassroots public security bureau all the way to the provincial bureau, and receiving multiple commendations from the provincial bureau.
Feng Jing had visited Dong Xiaowen several times. When discussing other matters, Dong Xiaowen was still as inarticulate and taciturn as she was in high school. But whenever the topic turned to corpses, she became energetic, vividly describing them with great enthusiasm, talking incessantly, so that others couldn't get a word in edgewise.
In addition, the two have another commonality: they are both single and don't even have a boyfriend. Feng Jing's heart belongs to someone, and apart from Xiao Qiang, she doesn't look at anyone else. Dong Xiaowen has taken a liking to several people, but unfortunately, none of them can be persuaded - she spends more time with corpses than with boyfriends, and her attitude towards corpses is even more enthusiastic than her attitude towards boyfriends.
Just a few minutes later, Dong Xiaowen appeared in front of Feng Jing.
Feng Jing didn't say another word and rushed over to give a big hug.
Dong Xiaowen suddenly pushed Feng Jing away, rushed to Xie Yuchun's body, her eyes shining brightly, and a blush appeared on her face.
Xiao Qiang's mouth curled up with a hint of a smile. He had heard about Dong Xiaowen's personality long ago.
"How strange!" Dong Xiaowen glanced roughly at the corpse, her eyes filled with puzzlement.
