Chapter 4 Suspect

  Chapter 4 Suspect

When Wu Hui said that Xu Weidong had something to hide, Zhang Qiang was about to go out and tell Guo Yining, but was stopped by Wu Hui, "Don't be in a hurry, we'll follow him later and see where he goes."

"We're following him? He might be that psycho killer, it's too dangerous, I'm not going!" Zhang Qiang heard that he had to follow someone who might have a twisted mind, and he would rather die than do so. He didn't even have a girlfriend yet, and his good days were still ahead of him - no way was he going to end up in the hands of such a psycho.

"Don't worry, I'm here, no need to be afraid. Besides, I only said he was hiding something, not that he's the murderer!" Wu Hui walked out of the monitoring room and ran into Guo Yining who had just come out of the interrogation room.

Seeing Wu Hui preparing to leave, Guo Yining felt a bit strange. Since the third person hadn't finished asking questions, why did Wu Hui decide to leave? "Where are you going?"

"I'm going out for a while, send the third interrogation video to my email, I'll take a look when I get back." After finishing speaking, he left the Public Security Bureau without looking back.

"Why didn't you tell Captain Guo? With Captain Guo and us together, it would be much safer." Zhang Qiang walked quickly, following behind Wu Hui, he didn't understand what Wu Hui had seen.

Wu Hui tightened his collar to prevent the cold wind from blowing in, "That kid knows Captain Guo. If he brings Captain Guo along, it's inevitable that he won't be discovered. He's now at a critical moment and will definitely take us to find something useful."

As expected by Wu Hui, after Xu Weidong came out of the Public Security Bureau, he took a taxi. At this time, Zhang Qiang also drove his car over, Wu Hui got in and pointed to the taxi in front, Zhang Qiang followed up.

The taxi stopped in front of a residential area, and Xu Weidong looked around before hurrying into the compound. Wu Hui got out of the car and told Zhang Qiang to take care of it, following closely behind Xu Weidong. Following Xu Weidong up to the 4th floor, they heard him making a phone call on the stairs.

"Hey, I'm at your doorstep, bring me the stuff." Xǔ Wèi Dōng hung up the phone and stood at the door, somewhat startled.

After a while, the door opened and a sleepy-eyed woman appeared, somewhat annoyed. "You're crazy, poor and cheap, it's just a broken necklace, anyone can tell it's fake at first glance, and you still treat it like treasure."

Xu Weidong saw the necklace that the girl had flung over and hastily reached out to grab it, "You don't know what this is, hand it over." Seeing Xu Weidong take the necklace away, the woman slammed the door shut. Xu Weidong put the necklace into his coat pocket and walked out of the corridor with his head down, while Wu Hui watched everything that happened.

Xu Weidong got out of the residential area and hailed another taxi. Zhang Qiang had just parked his car when he saw Wu Hui walking towards him, "Let's go, keep following!"

He had just found a parking spot with great difficulty and was about to get out of the car when he muttered to himself. After leaving the residential area, Xu Weidong took a taxi to the entrance of the Public Security Bureau, where he lingered for a while before finally not going in.

Perhaps afraid of getting into unnecessary trouble, Xu Weidong finally decided to leave. As he turned around, Wu Hui was already standing in front of him.

"Who are you?" Seeing Wu Hui standing in front of him, Xu Weidong was somewhat startled.

"It's not too late to go in now!" Wu Hui did not respond to Xu Weidong's words.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Xue Weidong said, trying to sidestep Wu Hui and leave, but Zhang Qiang appeared in front of him, blocking his way.

Xu Weidong took a look at Zhang Qiang and then looked back at Wu Hui behind him. Although he didn't know their identities, it was better not to cause trouble in front of the Public Security Bureau.

Seeing Xu Weidong's puzzled face, Wu Hui looked at Xu Weidong's chest and said, "Go in!"

"How did you know?" Xǔ Wèi Dōng was still too young, and upon seeing Wu Huī's actions, he knew that Wu Huī had already discovered the thing hidden on his body.

"Never mind how I knew, it seems that you're not a bad person at heart, knowing to come to the police station to report the case. If you had handed it over voluntarily, I think the police wouldn't have given you any trouble." Wu Hui stepped aside and let Xu Weidong pass through.

Although still worried, Xu Weidong still walked into the Public Security Bureau.

Just after inquiring about the third person, Guo Yining was about to send an email to Wu Hui when he saw Wu Hui and three others walking towards him. "What are you all doing together?"

"Nothing, just ran into him, he said he had something to look for you." Wu Hui didn't mention the thing about following Xu Weidong.

Wu Hui didn't say anything, and Guo Yining didn't ask either. He turned to Xu Weidong and asked: "What's the matter?"

"I... " Xu Weidong looked at Guo Yining, "Actually, there's something I haven't told you, it's this thing." He then pulled out a necklace from his coat pocket, which was a heart-shaped diamond necklace.

"What's this?" Guo Yining took over the necklace and saw that two letters "YL" were engraved on the back of the necklace.

"Actually, after the woman in the photo left that day, I saw this necklace on the ground where she was standing. I thought it looked good, so I picked it up and gave it to a friend. You're questioning me today, which means the woman must have reported it to the police. If I didn't return it, it would be considered a crime. Now that I'm returning it voluntarily, does that count as surrendering myself?"

"Fang You, take him to make a record!" Guo Yining shouted at Fang You, taking Xu Weidong to make a detailed record.

Guo Yining handed the necklace to Wu Hui: "This necklace should be genuine, and it's not cheap. Take a look at the letters engraved on the back, which should be the abbreviation of the victim's name Yang Liu."

Wu Hui took the necklace and examined it carefully, "Well, who gave her this necklace? I've been to her place, many of the things she uses are brand-name products. As a university student, it's impossible for her to have so much money. Have you investigated her background?"

"After investigation, it was found that Yang Liu's parents are ordinary working-class people. The necklace she wore is worth more than their annual salary, let alone the branded clothes and bags in her room. I also investigated at Yangliu University, where her classmates said that Yang Liu told them that her parents are professors in America, so all her expenses are covered by her parents' money. As a senior, Yang Liu didn't live on campus but rented an apartment outside instead. Her schoolmates and teachers all say that Yang Liu is a very kind person who never holds grudges against others." Guo Yining reported the findings to Wu Hui, "It seems like there must be someone willing to spend money on Yang Liu, just don't know if it's a man or woman. Judging from the current situation, it should be a man. However, this person is very secretive and has never visited Yang Liu's apartment, probably meeting her outside instead."

Wu Hui took another look at the two letters engraved on the necklace. Could it be that they were indeed an abbreviation of Yang Liu's name? Or did they have some other meaning? "Give me the information about the first few victims, and send me the video of the third person. I'll study them when I get back today."

"Alright, the materials are all ready. Just take them away. Looking at the time interval between the murderer's crimes getting shorter and shorter, I'm worried that the next one will happen soon. We don't have much time." Thinking that the murderer might strike another person, Guo Yining felt extremely angry.

"Well, if I find anything out, I'll let you know right away. I'm going now."

Zhang Qiang took the materials handed over by Guo Yining and followed Wu Hui out of the Public Security Bureau.

Wu Hui returned home, opened his email and checked the video materials sent by Guo Yining. The video showed a businessman named Liu Jianjun, 45 years old, who was a well-known entrepreneur in the city. After his wife's death a few years ago, he had not remarried and had a son in high school.

On November 9, Liu Jianjun returned from Shanghai and was picked up by his driver. He did not return to the company but went straight home, had dinner with his son, and then returned to the company to deal with some documents that were not processed during his business trip. That night, he took a flight to Guangzhou and stayed there until yesterday when he returned from Guangzhou, without any time to commit a crime.

After watching the video, Wu Hui took out the materials prepared by Guo Yining and studied them carefully.

The first victim, a 27-year-old unemployed woman, went missing on October 20, 2014, at around 2:00 AM. She was found dead at around 5:00 AM the same day. Her body was discovered by some hikers in a pit on October 1, 2014. The autopsy revealed that she had suffered severe abuse before her death, with no DNA or lubricant from condoms found in her body. It is believed that an object similar to a wooden stick was used to assault her, and her lower body was cut off, with signs of healing around the wound, indicating that it was inflicted while she was still alive. She had 47 stab wounds, including 32 non-fatal wounds inflicted before her death, and one fatal wound to the chest that caused her heart to rupture and bleed out. After her death, the killer stabbed her an additional 14 times, suggesting a desire for revenge. The time between her disappearance and murder was only three hours.

The second victim, a 25-year-old female bartender, went missing on September 25, 2015, at around 5:00 am after finishing her shift at the bar. Her body was found two days later, on September 27, 2015, at around 11:00 pm, in a garbage disposal site. Like the first victim, she had been subjected to ** before being killed. Unlike the first victim, however, her wounds were not stab wounds but slash wounds, all inflicted while she was still alive, indicating that the killer was starting to enjoy the process of killing. The fatal wound was also a single knife thrust to the chest, resulting in cardiac rupture and bleeding death.

The third victim, a 24-year-old single mother, went missing on Thursday, October 1, 2015. She was found dead on Saturday, October 3, around 4:00 AM, and her body was discovered in a wooded area by the river on October 4. Like the previous victims, she had been subjected to severe abuse before her death. However, unlike the others, this victim was breastfeeding at the time of her murder. The forensic examination did not find any signs of milk accumulation, suggesting that the killer may have squeezed out or sucked out the milk from her breasts. Only the skin on her chest was peeled off, and no evidence could be found. The cause of death was also a single stab wound to the chest, resulting in cardiac rupture and exsanguination.

The fourth victim, Yang Liu, female, 23 years old, university student, went missing on November 9th, 2015, Monday. She was found dead on November 11th, 2015, Wednesday at 6:00 am. Before her death, she suffered severe **treatment, similar to the previous victims. The cause of death was a ruptured cerebral aneurysm, with 73 stab wounds on her body. Perhaps the killer did not expect Yang Liu to die so quickly, which led to extreme anger and resulted in the large number of stab wounds.

The perpetrator was able to stab the victim 73 times, it can be seen that the perpetrator is a very strong person and should be a man.
