Chapter Thirty-Six: Fox Shadow
Qin Zhong had some free time at this moment to admire his antique dagger: "I really don't know how much it's worth, but I just can't bear to part with it."
Just as he was thinking, a person rushed out of the yard, looking around in all directions, and after seeing Qin Zhong, he seemed to have gone mad, waving his hands wildly in the air.
Qin Zhong's antique dagger in his hand stabbed at the approaching person, one knife slashed across the person's neck, turned back and another knife, also slashing a path on the person's shoulder.
"Ow!" The newcomer seemed to be in so much pain that he suddenly crouched down.
The newcomer was Da Shu, and the two tooth marks on his shoulder, along with the already rotten pile of flesh without intuition, were slashed open by Qin Zhong's two knives. At the moment of the last knife, the pile of rotten meat was picked up by Qin Zhong's short dagger.
Qin Zhong's move was called "Tou Du Rou", which was in the Ghost Doctor manual given to him by the Korean army, but it required the practitioner's knife skills to be precise to the extreme and fast, however Qin Zhong achieved it.
After Qin Zhong dealt with them, he saw that Da Shu was fainting from pain and had passed out. He bandaged Da Shu's wound and then put him in a corner to rest first.
Not long after, the backyard of the ancestral hall began to show flames, and the fire gradually rose into the sky. All that could be heard was someone shouting and making a ruckus outside: "Ancestors, it's time for you to move to a new place. From now on, everything will depend on yourselves. We younger generations are beyond hope."
As soon as Qin Zhong heard this, he suddenly remembered that Old Geng had been gone for so long and hadn't returned yet, which was very strange. His head wouldn't have been kicked that far by himself, and besides, it had already been several dozen minutes, but Old Geng still hadn't returned, which made Qin Zhong's suspicions endless.
He immediately got up and went to the place where Lao Geng had jumped to check, but he turned around in a circle and didn't find any sign of Lao Geng. This was bad, if they couldn't burn Lao Geng's body and the Shaman grave with the dragonfly water, it would be impossible to unravel some secrets on Lao Geng's corpse, so cremating Lao Geng's body as soon as possible was the top priority.
Just as Qin Zhong was searching for the old Geng, he suddenly saw a shadow in the backlight of the forest under the moonlight. The shadow had a sharp mouth, two triangular ears and a long tail, and from time to time, it would float away with a faint scent of fox.
"Fox shadow?" Qin Zhong was stunned, and at the same time he was looking at the fox shadow, a huge hand shadow emerged from behind it. The hand shadow had long fingernails that looked like sharp blades, and suddenly those blades were swung wildly, occasionally accompanied by a muffled cry that reached Qin Zhong's ears.
Qin Zhong looked in the direction of the sound and found it was Old Geng. He had his hands stretched out, as if eating something, and the way he ate seemed like he was driven mad by hunger. Before long, an object was flung away by him with great force.
But strangely, this time Old Geng's corpse was jumping backwards, and it jumped towards himself. Qin Zhong widened his eyes and took a closer look at Old Geng's appearance, and found that earlier he had chopped off Old Geng's head, and when he put it back on, Old Geng had put it on backwards, so he could only jump with his back facing outwards, and his hands were stretched out in the opposite direction.
If a normal person were to stretch their arm backwards, their flexibility would be extremely good, but this zombie's arm stretching backwards seems to be quite normal.
Qin Zhong waited for Lao Geng to come to him, and he drew out the antique dagger from earlier. He shouted at Lao Geng, "Lao Geng, your old nest has been burned to ashes! If you don't go back to take a look now, you'll never get to see it again!"
That old Ge seemed to have understood Qin Zhong's words, he glanced into the fire, and on that stiff wooden face, there seemed to be a kind of angry emotion. Qin Zhong took a look and thought it was not good, this zombie jumped too far, if he didn't run first, he was afraid that guy could catch up with him in one or two jumps.
Qin Zhongjian's footsteps were as swift as flying, and in fact, his footwork was still impressive. Due to his excellent memory, history, this major for him is simply child's play, rote memorization can be done with a single glance, so he spent the rest of his time on sports and exercise.
Qin Zhong rushed towards the mansion that was already engulfed in a raging inferno, but he didn't dare open the door because he feared other things from the ancestral hall would rush out.
He stared intently at Old Geng, seeing him getting closer and closer, when he suddenly stopped. One of his eyeballs was stuck to his chin due to its intense movement, while the other eye was fixed on Qin Zhong with a heavy gaze. He saw Qin Zhong's body leaning against the door, which seemed to be burning hot, with a hint of complacency on his face.
Qin Zhong had no other choice at this moment, wanting to make the guy jump into the sea of fire, he could only jump into the courtyard himself as bait, otherwise Lao Geng would never jump in.
He suddenly rushed to Da Shu's side, Da Shu leaned against the wall root, panting urgently, as if he had woken up.
"Uncle Da, lend me your shoulder for a moment." Qin Zhong said, and then he was going to climb over the wall.
But at this moment, Qin Zhong suddenly felt that his ankle was clamped by a pair of pliers and couldn't move.
Nada Shu began to speak: "Young man, you're still young, I won't be around for much longer. Besides, the ancestral hall is on fire and as a guardian of the spirit, it's my duty to go back. Alright, let me take Old Geng in instead."
"You? You can't make it, if you go in, you'll be dead."
"Hey, living one more day or less is all the same, get out of my way." Da Shu gritted his teeth, and to his surprise, the fresh blood on his arm gushed out as he waved it in the air twice.
That old Geng's nose moved up and down twice, and he started going crazy again. His big strides turned into small steps, with an extremely fast frequency, and he suddenly pounced on Da Shu, completely ignoring Qin Zhong's intentions.
It's a zombie after all, with an unparalleled reverence and super strong desire for blood.
Da Shu glanced at Qin Zhong, a smile flashed across his face, and he suddenly sprang into action. With a swift motion, he scaled the wall with both hands and leapt into the courtyard, charging straight into the inferno.
Qin Zhong saw this scene and couldn't help but sigh, it seems that Da Shu understood, he himself was beyond salvation, after all, the poison had gone too deep, so it's better to just drag Old Geng into the fire and burn together.
Qin Zhong flashed outward, thinking of probing the old Geng on the wall, but he never expected that just as he jumped up, Old Geng's corpse flew over his head. This time, Old Geng's bounce regained its initial ferocity and jumped into the courtyard in one leap, then another jump violently leaped into the sea of fire. Da Shu did not enter the sea of fire, but he was fixed to the spot by some kind of dark power without knowing it.
Qin Zhong's eyes could see ghosts and monsters, what he saw were the concubines of those rooms, they were all hiding beside Da Shu due to fear of fire, hoping that Da Shu would save their lives.
But these ghosts did wrong, they not only couldn't save themselves but also harmed Da Shu. However, Da Shu seemed to have felt the entanglement of those guys, he revealed his two tender fangs, at this moment, his fangs had become longer, he tried to use these two fangs to gnaw those concubines, but he failed.
Qin Zhong lay on the wall, looking out, his heart not feeling right, not for anything else, but because of Da Shu, who could have been saved, but chose to give up his life instead.
In a little while, the Korean army ran over from the back of the courtyard: "How about it, Little Bell, where is Da Shu?"
Qin Zhong didn't say a word, he just pointed to the courtyard with his hand, then he jumped down from the wall, patted the dust off his body, and stood with his hands on his waist, shaking his head in sigh.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Da Shu jumped into the sea of flames, we can't save him now. He did it to attract Lao Geng's attention, and now Lao Geng is in a desperate situation. I think he won't be able to survive anyway." Qin Zhong said with a sigh, heading towards the woods they were just at. In fact, what had happened was already over, and he quickly let go of it. Turning back, he thought about the fox in those woods, wondering if it had also become a zombie, which would be terrifying.
Han Jun didn't know what Qin Zhong was going to do. The look of terror on Old Gao's son's face seemed to have just dissipated, and he closely followed Han Jun from behind.
Qin Zhong gripped the antique dagger tightly in his hand and headed out of the village along the small path through the woods.
Just as Old Geng's son was about to speak, a strong and pungent smell wafted out from the grass thicket. In an instant, Old Geng's son's face turned deathly pale, with beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
