Chapter 6: Exorcism
When Qin Zhong turned his head, he saw an old man facing him with a kind and smiling face. The old man stretched out one of his wrinkled hands in front of him, while the other hand was holding a gun, which had already been put behind his back when he saw Qin Zhong.
Qin Zhong suddenly remembered that the old man seemed very familiar, wasn't this his own grandfather? How could he be here? He didn't dare to believe his eyes, so he rubbed them hard and wanted to take another closer look.
But when he looked back, the kind old man had disappeared, and in front of him was that girl. She seemed to be very willing to be with Qin Zhong. She walked around from behind Qin Zhong to the front, her small hands waving back and forth in front of Qin Zhong: "Hey, what's wrong with you?"
Qin Zhong suddenly reacted: "Nothing, just feel that today is a bit strange, like seeing a ghost!"
"What the devil? Well, you can find me then. My family is specialized in dealing with ghosts and monsters." Mona seemed to be extremely delighted.
Qin Zhong glanced at Meng Na and said: "How would I know what's ghostly or not? My grandfather died, so I saw him just now. Do you count that as seeing a ghost?"
Meng Na held her head in one hand, the wet towel on her chest had been dried by her body heat and had fallen off: "If it's a relative, then they should be in heaven, not considered a ghost, but still dead, how to say it's not human, ah, this question is really contradictory, I have to go back and ask my dad."
"Oh, I have a small question for you," Qin Zhong said, pausing for a moment: "So, where do ghosts come from?"
Meng Na raised an eyebrow in surprise, staring at Qin Zhong: "I didn't know that, but if you have time, go ask Yu Mu Shi, or my old man."
"Your dad?" Qin Zhong only knew that Zhong Kui could catch ghosts, but he didn't know that foreign priests also had this skill. So he felt quite fresh about Meng Na's words. However, he did want to get to know someone like that. After all, ghosts were something Qin Zhong really hadn't seen before. In his eyes, ghosts and monsters were just nonexistent things, vague and intangible, not scary at all, but rather curious.
Mona crossed her arms in front of her chest, trying to cover herself up. She turned around and said confidently: "My dad is a pastor at the church, the biggest Catholic pastor in our city of Antong, with at least 8,000 followers under him."
Qin Zhong burst out laughing, it seems that this girl also loves to brag. However, when it comes to the pastor, that old ghost seemed to have mentioned this person at the beginning. Could it be that this woman is the very same stubborn girl he talked about? She doesn't seem to be that stubborn, just a bit more cunning.
He took a deep breath and vented about what had just happened: "If possible, please have Miss Mengna take me to see your father."
"That's easy, I'll just say you're my friend, and my father will be happy to answer for you." Mona said, walking ahead with her hands behind her back. Qin Zhong touched the embroidered box his grandfather had given him and followed Mona towards the Catholic church.
As they reached the entrance of the Catholic church, a few loyal followers came out from inside and greeted Mona politely. They raised their thumbs high: "This is Mona, Pastor Yu's daughter. Look at the kind of partner she's found for herself."
Qin Zhong suddenly felt a chill in his heart, wondering when he had become the object of this girl's affections. Looking at her attire, which was not even decent, how could she say that he was her object? It was really absurd.
Qin Zhong followed Meng Na closely, and suddenly Meng Na turned her head to reveal a row of white teeth: "Hey, wait here for a while, I'll go in and change my clothes, don't run around."
Mona finished speaking and went to a room on the side of the church hall, which seemed to be her room. Qin Zhong curiously looked inside the church, looking at the image of Jesus nailed to the cross in the middle of the hall, with a podium below, and behind the podium stood a pastor wearing a white robe.
The whole hall was left with only Qin Zhong and Pastor Yu, when the pastor walked towards the door with the Bible in hand, he saw Qin Zhong standing still and asked warmly: "Child, do you believe in God? As long as you throw yourself into His arms, He will give you boundless happiness."
"Oh, that's fine, but I'm waiting for a friend here!" Qin Zhong replied.
The pastor still smiled warmly and said: "There is no one here anymore, who are you waiting for?"
"Oh, I'm waiting for Meng Na." Qin Zhong said without hiding anything.
The pastor's face showed some surprise, but he quickly regained his composure: "Mona? She seems to have no friends here since she came from her hometown, and you are?"
"I am from the archives above, she is the one who brought me here to find her father."
The pastor was surprised again, and muttered softly: "So fast, this girl, why didn't she say a word before bringing her boyfriend back home, eager to get married?"
Although the pastor's voice was low, Qin Zhong's ears were very useful, so he heard every word of the pastor's muttering clearly, and for a moment, it made Qin Zhong's face slightly red.
Just at this critical moment, Yu Mengna, dressed in a short skirt and a fitted T-shirt, walked over: "Hey, Qin Zhong, this is my father. If you have anything to ask, just ask him."
Qin Zhong didn't feel strange, he knew that the eighty percent was Mona's pastor father, but at first it wasn't good to directly guess, this time Mona introduced him and he politely replied: "It's Uncle Yu, Pastor Uncle is well, I'm Qin Zhong, I came here with something to ask you."
"Well, you're quite polite, aren't you?" Pastor Yu thought to take a look at the relationship between Qin Zhong and Meng Na, so he gave Meng Na a glance: "Is he your friend?"
"Yes, just met him, I'll tell you about what happened earlier later, he said he just saw his grandfather."
Qin Zhong took over: "Just now, I really saw my grandfather, but my grandfather has been dead for a long time. I have never seen my grandfather since I was born, and only recognized him from the photo today, but just saw him."
"Really?"
Meng Na wrapped one arm around Pastor Yu's: "Right, Dad, does seeing someone like him count as seeing a ghost?"
"Well, it counts as seeing a ghost if you see someone who has already died. But ghosts are divided into evil and good ones. If it's a family member of his, then it must be that the family member is looking for him for something."
Qin Zhong was confused by the pastor's words, wondering if the grandfather he saw was really a ghost? But he had indeed seen his grandfather's appearance in that dimly lit hall, did Grandpa have something to do with it?
"Pastor Yu, I don't know if you have time, but can you come with me to take a look? I'm really confused about what's going on." Qin Zhong implored Pastor Yu.
The pastor indeed wasn't covering it up, his mouth slightly curled: "Heh heh, looks like my guess was right, that archive room really is a dirty place, but the only thing that can give people a sense of righteousness and integrity is the feeling of being in a place with a strong atmosphere, apart from that, it's all gloomy and depressing."
"What's yin energy?"
"You don't need to worry about this anymore, I'll go back and bring some things, come with me to drive out the ghost!"
Qin Zhong didn't understand the terms the pastor mentioned, such as "yin energy" and so on. He knew he shouldn't get involved in these seemingly unscientific things, but what he had just seen was really inexplicable. It couldn't be an illusion either; if it were, why hadn't he ever had one before? Why did it have to appear at this particular moment? This didn't make any sense either.
After a while, Pastor Yu changed into another set of clothes, with only one difference - there was an additional backpack on his back, and inside the backpack were some extra things that Qin Zhong didn't know about. When they arrived at the entrance of the archives building, it was pitch black inside, except for the light in the mailroom which swayed back and forth due to the wind. Inside the mailroom, there was only one person lying on a bed, whose shadow was projected onto the outside through the window curtains.
That figure looks quite familiar, but in this environment, such a figure is still rare, after all, there have been ghosts here before.
