Chapter 20: The Old Man of Yin and Yang

Chapter Twenty: The Old Man of Yin and Yang

Qin Zhong asked Mark to bring the lighter, his eyes fixed on the damp chair: "Mark, this time we have to trouble you again, go to the power room and get some diesel." Next, he drew out a cleaver, both blades flying, chopping towards the Japanese military doctor.

The devil doctor saw Qin Zhong's double knives flying over and his body was suddenly pulled to one side, barely escaping this shot.

Mark panted and carried a small bucket of diesel oil back, Qin Zhong quickly poured the diesel oil onto the table and chair, and immediately lit it with a fire. The entire office was said to be humid and difficult, but under the action of diesel oil, the table and chairs were quickly ignited and disappeared. As the table and chairs disappeared, the ghostly military doctor also gradually disappeared in pain.

Qin Zhong let out a sigh of relief: "What a troublemaker, this guy actually still has energy left, fortunately nothing happened." He turned his head to stare at the large needle on Da Ya's shoulder, and found that in the past little while, Da Ya's shoulder seemed to have started leaking thick water.

"Hurry up, I just heard a noise in the corridor next door. Let's go take a look, maybe there are other people here too." Qin Zhong said, but Mark stopped him.

"Director Qin, are you still dissatisfied with what happened earlier? You think that just because of that voice, nothing will happen?"

Qin Zhong nodded and said, "It should be nothing, ghosts seem to be unable to make this sound."

  "Has someone come in?"

"Hmm, if it's really a person, then it's even more terrifying. I always feel that something is off here, as if someone is playing tricks on us." Qin Zhong said, turning around the corner and looking down the damp corridor, under the yellowish light at the far end, there was a person crawling on the ground, his hands desperately pushing forward.

At such a distance, only such a vague scene can be seen. Qin Zhong quickened his pace and ran towards the people crawling on the ground: "Everyone come over."

The three people who followed Qin Zhong to run over saw that the one lying on the ground was actually an old man with a broken body, his face was dark and surrounded by a dead air.

"Old man, what's this?" Qin Zhong asked in surprise, because he was sure that this decision was personal, and his back had a long shadow behind him. If it were a ghost, there would be no shadow.

The old man lying on the ground, his face covered in mud, his body emitting a damp smell, and the stench of sweat, looking at the cross-section of his thigh where it was severed, the exposed bone had been worn into sharp angles from being dragged like this, and the flesh above seemed to have rotted and turned white due to moisture.

Qin Zhong crouched down, his eyes fixed intently on the old man in front of him. He asked softly, "Sir, what's wrong?" His voice was warm and polite, with a hint of courtesy.

The old man exerted himself to lift his head, nodded a few times, and seemed to have caught his breath. "Young fellow, you must help me," he said. "I've been holding on just for this moment, waiting for someone who can really help me. You're the one I've been looking for. Don't interrupt me. This place used to be where the devils conducted experiments. I was their test subject. The reason I'm still alive is that I'm neither human nor ghost. Now that I've seen you, I can finally rest easy."

The old man only said these words, but was interrupted by a mouthful of smoke from Mark. Qin Zhong wanted to ask him two questions about what he knew, but it was strange that as soon as he finished speaking, his face turned stiff and he couldn't say anything else before he died.

Just as Qin Zhong was about to reach out to check the old man's breath, he found that the old man's head tilted to one side and fell to the ground with a thud. His eyes stared straight at the ground, and then closed peacefully.

The old man's body turned into a cloud of black gas, leaving behind a long trail on the corridor he had just crawled through. His clothes suddenly went limp and fell to the ground.

"My goodness, how did it just disappear?" Mona exclaimed in surprise, followed by a rare gentle tone: "Dear old ghost, may you go to heaven, God bless you, amen!"

"Amen!" Mark was actually a devout Catholic too, so that's the only thing he had in common with Mona.

Qin Zhong lowered his head and saw that the tattered clothes had something attached to the hem, which should have fallen to the ground completely. The old man's bones had all dissolved, so what was at the bottom of the clothes? Was it some kind of object left behind by the old man that couldn't be dissolved?

He curiously used a kitchen knife to pick at the tattered clothes, and surprisingly, two yellowed photos floated down from within. The photos were black and white, but the people in them made Qin Zhong's eyes widen in shock.

One of the photos was a group photo of about a few dozen people, with the Japanese military doctor sitting in the middle, and the rest were those Japanese soldiers from earlier. Because there were many faces, Qin Zhong remembered clearly, although he didn't recognize them, but he knew that these people could be remembered clearly.

In another photo, also a group of dozens of people, the dozens of people in this photo are a group of national army soldiers with heroic spirit, and among these soldiers, one of them was circled in red by someone.

Qin Zhong looked down at the two photos, then put them in his pocket and took another look at the old man. Because of the marks left on the ground by the old man's crawling, he felt that these marks should lead directly to the entrance of the cave, or else all the places the old man had been were dead ends.

"No, the old man must have walked to the entrance of the cave. Looking at this photo, there should be other people with him too. In order for him to survive until now, he must have had good fortune and a good living environment." Qin Zhong's analysis was not unreasonable.

Those guys nodded one by one, especially the big-toothed guy who couldn't wait to say: "Good, good, as long as I can get out, I'll leave, I don't want to die in this damned place."

"Alright, follow closely and keep an eye out. The trail this old man has left should be the path, don't take a wrong turn." Qin Zhong said.

Everyone followed the trail dragged out by the old man to the end of this corridor.

As Qin Zhong and others passed through a large hall, the scene here made Qin Zhong's hair stand on end, with an unknown feeling of fear or sympathy, or anger and sadness: "This is simply one of the dozens of pieces of evidence that Japanese people randomly killed Chinese."

Because Qin Zhong saw in this hall a glass cabinet, each cabinet had various bacterial names inside, one was Japanese and the next line was English.

And on the top of each glass tube was filled with thick black-green mold, Qin Zhong's first reaction was to protect this place, waiting for the day when all the evidence here would be made public, so that those who did not understand history would forever have an enemy view.

However, Qin Zhong suddenly discovered a problem - each glass cover had been deliberately cleaned, because after decades, it should have become unclear at this time, and it couldn't be like its current state. He didn't think much and picked up one of the glass covers, letting Mark hold it, as several people hastily continued to follow the trail.

It was at this time that the sound of iron chains pulling on the iron gate, the clattering noise was indeed uncomfortable.

Qin Zhong heard the voice as if it was coming from the end of the corridor, and saw the faint light flashing in the hallway: "Not good, we used a bit too much diesel just now, the flashlight is not bright enough for us to get out of here, come on and run with me."

A few people were walking quickly, then running, two of them at an unusual speed, rushing out hastily. The entire corridor was left with only the sound of their footsteps and the iron chain door, the two sounds intertwined, making the entire corridor no longer peaceful. Just as Qin Zhong turned around several corners, he heard the sound of the iron gate getting closer and closer. When they turned around another corner, the sound of the iron gate suddenly stopped, and from what they could see at the end, a few rays of light shone over.

"The entrance of the cave!" Qin Zhong and others were excited, they seemed to have seen hope, and then several people quickly approached the entrance of the cave.
