Preface

Female body guide? The mountain is not very high, but it's quite steep.?

One woman and three men, a total of four young people, were climbing up with all their might on the mountain slope.

It was early autumn in the afternoon, and the scenery was exceptionally beautiful. The lush mountains were filled with a hint of bright yellow and intoxicating deep red. The sunlight also poured down brilliantly. Unfortunately for the four young people, the steep mountain road without any shade wasn't that great.

"Don't have to climb up anymore?" The young man walking at the back stopped in his tracks, standing on a relatively flat area, with one hand on his waist and the other stroking his chest to catch his breath.

Walking in front of him was the only girl in the group, who turned her head back after hearing the question, and a beautiful smile bloomed on her lovely face, which was actually more radiant than the sunlight against the mountain scenery.

"Of course we have to keep climbing, don't you want to see the most precious herbs? You know that the best wild herbs all grow in the most precipitous and dangerous places!"

"Yes, we're studying traditional Chinese medicine. If we haven't even seen these wild herbs before, it's really embarrassing!" The tall boy walking in the front stopped too, but he didn't look tired at all, just wiping the sweat from his forehead.

As he stopped, the four-man team also came to a halt.

"Alright, alright, let's go!" The last skinny boy in the group waved his hand, "Don't mention this small two-story hill, even if it were a mountain of knives and a sea of fire ahead, I'd still charge forward with our school's number one beauty by my side!"

"It sounds like we're going to attack the Demon Mountain or something." The girl smiled generously, her exquisite and beautiful face with a pair of clever big eyes sparkling with a hint of lake blue, "We're just going to pick some precious herbs for our herbal medicine internship assignment."

"Alright, Goddess Nong!" The boy rolled up his sleeves, with a look of 'I'll die for you', "You're not afraid that there are man-eating monsters on this mountain that don't even spit out bones, so I'm naturally not afraid of getting tired. Let's go!"

"We're medical students, we shouldn't believe in supernatural things." The bespectacled boy who had been silent all along chimed in, "I don't think there's anything in this world that can't be explained by science."

"Don't be too stubborn!" The thin boy argued, climbing a few more steps and catching up with the three people in front. He wanted to say something else, but the bespectacled boy waved his hand to stop him.

"We won't argue, the facts will prove my point." He pointed to a dense forest on the left, "I think the slope over there is still relatively gentle, I'll go down first."

"What are you going there for?" The girl asked in surprise.

"This... sorry, you know, people have three urgencies, we've been climbing since morning and haven't rested yet!" He chuckled twice, covering up his embarrassment, then waved his hand and slowly walked into the depths of the dense forest. The underbrush below shook violently for a moment before returning to calmness, and the young man's figure was completely engulfed by the green waves, as if swallowed up.

The girl stood at a high place, watching her classmates' figures disappear, and suddenly had a bad premonition, and inexplicably shivered.

"What's wrong?" the tall boy asked solicitously, "Are you tired? It's understandable, we've been climbing mountains for half a day without resting. Come on, sit down!" He said, helping the girl sit down on a rock.

After climbing the mountain for half a day, everyone is actually tired. It's okay if we don't stop, but once we stop, it feels like we can't move anymore. I just hope that the bespectacled boy can go a bit further, so they can rest for a while longer.

However, the bespectacled boy did not return for a long time. They waited for more than half an hour, but the dense forest below was still quiet and motionless, making the other three people feel uneasy and worried.

"I'll go take a look." The tall boy stood up, "This guy is always careless, maybe he's fallen into some kind of trap!"

From their position, all they could see were dense woods stretching out in every direction, with trees of varying heights scattered about. If someone was hiding among them, it would be impossible to spot them, let alone notice if they fell into a hole.

But if something unexpected happened to him, why didn't he call for help? Was he knocked unconscious?

A gust of mountain wind blew, and suddenly there was a slightly chilly feeling. The wind made people's hair stand on end, causing the girl's heart to grow more suspicious and uneasy. She wanted to say something, but saw that the tall boy had already slowly walked down the slope and disappeared into the woods.

  Then, nothing happened.

It's been almost an hour again, and the two people standing on the hillside are at a loss for what to do.

"What the villagers said... isn't true, is it?" The thin boy hesitated and muttered a sentence, not knowing whether he was talking to himself or asking the girl.

"It's nothing but superstition," the girl said, her tone firm, but her eyes not meeting the boy's, instead gazing down at the dense forest below.

The dense forest replied with silence.

"Otherwise, I'll go down and take a look!" The girl said with a pale face: "Waiting like this is not a solution, and we can't just abandon them."

"Isn't it better for us to go down the mountain and ask the villagers for help?" The boy was a bit timid, holding onto the girl, and proposed a compromise.

"It won't do, if we go back to call for help and then return to the mountain, it will be dark by then. Not only is it not good for rescue, but also if they are injured, they will lose the golden time for first aid." The girl twisted her curved eyebrows, suppressing the bad premonition in her heart: "Besides, you know how afraid the villagers are, they absolutely won't come to a place above halfway up the mountain."

"That——" The boy looked a bit embarrassed, and a thread of fear welled up in his eyes.

Among the four, he was the weakest physically and had the smallest courage. He didn't even dare to look at the beautiful woman in front of him. He also believed in that terrifying legend the most and always disagreed with going up the mountain. However, the four of them were a group, and those three people didn't believe in evil spirits, insisting on climbing to the top of the mountain to take a look.

For more than ten years, no one has climbed to the middle of these two mountains. There must be many natural herbs that are much more precious than those cultivated by humans!

The herbs are nowhere to be seen now, and those two classmates have mysteriously disappeared. He is very scared, but as a man, he can't let a girl go to a dangerous place to check the situation!

"I'm going! You stay here!" He gritted his teeth, "If I don't come back in half an hour, you go down the mountain to report to the police."

After finishing speaking, he didn't wait for the girl's response, nor did he wait until that unknown fear consumed his last bit of courage. He cautiously walked downstairs.

He left and the girl never waited for him to come back again.

As the sky grew darker, she hesitated for a moment, but still didn't abandon her companions and head down the mountain. Instead, she also walked towards that dense forest which seemed to be getting deeper and more mysterious...

It wasn't until a week later that the Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Yuan Shui City found out that four of their classmates who went to the wilderness for herbal medicine investigation and practice had gone missing.

Born without seeing people, died without seeing corpses!
