Chapter 18: Corpse Monkey

  Chapter Eighteen: Corpse Monkey

What's going on? Is this the latest chapter of "The Dark Throne"? I was in mid-air, couldn't help but let out a cry of surprise, and then felt something solid beneath me, before heavily falling onto a pile of skeletons.

These corpses are no longer recognizable as to what year or month they were from. They had already rotted to the point where they couldn't rot any further, and at this moment I fell onto a pile of them, only feeling that the bodies beneath me were soft and mushy to the touch. There was also foul-smelling pus flowing out from within the corpses, which was extremely nauseating.

And this place stinks terribly, plus the corpses everywhere stimulating my nerves, I couldn't bear it anymore, 'Hua' sound, and vomited immediately.

I spat out a mouthful of golden stars. My stomach was churning with acid, and just then, I heard the sound of "bang bang bang" coming from above. I looked up to see that Old Sun had somehow managed to get himself into a fight with a dark shadow. The shadow was incredibly agile, darting back and forth with ease. Although Old Sun's close-range combat skills were formidable, he was no match for the shadow. All of a sudden, he let out a loud cry and stumbled backward, tripping over his own feet before crashing to the ground.

With a dull thud, Sun Lao Gui fell flat on his back. He heavily smashed onto the pile of corpses, splashing pus and foul-smelling rotten flesh and pus all over my body and face.

I gritted my teeth against the nausea, wanting to climb up, but this pile of corpses was soft and mushy, and as soon as I applied some force with my feet, I sank into it. After several attempts, I still couldn't climb out.

At this time, I heard Sun Lao Gui let out a painful cry, and then slowly sat up. I raised my head to look at him, and saw that his withered right cheek had been clawed open, revealing half of the inside of his mouth was bright red, and the other half was dark brown, very terrifying.

"Damn it, I was actually ambushed by a monkey!" Sun Lao Gui cursed loudly. Immediately after that, the skin on his right cheek began to squirm rapidly, and the torn-off skin grew back at a visible speed.

My god, at that moment, I was so shocked that my scalp felt numb and my eyes were wide with amazement.

I've been with Old Sun for a long time, and I'm already immune to his terrifying appearance. But at this moment, seeing that the right side of his face, which had been torn off, had miraculously grown back, I couldn't help but feel a chill run down my spine. It suddenly dawned on me that the Old Sun in front of me was no longer human, but a half-human, half-corpse existence.

I couldn't help but swallow my saliva, and at this time, Sun Lao Gui's face had almost recovered. He looked around and said: "How the hell is there a place of accumulated corpses here? In those years, I and your great-grandfather almost explored the entire mountain, but we didn't find this place! It's really strange!"

Sun the old devil spat out a mouthful of saliva after finishing speaking, then wiped his hands covered with corpse water on his body and said to me: "Grandson, I'm afraid we're in for a bad day today. These monkeys are raised on dead human flesh and have extremely strong aggression. I reckon that when we're too weak from hunger, they'll attack us. By then, even if this place of accumulated corpses doesn't have any other strange things, we'll still die at the hands of these monkeys!"

  "What shall we do then?"

"What to do?" Sun Lao Gui suddenly sneered, then pulled a rotten arm from a corpse and handed it to me, saying: "If you don't want to starve to death, eat this!"

My eyes widened instantly, is this old devil crazy or what, actually asking me to eat a rotten corpse?

This arm is too terrifying, after being pulled down by Old Sun, it's still dripping with corpse water 'drip drip', let alone eating it, just looking at it makes me want to vomit.

Sun Lao Gui let out a sly laugh and said, "Look at how scared you are!" He then tossed away his rotting arm and turned around, muttering to himself, "It's strange, according to reason, this place where corpses accumulate should have given rise to some kind of terrifying creature by now. Why hasn't anything appeared yet? Could it be that the black shadow I saw earlier, the one with its back against the wall...?"

I swallowed my saliva and spat it out, here, there are actually other terrifying existences?

These monkeys alone are enough for us to bear, if there's anything else coming out, wouldn't we also end up like these corpses, rotting here?

Just as I was indulging in wild fancies, Old Sun suddenly pulled out a small flag and gave it a slight wave, whereupon the two fierce demons flew out.

The air was thick with eerie energy, but the two ferocious ghosts didn't have their usual gleeful expressions. Instead, they were shivering all over, as if there was something here that made them extremely apprehensive.

What is it that even ghosts fear?

At this time, a 'squeak' sound came out, and those monkeys that were originally surrounding us slowly approached us.

The number of monkeys was not small, at least a dozen or more, and their fur was disheveled, with clumps stuck to their bodies, and their entire body was covered in a foul-smelling liquid. Moreover, as I got closer, I discovered that these monkeys were rotting, with some parts even having maggots crawling around, and their blood-red eyes made them all the more terrifying!

I never thought that a group of monkeys would give me such a strong sense of horror, and Sun the old ghost was also very wary, not daring to be arrogant. Then I saw him wave a small flag, and the two fierce ghosts let out a loud shout, and immediately pounced on the monkey closest to us.

Those two ferocious ghosts were extremely fierce, and with the heavy yin energy here being very beneficial to them, they quickly pounced on the group of monkeys, their eyes wide open as if about to pop out, and their mouths stretched to their ears.

Then came a deafening roar, like thunder, from their mouths!

"Ah!" The sharp whistle was like a muffled thunder, booming in my mind, I only felt suffocated in my chest, breathing difficulties, and my heart almost burst from this sharp whistle. Sun Lao Gui saw me falling back on the pile of corpses, hurriedly crawled to my side, his hands moved quickly, and he tapped twice on my chest.

With a "puff" sound, as the fresh blood was sprayed out by me, I felt my breathing became smoother, and I sat up with a flip of my body. Then I heard Sun Lao Gui say: "Sorry, Heavy Grandson, forgot that you can't take this ghostly cry!"

I let out a sigh of relief, just about to speak, when I heard a strange cry of 'squeak squeak' coming from behind me. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, and a corpse monkey pounced onto my back, rushing straight for the nape of my neck to bite me.

  Damn it!

I couldn't help but shout loudly, and immediately rolled to the side, barely avoiding the monkey. After I dodged, the monkey actually crashed straight into Sun Lao Gui's body. Sun Lao Gui didn't hold back either, grabbing the monkey's front paws with one hand, raising his right fist with the other, and heavily punching the monkey's belly.

The corpse monkey's body was rotting, with a foul smell all over it. At this moment, it was punched by Old Sun, and suddenly, a puddle of yellowish pus splashed out, covering his entire body and face. However, he seemed to be completely unbothered, raised his fist again, and punched once more. The monkey's head was smashed into pieces by Old Sun, but its body continued to convulse non-stop.

Sun Lao Gui let out a sigh of relief, but at this moment, he saw the corpse monkey's body violently trembling, and then, a small thumb-sized corpse turtle actually crawled out from inside the corpse monkey's body.

  My goodness!

Ever since I saw the tide of dead turtles at Mantou Mountain, I have developed an intense fear of dead turtles and beetles. Now that I see this dead turtle, my scalp is immediately numb.

As the turtle crawled out, I heard a rustling sound coming from all directions. When I turned my head to look, I saw that large numbers of turtles had actually crawled out from within the piles of bones.

This time, it's not just me, even Sun Lao Gui was shocked and lost his color, and he didn't even care about the monkey that had crashed into him. He directly waved a small flag, wanting to control the fierce ghost to leave this place.

But wanting to leave is not that easy, just listen to the strange cry of 'squeak' and a few monkeys jumped onto Sun Lao Gui's body, biting his arm fiercely.

"Ah!" Old Sun shouted, the small flag suddenly fell to the ground. I was about to go and help, but a black shadow flashed before my eyes, followed by a corpse monkey that violently crashed into my chest.

The monkey was extremely ferocious, opening its huge mouth and biting towards my face. I was so frightened that my soul almost escaped, and I quickly raised my right hand to hold the monkey's neck, while my left hand pulled out a pistol and stabbed the monkey's head with a small sword.
