Chapter 18: Confrontation (Three)

  Chapter Eighteen: Confrontation (Three)

In the pitch-black tomb passage, several people's chaotic footsteps echoed, probably for the first time in this dusty and abandoned snake mound, which had been left to the long passage of time, truly welcoming human beings.

To put it bluntly, history is just a river.

This river has been flowing since before the earth and even the universe existed, such a long and turbulent flow of water. All the joys and sorrows that now seem so heart-wrenching have slowly settled in this river. But these are ultimately just stories, some of which have even disappeared into the water, without even becoming small stones on the riverbed.

But this river is destined to flow upstream, whether it's written records, oral traditions, or even the items displayed in street antique shops, they are just stories after all.

But there will still be people who go in search of it, trekking through the stories that have survived for thousands of years, going against the current of history, until they stand at a certain point in time and open up the story they want to read, only then is it complete.

This was something Xia Yanfei had heard when she went to the university to find Xia Zezhao and tagged along to his professional class, at that time she was leaning on her elbow watching the professor who was speaking passionately on the podium, obviously moved by emotion, and it just so happened to be remembered in her heart.

But after all, she is still different from those who do academic work. History, in her eyes, is just a story fabricated by later generations. She has read too many epitaphs and seen too many curses, but those stories that were once sad or warm or sweet have long turned to dust with the tomb owners in the coffin.

Just like the few of them fleeing now, this snake mound might just be a story.

The scorching heat brought a wave of weakness spreading from her bones, Xiaoyan clenched her teeth and continued to run ahead, Ao Yuan looked at her pale face and finally couldn't help but speak up: "You're really going to..."

The words were cut off by Xiaoyan's gritted teeth: "Don't talk to me, I feel like vomiting as soon as you open your mouth."

Ao Yuan slightly tilted his head, and the flashlight in Xiaoyan's hand shook again as she ran, illuminating this girl who had awakened him from his long slumber. Due to her high fever, the girl's normally smooth and pale complexion was now deathly pale, but those eyes were burning so brightly, shining with a light that made it impossible for him to look away.

Xia Yanfei, this person brought him too many surprises and also generated endless interest.

She is like the brightest light in the darkness, dazzling and captivating, drawing you to gaze at her even if it means getting burned.

This seemingly weak girl, single-handedly defeated the inhuman snake-like people, single-handedly and calmly ended Fang Chen's fighting power with one knife in the tomb, single-handedly took care of the remaining three people when Xia Zezhao carried Lan Ruoxue on his back, and was only scratched on the waist in the attack of the three men, almost unscathed.

It was just such a girl, when he conjured up a huge green dragon illusion according to the pre-arranged plan, she took a few steps forward and jumped up with force from her legs, after jumping over several steps of distance, her legs clamped on the neck of a man who had just come back to his senses, in a flash, she twisted her incredibly slender waist to produce power and broke the opponent's neck with her own waist strength!

As she landed, she used her left hand to support herself in a half-crouching position, alleviating the impact of the height and force interacting with the ground. Then, her right hand swiftly pulled out a spring knife from her boot, and after flicking open the blade, she suddenly stood up, using that momentum and the opponent's momentary stunned state to send the blade into the depression between their collarbones.

Against his expectations, Xia Yu Fei did not take advantage of this opportunity to knock down the man who was half-supporting Fang Chen. Instead, she quickly picked up a weapon called a gun that was very different from what he had imagined, and rushed out of the tomb chamber at the fastest speed, chasing after Xia Ze Shao and Fang Ying.

Qiong Kou Mo Zhui and considering her own physical condition, Xia Yu Fei did not entangle with the third person because she had long seen that the remaining person was actually the leader of three bodyguards who surrendered to Fang Chen Ye. If it were up to her ability to fight, she could have won, but due to the high fever caused by the infection of her wound, her physical strength and accuracy had decreased a lot. She was able to take down those two people relying on the unexpected move, relying on her own instantaneous explosive force to achieve a one-hit kill.

The echoes from the tomb passage made it impossible for Xiaoyan to tell if there were pursuers behind her, and the entire snake mound seemed like an open-mouthed venomous snake waiting for these few panicked escapees to enter its mouth.

After turning a corner, Xiaoyan suddenly stopped and stood against the wall. She then raised her index finger to her lips, signaling the other two not to make a sound.

Because they stopped, the echoes decreased a lot, and the footsteps of the pursuers became clear in the quiet tomb passage. Xia Yu Fei closed her eyes to distinguish carefully, and when she opened her eyes again, she spoke impatiently in a low voice: "Tsk, Fang Chen Ye can still keep up?"

Apart from Fang Chenye, the other two men were completely eliminated by her, but Fang Chenye, who was so severely injured, could still catch up with such a fast speed, which made her feel very strange.

Fortunately, Ao Yuan still chose to talk to her in her mind when Fang Ying and Xia Zezhao were present. After asking Ao Yuan, Xia Yunfei didn't get any useful answers and no longer had time to consider this matter.

She heard the pursuer's footsteps getting closer and closer, Xiaoyan took a deep breath and quickly pulled the gun she had snatched from the opponent, leaning against the wall to minimize her presence.

There was no time to consider how much damage the gunshot would cause to her hearing in the tomb, she felt fortunate that the gun still had a silencer on it.

When the footsteps were getting closer and couldn't get any closer, Xia Yu Fei finally dodged out and didn't waste time aiming before pulling the trigger!

Gunfire echoed through the tomb passage, Xiaoyan flew back to hide in the corner of the alley, shaking her head at Fang's worried gaze to indicate that she was fine.

The somewhat loud voice had barely faded away when the tomb passage fell silent, so silent that Xiaoyan could hear her own ragged breathing caused by her high fever and intense exercise. She slowly began to regulate her breathing in preparation for what was to come next.

"This Xia Gui's move has completely worn out my patience."

When Fang Chenye's calm voice echoed in the tomb passage, Xia Yannuo let out a soft hum and raised her gun for convenience. She stuck to the wall with a smile and a light gasp, saying: "I've always admired Mr. Fang's patience, but it was you who made the first move. I'm just doing this for self-protection."

"Then wait to die here! Xia Yu Fei, you think you know this place well?! I'll use the countless vengeful spirits and ghosts of this place to make you fall into the 18th level of hell, never to be reborn!"
