Chapter 69: Returning Home

  Chapter 69: Returning Home

A gentle breeze blows, and the sun shines brightly!

A youth dressed in white sat cross-legged near a lake outside Wu Hua Town, his face pale, sometimes with a twisted expression and sometimes with a struggling look.

This young man was none other than Ye Fei, who had encountered the legendary evil technique of soul-snatching!

A gray light ball the size of a fist burst out from Ye Fei's body, dashing rapidly towards a certain location. In an instant, it pounced on a pale yellow light ball that was roughly the same size as itself.

His heart sank, and although he didn't know much about the legend of Duoshe, seeing that gray light ball frantically writhing and devouring the pale yellow light ball within his body, Ye Fei also knew it wasn't a good thing.

With a calm and focused mind, Ye Fei controlled the yellow light sphere to resist. Although the two light spheres were roughly the same size, he could clearly sense that the gray light sphere was not as solid as his own, nor did it contain as much energy.

Two clusters of light flickered, with the gray cluster initially gaining the upper hand. However, after a brief moment, Ye Fei seemed to calm down and was no longer as frantic as before. He also became familiar with this devouring resistance method and gradually began to devour the gray cluster, leaving his opponent only able to defend himself.

Time slowly passed, a gentle breeze blew, bringing a refreshing feeling. Qing Yuangong stood beside Ye Fei, staring blankly at him, occasionally vigilantly looking around.

About half a day later, Ye Fei's body shook as he sat cross-legged, his skin radiating intense light, releasing powerful energy, and then his eyes snapped open, shining brightly with surprise.

"Heh heh! I've actually advanced to the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment!" Ye Fei said with a raised corner of his mouth, somewhat excitedly.

This time, the old man's snatch was not only unsuccessful, but also pushed Ye Fei's cultivation to a higher level. This couldn't help but make Ye Fei look forward to it, hoping that more people would come and try to snatch from him, which would save him a lot of time in meditation and practice.

But Ye Fei didn't know that, whether it was the one being possessed or the possessor, both would have some impact on their cultivation foundation. Moreover, a cultivator could only possess someone else once in their lifetime. Generally, if their own physical body was destroyed and they possessed someone with lower cultivation than themselves, the success rate would be higher.

Although the old man was said to be one small boundary higher than Ye Fei, he himself had been backlashed by practicing evil techniques and his actual strength was less than eight out of ten. Moreover, as a usurper, this made him even more passive.

Ye Fei, being the one who was possessed, had an advantage and since he didn't have any injuries, he gained this victory. However, being possessed too many times would damage his cultivation foundation and even cause him to lose his mind.

There are also evil cultivations that have similar soul-snatching techniques, using the absorption of a large number of living spirits to rapidly increase their own cultivation, but in the end, almost none of them have a good outcome.

After calming down, Ye Fei put away all the artifacts and finally fixed his gaze on that half-broken blood-red blade.

With a wave of his hand, a red broken blade fell into Ye Fei's hands, and Ye Fei examined it repeatedly.

This broken blade is not just any material, its entire body emits a blood-red color, as if it's about to drip blood, and it's extremely hard.

Leave the remnant blade there, without infusing any magical power. Even with a full-force strike from one's own top-grade magical weapon, it can only knock it flying, but cannot cause even the slightest damage.

"Fragment of the Law Treasure? It seems it should be, heh heh, unexpectedly, this time's harvest isn't bad." Ye Fei fondled it lovingly for a while before putting it away, with a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes.

Finally, Ye Fei took a look at the white skull, this object was obviously also an extreme treasure, but because it was used for evil cultivation, there should be corresponding skills, although its power was not small, Ye Fei couldn't control it.

"It's not bad to find an opportunity to sell, but unfortunately, the Wan Poison Needle is becoming less and less of a threat to foundation-building cultivators. Its power can be easily detected by divine sense, and its only advantage is that it's a bit faster." After finishing speaking, Ye Fei shook his head with some regret.

He secretly decided in his heart to find an opportunity to re-refine the flying needle, after all, its material was not ordinary magic tool materials, it should be possible to increase some power again, because this thing was quite good at sneaking attacks and its function was also very practical.

After resting for half a day, Ye Fei brought Qing Yuanniao to the somewhat familiar Wuhua Town and stayed at the Juanyuan Inn again. However, this time Ye Fei was no longer as simple and naive as he was a few years ago.

The next day, after wandering around Wu Hua Town for more than half a day without hearing any news about the villain's whereabouts, Ye Fei quietly slipped into Tao Yuan Town until evening.

Taoyuan Town, inside the Ye family compound, a white figure like a ghost, draped in hazy moonlight, stood quietly, its shadow stretched out on the ground by the moonlight, looking somewhat desolate.

This man is indeed Ye Fei, who had been circling around the Ye's residence for several rounds!

The Ye family house has long since collapsed, covered in a thick layer of dust everywhere, and the courtyard is eerily quiet, with only occasional sounds of crickets chirping.

Looking at the decorations in the courtyard, a wooden puppet with sword marks all over its body was piled up in the corner of the wall, two pots of withered plants, and a three-foot-sized millstone. All of this was so familiar and dear to Ye Fei.

"Fei Er, it's time to practice!"

"Fei'er, let your father see how good your sword skills are, can you hit that wooden dummy every time?"

"Feier, it's time to get up! Mom has made your favorite dish!"

"Hmph! You've sneaked out to steal medicinal herbs again, just you wait and see how I'll deal with you!"

A familiar voice, as if still lingering in his ears, Ye Fei closed his eyes and felt the long-lost warmth, a childlike happy smile spreading across his face. Faintly, he felt that his mood had been elevated to a certain level!

"Alas, I don't know about my parents..." His voice paused, Ye Fei opened his eyes, and they became somewhat moist.

Ye Fei is no longer the child he once was, having run away from home at 14 and spent over four years fending for himself, his temperament has undergone tremendous changes, his youthful appearance has faded, replaced by a more resolute and calm demeanor.

The Qiu family has a solid foundation, and there are other Jichu practitioners in the clan. Now going to find trouble is simply looking for death. Although Ye Fei was impulsive, he was eventually suppressed by reason.

Ye Fei had the heart to call upon thousands of fellow disciples from the Cliff Sect to come and avenge him, but after some thought, he felt that this vendetta must be personally avenged by himself, and absolutely could not involve others.

Like this, silently gazing at the Ye family's mansion, until the sky gradually brightened, Ye Fei's figure disappeared from here, leaving behind a desolate and empty mansion.

Early in the morning, the sun rises in the east, and the warm sunlight envelops the entire Taoyuan Town!

Inside a quiet tavern, guests arrived early, looking like they were doing good business. On a small table in the corner of the wall, several small dishes and a pale green gourd filled with fine wine were arranged.

At this time, a robust middle-aged man with a face that seemed to be covered in frost and eyes full of melancholy picked up his cup and drained it in one gulp.

Seeing this, a white-haired old man opposite him sighed and shook his head: "Shi Shan, don't indulge in wild fancies, they are not existences that our kind of loose cultivators can afford to provoke."

"It's just a mid-grade artifact, but it saved your life, that's what matters. Those external things are nothing more than opportunities; as long as we have enough luck, we still have a chance to obtain them."

"Hmph, they're really too much. Once I gain some power, I'll definitely eliminate the scourge of Taoyuan Town and bring peace to the town. His family..." The middle-aged man seemed about to reveal the name of the Qiu family when he was hastily stopped by the old man, who then carefully looked around to see if anyone had noticed.

"Shi Shan, don't be impulsive, don't say anything rashly, or else it will spread to others' ears and your life won't be guaranteed," the old man sighed.

The old man bowed his head and lowered his voice, saying: "Don't you forget that the Ye family was also a not-so-small family several years ago. In the end, didn't they all die at their hands?

Ye Tian was a straightforward and chivalrous person, but what's the use? Not only did both couples fall, but even their over ten-year-old child ultimately died at their hands.

There's also the Hei Shan Guo family, who initially colluded with them to kill Ye Qiang. Unexpectedly, during this period of time, they were also completely eliminated by the Hei Shan Guo family. Alas, we really can't afford to offend such an existence; after all, they have four foundation-establishment stage grandmasters."

Not far from the two, sat a youth wearing white clothes, with slightly dark skin and somewhat dull eyes. Although the old man's voice was very low, it was still easily heard by this young man with his spiritual sense. At this moment, a thread of astonishing cold light flashed in the youth's somewhat turbid eyes. (End of chapter)

I'm currently on a train, and I see that some of you have opposing views on the humorous elements in my writing. Some like it, while others don't. As expected, people have different opinions and tastes. What one person thinks is a good book, another might not even bother to read. So, I'll stick to my usual serious and solemn tone, occasionally adding some humorous elements, but not making it the main style. If there were no humorous elements at all, as one of my readers said, it would be too dull and depressing, always keeping the reader on edge, worried about the protagonist's safety, which can get tiring after a while.

As for the contrast between serious and lighthearted styles, haha, I have a deep understanding of human nature. Even an ancient being who has lived for tens of thousands of years or a naive young boy who has never seen the world can say something that makes you think they're foolish. Do you remember this line: "What? We've never met before, and you're stealing from me? What's the difference between you and a thief?" Any style is fine, as long as it's enjoyable, comfortable, and relaxing to read. After all, some readers don't want to think too much about the author's intentions or subtle hints, and when they don't understand something, they might ask: "How did this happen? Was there any foreshadowing?" These readers are just not used to the hidden depth of serious writing, and only simple, easy-to-understand stories like those written in a lighthearted style suit their taste. But I'm not too fond of that style myself, so I'll just add a bit of humor here and there. If I add too much, it wouldn't be me anymore. I hope you all understand.
