Chapter 20: It's Not Me!
Yin Jiu and several others exchanged a glance, as if they had reached some sort of agreement. Among them, Yin Qi and the leader, Yin Bo, who had not spoken until then, bowed respectfully to Tang Xin, before quietly retreating into the background.
"Princess, I'll go back and report to His Majesty to gather intelligence. For the time being, Eldest Brother and Fifth Brother will secretly protect you." Yin Jue reported the arrangements of several people to Tang Xin.
Tang Xin's eyes were filled with praise, and her body carried an innate arrogance: "Hmph, send the results to this princess as soon as they are found. This princess wants to see who is so bold."
Like a child's innocent curiosity about this world, the clear and crisp voice of the child, however, cast a layer of chill over the entire small forest.
Yin Jiu and the three others bowed and quickly disappeared before Tang Xin's eyes. Their hasty backs made it seem as if they were being chased by evil spirits, their speed leaving even Yin Bo, the leader, stunned.
Yin Bo turned around to look at Tang Xin, who was smiling innocently and cutely. He swallowed his saliva, sensing the almost imperceptible gaze, his body stiffened, his hair stood on end, and he quickly hid himself even more - the princess's gaze was truly too terrifying.
Just back to 'Senlin Ridge' - Xun Qi's place, Tang Xin was thinking of giving that bold and reckless little kitten a good bath in the house, but before she even reached the door, she was blocked by Xun Qi.
Looking at Xun Qi's back, Nie Dongge still had a worried face, and Tang Xin tilted her head in confusion and asked: "Mr. Xun and Mr. Nie seem to be in a hurry, what happened?"
Xun raised an eyebrow and smiled meaningfully: "I just lost a small peacock and was going out to look for it."
"Oh?" Tang Xin's eyes flashed: "I wonder what Mr. Xun's peacock looks like, it would be great if I could see it and broaden my horizons."
Xun Qi looked at Tang Xin's tender smile, pulled out a milky white silk handkerchief from his sleeve to cover his chest, and had a sorrowful look: "That little peacock is so beautiful, so proud. I'm in pain for her before she even grows up. You say just like that, getting lost makes people worry so much. My heart, it's like the flowers that have been beaten by the rain, broken into pieces, no matter how they are pieced together..."
"That's enough!" Tang Xin's face turned iron-green as he stared at Xun Qi, this scene was truly too painful to look at. Now there are only about two lines of stories that can describe his frustrated mood - Life is not satisfactory, it's better to hang oneself from the eastern branch; Heaven has given me talent, I must make use of it, all kinds of hanging from the eastern branch!
It's not that I'm not good enough, it's just that others are too shameless!
Nie Dongge, who was standing indifferently on the side, somehow ended up leaning against the wall and standing far away. Tang Xin's gaze swept over him, and she was shocked. That guy had actually thrown up...
Tang Xin and Nie Dongge's performance didn't seem to have any effect on Xun Qi, who was still holding a handkerchief and pretending to wipe away tears from the corner of his eyes. Under Tang Xin's increasingly cold gaze, he slowly began to reveal his fake crying tone.
Tang Xin: "......Just by looking at your expression, I can tell you want to know where I went and what I did." She paused for a moment, smiling brightly and mischievously: "You're not asking me?"
Xun Qihong said with dry eyes: "If I asked you directly where you went and what you did, you definitely wouldn't tell me, right?"
Tang Xin smiled innocently: "You didn't ask, how did you know I wouldn't say?"
Xun Qi's face lit up: "Then please, Little Tang Xin, don't hesitate to enlighten me?"
Tang Xin gave him a sideways glance: "I'm not telling you"
Xun Qi: "...", biting his handkerchief and sobbing in his heart, he knew that this child was not lovable at all.
"But going out for a short while isn't worth the two of you colluding to come find me." Tang Xin's eyes held simple puzzlement, but her tone was very certain as she said: "Speak, what happened?"
Apparently stunned by Tang Xin's cleverness for a moment, Xun Qi put the handkerchief back into his sleeve and finally returned to normal.
"At dawn, the special envoy of Shui Yun was killed by a woman with a single sword thrust to the chest at the foot of the mountain." Xun Qi explained in a solemn tone.
"It wasn't me." Tang Xin's conditioned reflexive denial was firm and decisive.
Xun Qi: "......" What's with this thick "there is no silver here for three hundred taels"?
Nie Dong: "......" What a unlucky bear kid!
"I know it's not you." Xun Qi rolled his eyes in annoyance, and just thinking that the murderer was Tang Xin made him feel insulted for a foundation-building period envoy like himself.
Nie Donggo cleared his throat and glanced at Tang Xin with a cold tone, saying: "The murderer is a woman!" The implication being that Tang Xin wasn't even considered a possible suspect as a woman.
Understood Niederwinter's meaning, Tang Xin's pair of peach blossom eyes with a slight downturn, the long eyelashes covered the cold light in her eyes, and her tone was proudly self-evident: "A small envoy, if Miss wants to kill, she will be killed."
Tang Xin threw a cold glance at Xun Qi, her soft voice carrying a hint of unpredictability: "The Water Mist Sect is just a small, inferior force. If I don't want it to exist, then it will definitely not be able to develop further."
Looking at the expression on Tang Xin's face, Xun Qi suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He secretly glanced over at Tang Xin, who was smiling innocently and cutely, but the coldness around him seemed to be taking on a life of its own. Xun Qi suddenly felt a pang of unknown regret - why had he been so reckless with his words?
I have an urge to kneel down and beg for mercy, please spare my life!
Ordinary people can interpret it, really!
"Is there anyone suspicious?" Tang Xin asked.
Xun Qikai said: "It's possible that the woman and yesterday's killer are together, maybe the target they were chasing was killed." He said in a relaxed tone.
Nie Donggo's face looked somewhat unsightly as he said: "The Five Lotus Sect and the Water Mist Sect, which are closest to here, have never gotten along."
White Lotus Society
Tang Xin's eyes flickered slightly. This was truly... too coincidental! The power her father had ordered her to eliminate just happened to be the Five Petal Sect.
"Where is Wu Lian Temple?" Tang Xin asked, as a child going out for the first time, Tang Xin found it somewhat difficult to find the place.
Nie Donggao did not conceal anything: "The Five Lotus Sect is three hundred miles outside Changjiazhuang"
"Changjiazhuang?" Xun Qi repeated in a low voice.
Nie Donggo nodded: "Not bad, that's exactly the family of Chang Zhe, and our goal this time is Changjiazhuang."
It wasn't until then that Tang Xin realized someone was missing: "Where's Chang Zhe?" No wonder the world seemed a bit quieter, it turned out to be because of the absence of that Chang Zhe who always courted death.
Xun Qi's mouth twitched, and Nie Donggao's face beside him also turned somewhat pale: "Let's have a sword fight"
Is it cheaper? Cough, is it a sword! Regarding her own suddenly twisted nerves, Tang Xin said that was all Chang Zhe's fault. However, this sword fight can be heard to know that it has something to do with the woman who rushed in and got lost, and Tang Xin didn't ask much about it either.
"Alright, I'm going to give my little pet a bath. You can take your leave if there's nothing else." Tang Xin's smiling peach blossom eyes sparkled with amusement, making Xun Qi almost lose his composure and shout: "Your humble servant takes his leave!"
