Chapter 6: The Warrior's Embarrassment (Part 1)
On the shore, sit in the standard five-posture position with your heart facing upwards to recover and cultivate energy. After this time, when practicing on the shore, that point that appeared in my mind was like a mosquito flying in front of my eyes, how could it have any impact? Quickly mobilizing the true energy, soon completed a 36-cycle large circulation of inhalation and exhalation. After inhalation and exhalation, the whole body felt light and relaxed, the dantian was full, and there was an indescribable feeling of comfort and ease.
The clothes on his body had dried, Qin Yifan looked at the calm Fist Print Lake, suddenly had an idea, facing the lake, took a deep breath and shouted loudly: "Thank you, I'll be back soon!" Turned around and left, after a day and night, he also needed to eat something to fill his stomach.
As Qin Yifan's figure disappeared, a ripple suddenly appeared in the calm lake water, and the ripple quickly spread to the shore. The water surface undulated up and down after the ripple passed, as if nodding.
Although it was extremely dangerous, Qin Yifan still felt that the trip was not in vain. This day and night, the crazy spiritual attack combined with the test of the meridians, whether from a mental or physical perspective, was a transformation like rebirth. It also had a great help for his future cultivation, at least, ordinary heart demons would no longer be able to disturb him, and even let him feel annoyed, after experiencing the storm, would he still care about such a small ditch?
The brutal and ruthless aura in his illusion was indeed perilous. Fortunately, Qin Yifan had been with ordinary people for the past few years and hadn't revisited his previous life of slaughter, so his personality had become more subdued. His hands hadn't been stained with blood for a long time. Otherwise, under such circumstances, it would have been easy for him to fall back into that murderous environment and lose all his gains.
Eating was no problem at all, and prey in the dense forest was almost within reach. As a chef himself, Qin Yifan had no trouble gathering these things. At this time, Qin Yifan was still very grateful to the county magistrate who was tens of miles away. If he hadn't kindly built an inn here and fully prepared all the utensils, how could there be such a comfortable place to rest?
After a good rest, Qin Yifan returned to the lake again. This time, he still entered the water and moved forward with an even greater amplitude, getting closer to the center of the lake. However, this time he was more cautious, and his movement was not as abrupt as before. He advanced about one zhang further than last time before stopping to start practicing his skills.
The same scene appeared again, only this time Qin Yifan had been through a intense experience and was prepared. The experience of passing the crisis last time made him understand that as long as he controlled his consciousness and could persist for a sufficient amount of time, he would be able to safely pass such a test. And in such a situation, cultivating was no longer just about increasing power, but more about tempering one's will.
The benefits are obvious, as long as you get used to this feeling bit by bit, then in the near future, you can adapt to spiritual attacks in the water just like adapting to the influence on the shore, and get closer and closer to the center of the lake.
There will always be a day when I can see with my own eyes what that so-called freak is, and then I'll set out to travel the world, visiting those extraordinary people.
In the previous treatment process, Qin Yifan had already learned from the master's mouth that in his own era, he had never heard of a martial artist who could reach the level of the person he saw that day. In fact, among the warriors Qin Yifan knew, even those with great achievements and high skills, when they grew old, were still unable to escape the troubles of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and there had never been one who could cultivate a semi-immortal state.
This is also related to the general understanding of Jianghu people in this era. First, this era emphasizes literature and despises martial arts, and those who practice martial arts are absolutely inferior in the eyes of most upper-class people. Fortunately, there are still some military generals in the imperial court, who can occupy a small position under the emperor and even in the entire country.
Of course, in the eyes of a master like him, all living beings are equal, and there is no high or low. However, practitioners who practice martial arts are not enough to enter the core of their circle.
No, the master is a cultivator, and he cultivates Buddhism. To say that in the Buddhist community, those high-ranking monks who have attained enlightenment are not because of their superior martial arts skills, this point everyone knows and acknowledges. In his understanding of cultivation, it's not impossible for practitioners to achieve great things through martial arts, and there are also Buddhist monks who practice various forms of martial arts. However, even if these warrior monks can reach that level, at most they would be playing the role of a guardian deity in front of the Buddha, like Wei Tuo, but truly enlightened beings such as Arhats or Bodhisattvas have never been achieved through martial arts practice.
But the masters who understand other cultivators, few are practicing martial arts, as if everyone is intentionally or unintentionally excluding this circle. Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian families may have some so-called guardians, but small doors and small households will not have such roles.
It's not that there aren't any seemingly martial-arts-turned-spiritual-practices, a typical example being the Shu Shan Sword Sect. It sounds like a sword sect, and in the mundane world of Jianghu, they also have their own school of thought. However, the true disciples within the sect's inner mountain gates are all cultivating swords. To put it simply, they're cultivating the sword as an instrument, not the martial arts aspect of the sword.
Medical astrology, chess, calligraphy and painting, no matter what kind of sect has cultivators. Perhaps, martial artists have always been fist-oriented, and often at odds with each other, slightly careless is the outcome of bloody flesh, so those elegant and refined cultivators are generally unwilling to mix with those martial artists who value strength above all else.
What's more important is that the process of cultivating the truth is long and arduous, and every time you cross a threshold, you need to have an epiphany in your heart. It's not something that those who practice martial arts with a mind full of killing intent can understand. Who would believe that someone with blood on their hands could gain any insight from this? Is it the thrill of slaughter? What kind of state of mind is this, and what kind of cultivator are they, if they're no different from demons and monsters? Besides, demons and monsters are just animals that have cultivated to a certain level, which one of them can't be killed?
Historically, those mythological stories can basically be found in the prototype of the cultivation world. Among those famous immortals and Taoist masters, none of them became famous because of killing, even the martial artist Wei Tuo eventually ascended to heaven due to his enlightenment of Buddhist teachings, not because of his martial arts skills.
If it's really as Master said, does that mean that martial artists can't reach that state because of these reasons? Qin Yifan didn't believe that.
