Chapter 2: Mysterious Injury (Part 1)
Qin Yifan sat at the foot of the mountain, where there was a square-shaped lake about one li in circumference. The edge of the lake was very strange, as if it had suddenly turned into a lake bottom from flat ground, without any gentle slopes or shores. The water was also flowing water, flowing in from a small stream on the west side and out from a small stream on the east side. The entrances and exits were not large, so the water level in the lake remained constant. But how could such a desolate place have a lake like this? With the nourishment of this lake, would this place still be desolate?
Apart from Qin Yifan, no one else could see that the lake at the foot of the mountain had never existed before that night. And on that night, what Qin Yifan saw was not a waterless lake, but a gigantic fist print.
The reason why the edge is so strange is that the lake was actually punched out by someone with a fist, forming a huge pit. Qin Yifan clearly remembered that after the red light flashed that night, the figure in the air became somewhat unstable. But he still saw him swing his fist down, and then be hit by a giant beam of light on his head, turning into nothingness.
One punch, just one punch, and that was after the man was invaded by the red light. Although I don't know what the red light is, it can be imagined that it's not a good thing, otherwise the man wouldn't have suddenly appeared with problems. In such a state, he could still swing out such a punch, leaving me shocked and nothing else.
Not long after, the entire fist print was covered by the high-lying flowing water and turned into a lake at the foot of the mountain.
This is a desolate region adjacent to the official road, originally with a small village, all of whom were refugees who could not make a living. Although it's just over a mountain from the official road, this place is far away from human habitation, except for large tracts of deep mountains and ancient forests, there is nothing else, it can be said that the sky is high and the emperor is far away, the government will not come to such a remote place to collect taxes on ordinary days, people's lives are quite good.
But after all, the conditions here are really too harsh, except for those towering trees, almost nothing grows, and it's unexplainable what the reason is. Most people were forced to relocate, and there was simply no way to survive. Only a few hunters could barely make a living here. The village population has also been reduced to just over a dozen.
When Qin Yifan went to join the army, there was no one left in the small village. By the time he returned from the army, this place had nothing but a desolate little village.
His parents had long since passed away, and Qin Yifan didn't really care if there was anyone here or not. After tidying up his old house, he settled down to live here peacefully. No matter what, this place could be considered his hometown, a golden nest, a silver nest, but not as good as his own doghouse. He set up a tea shed on the official road on the other side of the mountain and lived a self-sufficient life, content with his simple pleasures. Especially since there were no outsiders here, there wouldn't be any disputes, and life was very comfortable.
But there is only one thing, life is really too comfortable, without any passion. The kung fu learned from the military academy has been practiced by Qin Yifan to the extreme. In the military, what was learned was killing people, and there were no rules for sparing people on the rivers and lakes, so there was no such killing style. Once relaxed, it's really a bit uncomfortable.
Accustomed to the carnage, the sudden quietness made the influence in the army still unconscious. The habit of being vigilant at all times, which was subtly cultivated, has not changed until now. It is precisely because of this that I can see what happened that day; otherwise, it would have been just an ordinary rainy day, and there wouldn't have been such a scene.
The person in the sky brought Qin Yifan a huge shock. The cultivation of that person, really can reach such a realm! However, what kind of talent is needed to achieve that, and what kind of earth-shattering skills need to be practiced, and how many years of time are spent, to reach that height?
That man's majestic figure, defying the heavens, left an indelible mark on Qin Yifan's heart. It made him realize that there were indeed people who could achieve such astonishing heights. If it weren't for that person being too powerful, Heaven itself wouldn't have sent down such thunderbolts to punish him. What kind of achievement was it for a person to cultivate to the point where even Heaven became envious? Compared to this, his own martial skills, honed to perfection in the army, were nothing.
The deafening roar still echoed in his ears, but a seed had already been planted in his heart. At any time, this seed would not disappear. What that person brought to Qin Yifan was not only a magnificent view, but also unparalleled confidence and the direction of his own efforts from now on. If others could do it, Qin Yifan believed he was no worse than others and he would definitely be able to do it too.
Apart from the spiritual shock brought to Qin Yifan, that person also left some things behind. It's unknown whether it was Qin Yifan's long hair that caught that person's attention, but when that person vanished into thin air, a burst of bright light exploded out. Among them, several rays were actually heading in Qin Yifan's direction.
Perhaps it was that person's cultivation that was truly astonishing, leading to the heavens' jealousy. In mid-air, several bolts of lightning flashed, striking the object flying towards Qin Yifan, shattering it into countless pieces right before his eyes.
Qin Yifan was only able to collect one broken piece of the weapon. It might have been a long-handled knife when it was intact, but now only about a foot or so in length remained. After Qin Yifan's polishing, it was restored to a complete knife tip section. After installing the handmade knife handle, it became a strange shape that didn't look like a short knife or a dagger. If one had to describe it, it would be almost like a kitchen knife with a slightly thinner blade.
It wasn't Qin Yifan's intention to make the broken knife look like this, but not doing so would have looked a bit awkward. Fortunately, such a kitchen knife, in the eyes of ordinary people, is only used for many years, and the blade is worn thin after grinding, and there won't be any deep thoughts. Qin Yifan himself also found it somewhat amusing, a kitchen knife, isn't this making him return to his old profession?
Except for Qin Yifan, no one saw the situation that day. And Qin Yifan himself also felt an unusual sense of regret for that person's failure at the last moment of fighting against heaven. Of course, the inexplicable red light that appeared also made Qin Yifan very concerned. Qin Yifan firmly believed that if it weren't for that red light, that person would not have failed at the critical moment.
And this huge lake, which was blasted out by that person's fist in mid-air, became the place where Qin Yifan was most suspicious. Why did he suddenly punch downwards at the last moment, and with such force? Was there something underneath?
