Chapter 6: Mysterious Strange Beast
Jiu discovered a fierce battle unfolding in the distance ahead and instinctively ducked down.
After crouching down, I finally realized that this was the realm of the demon corpses. These guys couldn't see me after I took the invisibility pill.
Jiu felt a bit too tense, stood up with a smile, and strode towards the location where the battle was taking place.
As they drew closer, Zhu Jiu discovered that one of the combatants was a Daoist corpse he had been searching for all day. It was a humanoid skull with a white skeleton, nearly two meters tall, holding a two-foot-long bone staff in its hand. The top of the staff was slightly thicker and burned with a red flame similar to soul fire.
Its opponent was even more bizarre, a strange skeleton that Chiu saw for the first time, which looked like the remains of a large feline creature after death, slightly larger than a tiger or a male lion, and the entire skeleton was as big as a calf.
Unlike other felines, this skeleton has several jagged bone spines on its back that provide ample protection for the relatively weak lumbar vertebrae of these vertebrates.
The most bizarre thing is that this skeleton is an extremely strange and beautiful green color, with a smooth body, like a rare jade carving. Occasionally, a thread of enchanting red color flashes out from the green skeleton, and the two colors alternate and change, making it look very mysterious and eerie. The whole skeleton looks like a work of art that has been refined to the extreme.
When Zhu Jiu approached within fifty or sixty meters, the two sides in the battle suddenly became aware of it, turned their heads to look at Zhu Jiu's position, and silently roared upwards.
These two demon corpses responded with such extraordinary sensitivity, Zhu Jiu was greatly shocked and retreated tens of meters in a row. The belligerents gradually stopped roaring and stared at each other again, the red soul fire in their eye sockets suddenly brightened, and both sides fought fiercely together once more.
The undead fought relentlessly, and Jiu had long since grown accustomed to their battles in this half-day. Their fights were uncompromising, ending only when one side's soul fire was absorbed. If a third party tried to approach during their battle, they would be seen as a challenger and attacked by both sides with combined force.
Jiu stood dozens of meters away, quietly watching the intense battle between the two sides. The eye sockets of the humanoid skull had a dark red soul fire, which was a high-ranking Red Soul Corpse.
He grasped a black bone staff in his bony hand, and the head of the staff constantly had red fireballs burning and generating. These flames were generated quickly flew out, forming a ring shape surrounding the skull's body.
The flames looked formidable, but unexpectedly they were on the defensive.
The two-colored skull of the opposite beast's soul fire flickered, far less than the brightness of the human-shaped skull. It was a primary or barely mid-grade Red Soul Corpse, unexpectedly, the power of this barely mid-grade corpse could rival that of the rarest and highest grade Corpse in the demon corpse, and even took the initiative in the confrontation.
This strange phenomenon only piqued Zhao Jiu's interest, his eyes wide with excitement as he stared at the two-colored skeletal beast across from him. He discovered that this guy moved steadily and slowly around the outer ring of flames, waiting for an opportunity to suddenly leap up and attack fiercely and violently.
The opposing technique skull saw the opponent pounce and launched several fireballs in a row, hitting the monster's forehead with a "puff" sound, effectively stopping the monster's pounce.
The strange beast fell to the ground, shaking its bony head repeatedly. It seemed that it had suffered a great deal of damage, but the greenish glow emanating from its eerie skeleton flashed and the charred black spots on its skull quickly returned to normal. However, the soul fire in its eyes dimmed slightly compared to before.
The strange beast let out a silent roar to the sky, as if its furious anger was uncontrollable. It slightly crouched down and accumulated power, then suddenly leapt up again, rushing forward rapidly amidst the continuously incoming fireballs of attack.
Several fireballs hit the skeleton of the alien beast one after another, but this guy didn't retreat at all. His temper was so violent and fierce that he would rather hurt himself than quickly kill his opponent without taking a step back.
The opposite party's technique was like a skull that retreated continuously, wanting to pull open the distance, but it was far from being as fast as the speed of a beast in a frantic run. After retreating more than ten meters, he was finally caught up by the alien beast that rushed over.
This skull was also rich in combat experience, and at the sight of no retreat, the crimson soul fire suddenly brightened, and a black short rod on his hand emitted a dazzling red light, shooting out a fist-sized flame meteor, which collided with the waist and abdomen of the high-jumping alien beast, and several crystal green ribs were silently burned into a hole the size of a fist.
However, the strange beast did not dodge or evade, and with its body in mid-air, it swiftly stretched out its massive sharp claws and slapped them onto the skull's head. The skull's neck bone snapped loudly, and the skull flew out over ten meters before rolling to the ground.
What a powerful and fierce attacking force!
The victorious beast was not easy to get, not only did it land unsteadily, but its entire skeletal system also emitted a crisp "crack" sound. The several bones at the waist and abdomen that had been attacked last were all on the verge of collapse, and the rest of its body's eerie green skeleton had large areas turn black, losing its original luster.
Jiu stood about fifty or sixty meters away, shocked by this brief but intense battle. This fierce beast was so overbearing, either you died or it did, its ferocity was awe-inspiring!
Wishing for great movement in the nine thoughts, this strange beast is so mysterious and divine, it must not be an ordinary object. If it can be subdued, wouldn't that be far superior to magic spells and demonic corpses?!
On the battlefield, the strange beast had already walked to the location where the skull head rolled down, poked out its head and began the process of absorbing the soul fire.
As the alien beast sucked, the red soul fire in the skull slowly lengthened and was absorbed into the alien beast's skull. The originally bright soul fire in the skull gradually dimmed and disappeared, and finally even the skull lost its due luster and became rotten and dilapidated.
Correspondingly, the body of the alien beast emitted a bright green luster again, and the hole that was originally burned through at the waist and abdomen quickly grew back to its original state.
The soul fire in the skull of the strange beast is even brighter, lively and jumping in the skull, like a living thing.
The color of this soul fire gradually became bright red, finally in a bright red appearance, which is the true middle grade of Corpse Refining. This absorption allowed it to take a small step forward on its path of evolution.
The strange beast absorbed the soul fire inside the skull, lifted its thick bone claws, and crushed the skull that had lost energy with one swipe. It turned around and walked towards the skull's headless skeleton position, exerting force again to absorb fiercely, not letting go of even a single thread of residual soul power within the skeleton.
Finally, the skeleton that had lost its last bit of soul power gradually withered away, dispersing in the wind, leaving no trace behind.
The fierce beast suddenly let out a deafening roar, its silent yet majestic presence causing the souls to ripple and surge outward in waves. Within a thousand meters, over a thousand scarlet corpses turned their gaze towards the beast's location, but not one dared to accept this silent challenge, instead retreating and fleeing further away. The nearby hundreds of demon corpses all acknowledged the beast's position as the strongest.
The silent roar of the alien beast suddenly stopped, and its eerie green skull swayed to stare at Zhu Jiu's location. It sensed a thread of soul power filled with vitality, which made it extremely yearn for, coming from there. This breath was so attractive!
He gently held a piece of soul-calming green copper in his palm, wishing him to take nine steps towards the alien beast, and deep down, he felt an inexplicable tension.
Sensing the approach of the ninth land, the beast's eye sockets suddenly lit up with a red glow, and through its eye sockets, one could clearly see the trembling of the soul fire. This guy was moved!
