Chapter 29: You're a Little Rascal
Everything is ready, only lacking the rain. The rain, where can it be found? Can only wait for the rain to come. Ye Nan patted his head and sighed. The weather forecast for the past two days did not indicate any signs of rain, which made him very worried, unable to do anything, could only slowly wait.
In the following days, there was nothing special, and Ye Nan was caught by Fang Wei for intense training. The car practice was also pretty good, at least now he could drive slowly in places with not too many people.
The already crazy infatuation with driving Ye Nan, now as soon as he gets off work, he pulls Fang Wei to practice driving. In less than twenty days, he can drive like a pro, which makes Fang Wei very satisfied. At first, he boasted that it would take only a month for Ye Nan to learn, and it seems that there's basically no problem with that.
Watching Ye Nan shift gears and turn in the traffic flow, Fang Wei couldn't help but nod his head and sigh: "I didn't expect you to learn things so quickly, when I first learned it took me a month before I could drive out on my own."
Ye Nan listened to this and felt proud in his heart, raised his head, and said with a swagger: "Hmph... don't you think about it, I'm the type of person who is naturally talented."
"Alright... stop bragging, I know you're great already. Next time we go back, take a photo and I'll get you a driver's license!" Fang Wei said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Ye Nan became excited and took the booklet. He could now drive around openly on the road with confidence. However, he thought to himself: "Don't I need to take a driver's test? Won't Fang Wei just find some street vendor to swindle me..."
Although Fang Wei seemed quite confident, Ye Nan looked at him and asked weakly: "Are you sure you can get me a certificate without taking the exam? You're not going to find some street vendor who makes fake certificates, are you?"
Upon hearing this, Fang Wei's eyebrows jumped in disorder, and he started to get angry. He gritted his teeth and said hatefully: "Don't think you can just forget about it, or I'll be troubled..."
Hearing this, Ye Nan completely put his mind at ease and hurriedly accompanied with a "heh heh" laugh: "Want to, want to... of course want to."
This night's dream, is still a dream...
Ye Nan took another small step forward, and after learning more than a dozen talismans, the old Taoist finally taught a new one today - the middle-grade Water Spirit Talisman, a talisman that could control water.
With this talisman, Ye Nan could finally stop waiting for rain and easily drew a water spirit symbol in mid-air. As the talisman dispersed, Ye Nan felt a warm and moist energy gathering towards the symbol in mid-air, quickly condensing into a fist-sized ball of water. Ye Nan hastily guided the water ball into a cup that had been prepared beforehand, filling it to the brim.
Ye Nan felt a thrill of excitement, and now he had the rootless water too, so all the materials for making talismans were complete.
Ye Nan set up the array, took out the inkstone, yellow paper, brush, cinnabar, and the black dog blood from the refrigerator, and arranged them on a table. First, he started to mix the talisman ink, just as he poured some of the rootless water into the inkstone, when suddenly there was a loud shout behind him, which startled Ye Nan so much that his hand shook and he spilled the cup of water all over the floor. Turning around in anger, he found Fang Wei staring blankly at the things on the table with his mouth agape.
After a good half cup, Fang Wei finally trembled with his fingers, pointing at the thing on the table, and looked at Ye Nan stuttering: "Nan Zi, could it be that you really know how to draw that ghostly thing?"
"Haha... kid, just watch from the side." Ye Nan said with a smug expression.
Muttering to himself, "A cup of rootless water, three mace of cinnabar, a cup of black dog's blood..." he scooped out three spoonfuls of cinnabar into the inkstone, picked up the large test tube containing the dog's blood, and poured in a cup using a small white wine cup. He stirred it with a brush, and soon it turned into a deep red, slightly thick ink.
Then, he took out a yellow paper and cut it into six strips, each half an inch wide and seven inches long. Next, he focused his mind on the Zifu, drew out a strand of spiritual energy from within, concentrated it in his left hand's middle and index fingers, and with his fingers shaped like a sword, used the spiritual energy to sweep across the yellow paper strips once, infusing them with spirit, making the paper officially become talisman paper that could be used for writing talismans.
Everything is ready, Fang Wei puffed up his eyes and didn't dare to breathe out, staring at Ye Nan's every move.
Ye Nan picked up the brush, dipped it in ink twice, took a deep breath, and focused his spirit on the brush. With a flick of his wrist, a Water Spirit Symbol was formed, accompanied by a faint flash of light that was barely visible to the naked eye.
Fang Wei took a look at Ye Nan's self-satisfied expression and knew it was about right. He grabbed the token and flipped it over twice, but couldn't see anything special about it.
Had no choice but to return it to Ye Nan, looking at Ye Nan with suspicion and saying: "This won't be just a fake, a mere facade, will it? To me, it's just a torn piece of paper?"
"Hmph..." Ye Nan let out a snort of disdain from his nose, looking down on Fang Wei. He pinched the charm between his fingers, not even bothering to recite the incantation, and with a flick of his spiritual energy, he tossed it at Fang Wei's face. A small waterball, about half the size of a basketball, suddenly appeared in mid-air and splashed onto Fang Wei's face with a "plop".
Fang Wei blinked his eyes, stupidly wiped the water on his face, and looked down at the half-wet shirt in front of his chest. He looked at Ye Nan's innocent face and stuttered out a sentence: "This... what is this thing..."
"Water Spirit Symbol..." Ye Nan was also speechless, the power of this talisman after being drawn was much greater than the power of the spell used by Ling Kong, almost twice as strong, resulting in Fang Wei's current miserable state.
"Water Spirit Symbol? Isn't it a spell used to drive away ghosts in Hong Kong ghost movies...?"
Ye Nan was stared at by Fang Wei's passionate and inquisitive eyes, making him feel numb all over. Helplessly, he could only give a brief explanation to satisfy this curious baby: "Talismans are divided into many types, talismans for driving out ghosts are called exorcising talismans, evil-breaking talismans, etc., while the one I just used is a water spirit talisman, it's a type of talisman used to control water, got it?"
Fang Wei rolled his eyes, seemingly understanding yet not quite getting it, and rubbed his head before grinning and saying: "I don't get it... but I do understand one thing, you're now officially a standard little rascal!"
Ye Nan no longer had the heart to bother with this person, he drew out another water spirit symbol, and after urging it with spiritual power, soon formed another water ball of roughly the same size as before. Looking at the floating water ball, Ye Nan guided it into the kitchen sink using his spiritual power, and came to a conclusion in his mind - that the power of talismans was indeed stronger than simply using spiritual power to draw out symbols, and could be stored in large quantities for convenient use, truly worthy of being a must-have item for bandits...
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. Later on, after learning the powerful magic spell, with a large number of talismans in hand, it would be easy to take down gods and demons... dealing with those small ghosts from last time would be no big deal, even if there were seven or eight of them, let alone ten.
Fang Wei looked at Ye Nan with a sly smile, knowing that this kid was starting to get too full of himself. He wondered what kind of perverted thoughts were going through his head now, and whether he would draw some kind of lust-inducing symbol again, or why else would he be smiling so slyly?
Thinking of this, Fang Wei suddenly remembered the beautiful girl he didn't pick up at the bar a few days ago, and his heart itched. This won't do, with benefits, brothers must share together, thinking about it, he hurriedly woke up Ye Nan who was immersed in fantasy.
Yeshan woke up and inexplicably stared at Fang Wei's flattering face: "Wei, what's wrong? With this expression, it makes people feel uneasy."
"Huh? Nanz, aren't we good brothers?" Upon hearing this, Ye Nan's heart skipped a beat. What was this kid up to? Definitely nothing good. He hastily replied: "Yeah... who said we weren't?"
"That's good, brother has good stuff, isn't it to share together?" Ye Nan blinked his eyes and nodded: "This reason is not wrong."
Fang Wei rubbed his nose, seemingly a bit embarrassed to say it. Ye Nan looked at Fang Wei who was being somewhat evasive and also rubbed his nose, feeling anxious in his heart, thinking: "This kid is usually not so shy, could it be that this kid has that tendency...??" His forehead started to sweat.
Finally, Fang Wei awkwardly laughed a few times and hesitantly smiled: "Heh... Nangong Ziyu, do you have that kind of charm here that can be used to pick up chicks? Let's share it together, good brothers."
Upon hearing this, Ye Nan's eyes suddenly turned black and he almost fainted, barely managing to regain consciousness. He immediately shouted in righteous indignation: "What are you thinking, kid? This isn't some kind of bizarre sorcery or demonic possession, nor is it any sort of evil or heretical practice."
A basin of cold water thoroughly doused Fang Wei's enthusiasm, and he slunk away with his tail between his legs.
