Chapter 46: The Seven Sages of Hongyuan Gate Gather to Unite the Heavenly Way and Protect All Living Beings
Laozi became a saint and called himself Taishang Laojun.
The human tribe emerged from the multitude of gods, and after Laozi established his teachings, he no longer stayed in the vicinity of Qingqiu Mountain. The five hundred years of peaceful years were a golden period of development for the human tribe, who was good at giving birth. With many births and few deaths, and with the protection of Qingqiu Mountain, the human tribe accumulated nearly ten million people in the five hundred years. Later, they divided into tribes, dispersed, and specifically looked for places where the Wu and Yao tribes had no influence, established their own tribes, and the human tribe began to spread throughout the vast expanse of Honghuang. The world of Honghuang seemed to have three main characters, and the struggle that would unfold in the future seemed to be predetermined.
This time, Laozi's successful attainment of sainthood is like a large ladle stirring the chaotic world, causing a huge stir. The other disciples of Hongyuan Gate who had not attained sainthood still had a glimmer of hope in their hearts, thinking that attaining sainthood did not necessarily mean becoming a saint, and that with hard work, they would eventually have an opportunity. However, first Nüwa attained sainthood through her merits, followed by Laozi's attainment of sainthood, and there were even rumors that Qinglian Daoren, the least outstanding of Hongyuan Gate's four disciples, had also become a saint. All of these people had been appointed to their positions as saints. Yet not one of those who had not attained sainthood was seen to have become a saint. It seems that the words of Hongyuan Dadao were indeed not empty.
For several gods who have obtained the holy position, Laozi's actions have undoubtedly pointed out a direction for them to move forward.
The two Westerners took the lead in raising the great flag, proclaiming the establishment of the Western Paradise with great compassion and determination. They promised that all those who believed in the Western Paradise would have great good fortune. It is said that one grain of sand is one world, one leaf is one Bodhi, as long as there is Buddha in the heart, everywhere is paradise. The two also called themselves the Two Holy Ancestors of Buddhism. Under the gate of Hong Jun, the great law of Fan Men, the Buddhist family finally became one. On the day of becoming a saint, at the intersection of East and West, the two recited scriptures and Buddha's voice for three months without stopping. Many people were influenced by the description of the Western Paradise in the Brahman sound, calling out "Amitabha Buddha" and directly entering the Western Buddhist sect. Some became monks of the Sha Gate, while others became Bhikkhu monks, chanting compassion every day, not reciting Huang Ting, nor worshiping Hong Jun.
Yuanshi and Tongtian, the two remaining of Sanqing, also drew calabaza. One established the Tianxuan teaching, and the other established the Jue teaching. One was called Yuanshi Tianzun, and the other was called Tongtian Jiaozhu. Although the two were both part of Sanqing, the teachings they established were vastly different, and the Taoist methods used to establish the teachings were also greatly different.
The way to transcend, advocates for teaching without distinction, under the heavenly way, all living beings are equal. All who have a heart towards the Tao are destined to be so. If they are taught with great Dharma, their future achievements will surely be extraordinary. His view is that the key to achieving the Tao lies in whether one has a heart towards the Tao.
The Primordial Way advocates that the quality of one's birth determines their fate, and the chaos has opened up to give rise to various living beings, which are divided into three, six, or nine grades. Those who are not born with a special gift or have not obtained the Tao through spiritual roots cannot enter the gate of the Primordial Way. Obviously, this does not include those demonic tribes, which refer to creatures with fur, feathers, scales, and shells, such as flowers, trees, insects, fish, birds, and beasts - how can they be included in the eyes of the Primordial Law?
The dispute between Tongtian and Yuanshi began here. Both of them belong to the Three Pure Ones, transformed from Pangu's primordial spirit, and are both concerned with maintaining a good reputation and adhering to the Taoist orthodoxy. What is more controversial is that they both think the other is wrong, which has laid down some hidden troubles. In the future, how can they avoid disputes over the Taoist orthodoxy, teachings, and reputations? The more prestigious and powerful people are, the more they value their reputation and their own views. Zhou Cheng came from a later generation and had once seen two professors who were invited to give lectures at school because of their different academic perspectives, angrily attacked each other, exposing each other's shortcomings and damaging each other's reputations.
In the Hong Jun Gate, seven saints were appointed, but now they have all returned to their positions. The Heavenly Way has a number, and there should be nine holy seats. With the emergence of the seven saints from the Hong Jun Gate, only two are left. The people of the Hong Huang are envious and jealous, and after being stimulated, they turned their greedy eyes to the last two, fearing that as soon as there is news, a great battle will erupt in the Hong Huang. The struggle for the holy seat is simple. If no one has eaten crab before, then the crab is just a pile of moving shell-like objects, but once someone eats it first, everyone thinks it's delicious. Trends, ah trends, even becoming a saint can't escape.
Hongjun's seven saints all came out, and ten years later, Hongjun summoned them. After the crowd of saints returned to their positions, they gathered together in the Purple Mist Palace for the first time.
When Zhou Cheng arrived at the Purple Mansion, he found that everyone had already arrived, and only he was late.
"Haha, Fourth Junior Brother, you're late again. Are you trying to be the last of all saints?" Yuanshi Tianzun said with a smile as soon as Zhou Cheng arrived. It wasn't entirely sarcastic; he just wanted to have some fun at Zhou Cheng's expense. Now that everyone had become saints and were indestructible, they still needed to take care of each other's faces.
"Heavenly Lord, your words are not quite right. Fourth Brother is a clean and capable person, he just arrived a bit late, that's all." Zhun Ti held the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree in his hand, and said with some pride: "This time we are all mixed yuan saints, it's really the greatest fortune since the opening of the Hongyuan. Ah, Amitabha Buddha." He no longer remembered the hatred from the two previous times, after all, he was at fault both times, and had wronged Fourth Brother. What he wanted to do most now was to get along with everyone, so that in the future he could muddy the waters and fish. As for Zhou Cheng, he no longer felt afraid of him, since he himself was already a saint and had refined the Cheng Dao Treasure, even if he couldn't beat him, at least he wouldn't be afraid of him.
"Fourth Brother, Nüwa has paid her respects. Thinking of our teacher's door, the gathering of saints returned to their positions, just ten years ago, the teacher summoned us to meet. I don't know what's going on?" Nüwa also came over and asked.
"En, Nüwa's junior sister is polite. It seems that the teacher's cultivation has made great progress, what instructions do you have?" Hongjun's cultivation had already made great progress, at least before the distribution of treasures. The reason why he hadn't merged with the Heavenly Way for a long time was that he was waiting for his own disciples to return and hand over their duties before taking action.
Among the chatter of the crowd, a young boy with a dustpan in his hand walked out of the inner hall and announced: "The Master has spoken, the Zi Xiao Palace will no longer be lecturing, from now on, all the Holy Ones and fellow disciples who have something to ask the Master can go to the inner hall."
Everyone listened and sang in unison, "Teacher is the best." Then they followed the children into the inner hall of the Purple Cloud Palace.
Hongjun's expression was calm and tranquil, like an ancient well without ripples. When he saw the crowd approaching, he first instructed a young boy to offer them a mat, then slightly raised his eyelids and said: "In my sect, all the saints have returned to their positions and will no longer give lectures on the great way from now on. This time I summoned you all, but it's for another matter..." Before he finished speaking, Hongjun looked up at the sky outside the hall, seemingly lost in thought.
The people below did not speak either, quietly waiting for orders.
"I have made great progress in my cultivation, and I feel the grandeur of the Heavenly Way, which is both greatly benevolent and greatly malevolent. The great trend of the Heavenly Way is that among the fifty numbers, one is missing. Although I possess a great method, I am unable to make it complete. However, after much contemplation, my intention is to unite my body with the Heavenly Way, care for all living things, prolong the great benevolence of Heaven and Earth, and supplement the great malevolence of Heaven and Earth."
Everyone was overjoyed upon hearing the news. With Hong Jun merging with the Way, he would no longer be a saint in the future, but rather a principle, and it's unlikely that he would still care about the affairs of the Primordial Chaos, so everyone couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. Although everyone had become saints, they still had a powerful teacher like Hong Jun suppressing them from above, how could they live freely and at ease? This time, with Hong Jun merging with the Way, it was just what the crowd of saints needed to cure their worries.
"I still hope the teacher will think thrice!!" Although they were extremely delighted in their hearts, everyone stood up and bowed down to say.
"My will is already broken, you all take care of yourselves from now on. Remember that the heavenly way does not change, and I, Hong Jun, will no longer appear." With these final words of warning, Hong Jun informed everyone that from then on, as long as they did not excessively defy heaven, he would no longer be involved in their affairs.
"Teacher Xian'en, we bid farewell." This trip to the Purple Cloud Palace was quite fruitful. Hongjun insisted on merging with the Heavenly Way, which delighted everyone.
Zhou Cheng was deeply moved, and the affectionate Hong Jun finally became the virtuous Hong Jun. The affectionate Hong Jun had been considerate of himself in many ways, and his gratitude could not be expressed in words. He sincerely knelt down, and after bowing to Hong Jun one last time, he didn't care whether he was concerned or not, got up and followed the crowd away. Just a few steps later, however, he saw his footsteps become disordered, instantly recovered, turned around and knelt down again, kowtowed three times, and left the palace.
Hong Jun nodded slightly, a smile spreading across his face. He opened his mouth and said two words: "He Dao!!" Then his body disappeared into thin air, leaving no trace behind.
