Thirty-Five, Secrets of the Primordial Chaos
Xun Daozi listened to Yuan Shi's explanation of the lifespan of cultivators, and when he heard that those who had attained the Great Luo Fruit could live as long as the universe itself, and that those who had attained the Hunyuan stage could survive even if the universe were destroyed, his face filled with longing.
At first, Tongtian saw his yearning expression and also had a sympathetic heart.
It's been a long time, Xun Daozi finally withdrew his longing gaze and turned to look at Yuan Shi Dao: "Master, so it seems that cultivators cultivate just to attain the Great Way and gain eternal life beyond heaven and earth. Shouldn't cultivators just focus on their own cultivation and strive to achieve enlightenment as soon as possible? But I know that in the vast expanse of the universe, many cultivators are engaged in struggles and have not been focusing solely on their cultivation. What is the reason for this?"
Yuanshi's face sank as soon as he heard Xun Daozi's question, and he exchanged a glance with Tongtian. With both hands moving in tandem, they drew mysterious and profound trajectories that vanished into the void. Tongtian also changed his usual nonchalant expression to a serious one, and followed suit by moving his hands to draw profound dao marks that disappeared into the surrounding void of the bamboo pavilion.
Xun Daozi looked at Yuan Shi inexplicably, and Tong Tian's serious expression made him dare not ask.
After a while, Yuan Shi stopped pressing the key and turned to look at Xun Daozi with a serious face. His expression was stern, his face majestic, and he spoke in a low voice: "Xun Daozi, you are my first disciple. What I am about to tell you today can only be heard by your ears, not a single word can be leaked out. Can you remember it in your heart and never betray me? Remember?"
Xun Daozi saw that Yuan Shi was so serious, he knew that what Yuan Shi would say next must be extraordinary. He quickly knelt down and said: "Disciple will remember the master's words carefully and absolutely not reveal a single word of what the master says to the disciple today. If the disciple reveals the master's words without the master's permission, then let the disciple have no hope of attaining enlightenment in this life." After finishing speaking, he looked at Yuan Shi with a determined face.
Yuanshi listened to him finish speaking, his face slightly relaxed, and he said in a low voice: "You get up and sit down."
"Master, I didn't want to mention this to you, but since you've asked, if I don't explain it to you, I'm afraid it will mislead your cultivation. So, I'll have to force myself to tell you, but remember not to reveal it. What I'm about to tell you is the true secret of the Primordial Chaos, which I know because my master and his siblings were transformed by Pangu's primordial spirit and inherited his legacy. Now, I'll tell you everything so that you can also understand the path of cultivation in the Primordial Chaos."
You say that cultivators only cultivate to attain the Great Dao, transcend the world and live forever, this statement can be considered correct; but if you say that one only needs to focus on cultivating and attaining the Dao, then it's wrong. Do you know how difficult it is for a cultivator to attain the fruit of the Dao? You think anyone can easily attain the Taiyi Scatter Immortal position like you did?"
Xun Daozi could only lower his head and smile wryly.
Yuanshi glanced at Xun Daozi and continued: "Cultivators find it difficult to attain enlightenment, the difficulty lies in the fact that there is no path to enlightenment, no door to understanding. The primordial heaven and earth have things that exist before the heavens, which contain traces of the Tao, obtaining them can help cultivators understand and attain the Tao. This is what is meant by 'heavenly treasures and earthly gems' hiding the traces of the Tao, otherwise how could they be called heavenly treasures and earthly gems? They are merely the hidden traces of the Tao that can aid cultivators in understanding and attaining the Tao. When such items appear in the world, they will naturally attract cultivators to fight over them, leading to conflict. This is something that many cultivators in the primordial era already know, it's not a secret."
What truly makes the cultivators of the Grand Primordium fight relentlessly are the two points that your master is about to tell you, listen carefully.
One, the struggle for luck. Luck is intangible and elusive, yet it truly exists. When people say that a cultivator has a deep accumulation of good fortune and great opportunities, they are actually referring to the fact that this cultivator has good luck." As he said this, Yuanshi looked at Xun Daozi again, "Take you for example, look at how much effort you've put in. Why do others exhaust themselves with hardships and difficulties yet can't find a place with dense spiritual energy to settle down, while you possess such a wonderful place? The 'Heart-Cleansing Dust' and 'Heart-Protecting Sword' on your body are truly precious treasures. Who else could obtain them so easily? Not to mention that every time you go out, you can get treasures like the Hunyuan Furnace, and bring back spiritual tea that others can only envy. What's even more enviable is that you also possess the 'Nine Dragons Snow Jade Pine' which can refine your physical body, as well as the 'Enlightenment Tea' that drives cultivators from the Primordial Chaos crazy. To have such treasures and not be aware of them, to waste them like this, how could other cultivators not speak out? This is your luck, something others cannot force. Luck can bring all sorts of assistance to a cultivator. However, luck will not increase without reason, but it will deplete. When your luck runs out, your good fortune will disappear, and the obstacles in your cultivation will mysteriously increase. But there's one thing - luck can be struggled for. The struggle for luck is extremely subtle, yet there are many methods to do so. One, gathering with those who have luck. Cultivators with luck gathering together will cause their luck to have a certain additive effect. However, if there are cultivators with extremely bad luck among them, it will also dilute the luck of the other cultivators. Two, striking down opponents with luck. This is a situation where one's gain is another's loss - when an opponent with luck is struck down, their luck is consumed, and some of that luck can be obtained. Of course, opponents with luck are not easy to strike down, and if you're not careful, you'll be counterattacked and lose your own luck instead. Three, doing things beneficial to the Primordial Chaos' heaven and earth will gain its blessings, which is merit. With merit, one's luck will naturally increase. However, cultivators cannot clearly know what actions are beneficial or harmful to the Primordial Chaos' heaven and earth - perhaps they think they're being beneficial but are actually harming it, causing them to lose their luck instead. Thus, the struggle for luck is especially intense, yet many Primordial Chaos cultivators do not understand this, relying solely on a faint intuition as they become obsessed with fighting. Additionally, regarding luck, there's also the fact that luck can be suppressed. There exists a type of treasure in this world that can suppress luck, causing a cultivator's luck to stabilize and greatly reduce their luck depletion. Stronger versions can suppress the luck of millions of cultivators, while weaker ones can only suppress one cultivator's luck. Whether strong or weak, these treasures are extremely difficult to find - only those with excellent luck can obtain them. If such treasures appear in the world and become known to many cultivators, they will inevitably create a calamity. Do you know what the greatest use of the Hunyuan Furnace you obtained is? It's not for defense or offense as I previously told you, nor is it for refining pills or equipment. Its greatest function is actually to suppress luck - otherwise, with just this one furnace, your Master and the others wouldn't have put in so much effort to warm it up. Right now, your Master is even specially opening the furnace to refine the Seven-Turn Golden Elixir to nourish it. After you've made offerings to it, place it in the Wudao Mountain's Enlightenment Tea Temple - do not move it lightly. With this, the Wudao Mountain lineage can be at ease. That initial beast that obtained this furnace must have had its luck exhausted, allowing this treasure to fall into your hands.
"This is the core of the struggle among the cultivators in the vast wilderness. Cultivators cultivate to absorb the vital energy of the vast wilderness to nourish themselves, which is a matter of plundering. Although the vast wilderness is boundless, it cannot allow endless cultivators to plunder without restraint. The vast wilderness has various calamities. These calamities have intensified the struggle among cultivators. Therefore, cultivators cultivate on one hand to prove their way, and on the other hand, they cultivate to increase their strength, in order to protect themselves from these calamities."
Yuanshi looked at Xun Daozi and said with a heavy heart: "Disciple, I and your Shifu and Shibo obtained the inheritance of Pangu, so we know this secret of the vast wilderness. Many practitioners in the vast wilderness are fighting each other, just because of a faint sense of response, but they don't really understand why they do so. You can only remember it in your heart, don't speak it out loud. Remember! Remember!"
Xun Daozi originally thought that he had memories of the past, and there was nothing hidden from him in the Hongyuan world. However, he didn't expect to have such a secret revealed to him. Moreover, he didn't think that Yuanshi would share such a secret with him, especially when his master and senior uncle showed no desire for possession when he offered them the Hunyuan furnace, but instead used their energy to help him temper it to suppress his aura. He was deeply moved by his masters' protection of him, and after listening to Yuanshi's explanation, he stood up, knelt down, and solemnly bowed his head several times to Yuanshi, making a serious promise not to reveal a single word of what Yuanshi had said today.
Yuanshi was also very satisfied and valued Xun Daozi, so he told him the true secret of the vast wilderness, making him truly understand the truth of the vast wilderness cultivation, not being confused by appearances.
Yuanshi let him get up and sit down, waved his hand, and suddenly felt that the bamboo pavilion around him was rippling, disappearing in an instant, as if nothing had happened.
Yuanshi said to Xun Daozi, "Now that you have attained the Taiyi scattered immortal fruit position, many spiritual methods and techniques can be cultivated. As your master, I will once again transmit to you the refined method of shrinking the earth into an inch. Moreover, your divine soul far surpasses that of ordinary practitioners in the same realm. As your master, I can impart to you the 'Qingyun Golden Lamp Technique' for protecting one's body, which you should cultivate diligently."
Tongtian said with a smile, "Xun Daozi, your master has indeed handed over all the treasures to you. He really treasures you!" After finishing speaking, he looked at Xun Daozi with a seemingly smiling yet not quite smiling expression.
The disciple then knelt before Yuan Shi and said: "Disciple thanks Master for his concern, will definitely work hard to practice the magical skills passed down by Master, and will not disappoint Master's expectations."
Yuanshi nodded, raised his hand and pointed at Xun Daozi. A streak of green light flashed and entered Xun Daozi's brow. In the sea of consciousness, a new light sphere appeared.
Just as Xun Daozi was about to react, Tongtian said on the side: "Xun Daozi, your talent for thunder methods is not bad. I will also help you achieve it and teach you my 'Upper Clear Thunder Method'. I hope you can combine your master's, master's father's and my techniques of attracting thunder and controlling thunder to create your own unique thunder method. Also, the 'Upper Clear Sword Manual' that I taught you must not be lost. Practice well and don't lose face for me, Tongtian." After finishing speaking, a green light also entered Xun Daozi's brow, heart, and sea of consciousness.
Xun Daozi felt the light group that had been transmitted by Tongtian, and knew that he had obtained the secret technique of Tongtian. He was overjoyed, for he had always had a special fondness for Lei Fa (Thunder Method). Previously, he had received Laozi's transmission of 'Tai Qing Lei Fa' (Great Clarity Thunder Method) and Yuanshi's transmission of 'Yu Qing Lei Fa' (Jade Clarity Thunder Method), and after practicing them, he felt extremely excited, thinking that he finally had a powerful attack method with sonic and visual effects. However, he had yet to test it in actual combat.
Now that he had obtained Tongtian's 'Shang Qing Lei Fa' (Upper Clarity Thunder Method), his heart was filled with joy, for he had gathered all three of the San Qing Lei Fa (Three Clarity Thunder Methods). If he could truly merge them into one, their power would surely be extraordinary. Xun Daozi hastily knelt down to thank Tongtian for transmitting the Thunder Method.
Tongtian chuckled and said, "You don't need to thank me, just don't forget about me when you get something good." He continued, "Hurry up and practice first, while I'm still here. If there's anything you don't understand or isn't clear, ask quickly, and I'll explain it to you. Don't wait until I leave and then realize there are things that aren't clear, with no one to ask."
Xun Daozi quickly thanked him and sat down, breaking open the light group in Shi Hai with his divine consciousness. Suddenly, the information of the Tao flashed in his mind, deeply branding itself into Xun Daozi's brain.
Xun Daozi first opened 'Shangqing Lei Fa'...
