Volume 1: Three Clans Dominate the World, Great Calamity Rises; Chapter 99: Jiuli Emperor
Shennong sowed the five grains, and dug up weeds with a hoe. From then on, humans no longer relied solely on fishing and hunting for survival, reducing many casualties. Humans began to enter the era of slash-and-burn agriculture, and food gradually became abundant. However, as people moved through the mountains, they often mistakenly ate poisonous grasses and fruits, causing many to fall ill or die. On the other hand, some who ate them did not get poisoned, but instead felt invigorated, and some diseases were even cured by eating them.
Shennong saw this, worried and anxious, so he made up his mind to taste a hundred herbs, including poisonous ones. If possible, he even wanted to use them to treat illnesses for his people. From ancient times, many plants had been passed down as being able to cure diseases, but sometimes they were effective and sometimes not. Shennong decided to experiment on himself, verifying each one by one.
Shennong had just conceived an idea, and the cinnabar whip and creation tripod that he had set aside began to tremble. Shennong was astonished, wondering if the two treasures given by the Five Elements Taoist were prepared for this moment. With doubts in his mind, he immediately brought the two treasures to seek an audience with his master, Xuandu.
Xuan Du was, at this time, just like the Five Elements Taoist of old, cultivating not far from where Shen Nong lived. Seeing Shen Nong arrive, he knew that he had doubts in his heart and couldn't help but say: "These two treasures are the Cinnabar Whip and the Creation Furnace. The Cinnabar Whip can refine medicine, while the Creation Furnace can smelt medicine. They are essential items for you to achieve enlightenment." After finishing speaking, he let out a sigh in his heart. These two treasures were not given to Shen Nong by himself, but this time, they would have to be divided, and many merits would have to be shared.
Shennong asked a few more questions and then retreated, starting his journey of tasting a hundred herbs. First, he used the vermilion whip to distinguish between medicines, and then personally tasted them for verification. Even if it was poisonous, he still took a taste. Every time he tasted an herb, he would record the medicine, and so on. He tasted seventy poisons in one day, which can be said to be extremely painful. If not for his current status as the Human Emperor, with the imperial purple energy protecting his body, he might have lost his life long ago.
Shennong tasted a hundred herbs, compiled the Shennong Bencao Jing, and used the Huaxian Ding to refine medicine. It has been widely spread, with many prescriptions starting to be promoted among humans. Humans are grateful and respectful of Shennong.
This matter will not be mentioned for the time being. Among the human tribes, there were many clans, including the strong Bear Clan and the Nine Li Clan. At this time, two wise men were born in these two clans, one named Gong Buxuan Yu and the other named Di Ku. Xuan Yu was the son of Shao Dian, the leader of the Bear Clan. He could speak soon after birth and by the age of 15, he was well-versed in agriculture and military affairs. His wife, Lei Zu, taught people to raise silkworms, spin silk, and weave clothes, so they no longer wore only animal hides. Xuan Yu himself used bamboo to make flutes, established the five tones and twelve semitones, and his reputation spread far and wide. After a few years, Shao Dian grew old and passed on the throne to Xuan Yu.
Xuanyuan established the position, with the bear clan greatly developing agriculture and establishing an ancient national system. The land was divided into fields, eight families formed a well, three wells formed a village, three villages formed a township, five townships formed a county, ten counties formed a state, and ten states formed a province. Officials were appointed to manage 120 positions, including the Three Dukes, Four Assistants, Four Historians, Six Ministers, and Nine Virtues.
Thus all the small tribes on the border came to submit.
The Di Ku of the Jiuli tribe was born when the Jiuli people worshipped their ancestors, and he emerged from a wooden statue of Emperor Jiang. Hou Tu Niangniang appeared and ordered the leader of the Jiuli tribe to raise him well, saying that he would become a great sage in the future. The Jiuli people believed that they were descendants of the witch tribe and immediately took care of the infant. When the infant was three months old, he could speak and called himself Di Ku. The Jiuli people were deeply moved by the divine spirit and all came to worship him.
Di Ku was old and also greatly developed agriculture, and used copper to manufacture weapons, armor, flags, and helmets.
The Jiuli tribe thus lived in peace and prosperity, with few cases of murder or theft. At the age of 15, Emperor Zhuanxu took over as the leader of the Jiuli tribe, established a capital city, built gardens and farms, planted fruit trees and vegetables, raised silkworms and livestock, and conducted animal husbandry. He also smelted copper, minted coins, promoted trade, and set up many markets. The power of the Jiuli tribe grew rapidly. At the same time, Emperor Zhuanxu established a capital city called "Ji", and his reputation rose along with that of the Jiuli tribe. Many small tribes with strong blood ties came to attach themselves to him, and for a time, he shared dominance over the Shennong clan with Huangdi Xianyuan, forming a three-legged cauldron situation. Shennong was called Yan Emperor, Xianyuan was called Yellow Emperor, and Zhuanxu was called Wu Emperor. Everyone in the human tribe knew that after Shennong's death, the position of supreme ruler would definitely fall to either Xianyuan or Zhuanxu, but it remained to be seen who would ultimately get it.
Feng Bo (Rain Master) has no fault with Wu Di.
The Jiuli tribe, two people suddenly entered the imperial palace of Du Cheng, and offered sacrifices to Emperor Di.
The Emperor looked at the two great witches in front of him, nodded his head in satisfaction, "You two have broken through to Quasi-Saint, but your strength is unstable. However, with the help of our clan's cooperation and my governance, you will gain some merit."
The two of them heard this and couldn't help but feel a little joyful in their hearts. They had already tasted the sweetness of merit when they were freed from the demon's calamity, and now seeing Emperor Ye arrange for them to obtain merit, they felt deeply moved.
"We're willing to listen to your arrangements, Your Majesty." The two of them said in unison.
Di Ku smiled and said: "This matter should be easy for you, just make the clouds and fog disperse, ensure that my Jiuli tribe is safe and sound, and on the day I attain the Dao, there will naturally be rewards bestowed."
The two of them, after hearing this, did not say another word and immediately hid among the clouds, secretly manipulating the wind and rain of the Jiuli tribe. The Jiuli tribe benefited from this, their agricultural grain production increasing several fold, their strength becoming even more powerful.
In Bayue Palace, Laozi and the original Qi furrowed their brows, calculating with their hands, but there was no reaction at all.
"Shi Yun, it seems like someone has covered up the truth this time." The Original Opening said.
The old man nodded, "It's just that now the human race has given birth to two emperors, but it's impossible to identify who the next human emperor is."
"I didn't think that the third emperor would encounter such a twist, two emperors emerging at once, this time I don't know what to do," said the original, looking somewhat anxious.
"Nowadays, the heavenly machine is being manipulated by someone, and I don't know how to act. I just vaguely feel that the breath of the nine-headed emperor is somewhat familiar."
"Could it be that this person is the next Human Emperor?"
"The heavenly machine is chaotic, I don't know either. The Emperor's body is from the Jiuli tribe, and it's likely that he was supported by the Wu tribe early on. If you ask your disciples to assist him, there may not be much merit." Laozi said calmly.
After listening, he furrowed his brow and suddenly said: "The contribution of Fuxi is in the prior heaven eight trigrams. The contribution of Shennong is in the 'Shennong Ben Cao Jing'. If I calculate correctly, the third Human Emperor's contribution will be to unify the human race, only then can two Emperors be born, whoever unifies will become the Human Emperor."
The old man nodded in agreement after hearing this, "If that's the case, then the merits of this trip will far exceed those of the previous two Human Emperors. Master can send his disciples to take Xuanyuan as a disciple. Since it is a unified human race, it must be killing and proving the way, and its cultivation method can be passed on to help him prove the way."
The original intention in his heart was the same, but he immediately worried: "If I send Guang Chengzi to assist Xuan Yuan, and the Wu tribe assists Emperor Zhuan, this time it will be a confrontation, afraid of not winning."
Laozi said calmly, "Xuanyuan can be helped by the master of Xiantian, and also by Tongtian's younger brother. His disciples are numerous and have considerable strength, all of whom are near the edge of becoming saints. These two benefits will not be refused."
After listening to the original, his eyebrows furrowed again, "In that case, it would require a considerable amount of merit to be divided."
"The younger brother is ignorant, if Xuan Yuan proves the Tao, how great will his merits be? Guang Chengzi as the master of the Human Emperor, the merits he obtains are likely to directly enter the quasi-saint from the later period of Da Luo Jinxian. Even if some of it is taken away by the disciples of the Intercepting Teachings Sect, it doesn't matter, as long as Guang Chengzi doesn't make too big a mistake, the merits he obtains will definitely be many." Lao Zi said.
After careful consideration in his heart, he finally agreed with Laozi's words, swallowed his pride and went to the Biyou Palace.
As for the two Western Saints, the Heavenly Dragon Eight Divisions were once again complete with one more division, also known as Mahayana Buddhism. Now that their vital energy had stabilized somewhat, the two of them felt invigorated and couldn't help but think about dominating the human race.
"Alas, Buddha, can the third emperor of humanity have a good fate?" asked Cundi Bodhisattva.
"Amitabha Buddha, this time the heavenly machine is in chaos, I think it's being manipulated by someone, can't calculate it."
Tara continued to ask: "Then how should Buddhism bring blessings to sentient beings?"
"Huangdi Xuan Yuan is the ruler of earth virtue, and can be assisted by Buddha and Bodhisattva." Amitabha Buddha replied calmly.
Zhun Ti Buddha Mother thought for a moment, and understood the meaning of the Buddha's ancestors. Emperor Zhuan came from the Jiuli tribe, and the Jiuli tribe also believed in ancestral witchcraft, fearing that they would not be able to intervene in the Western world, so they had to support Huang Di and compete with Emperor Zhuan.
