Chapter 6: Black Magic and Chickens
There were four people who came out of the main hall, a middle-aged man with a serious expression, wearing a suit and tie, his hair slicked back, a middle-aged woman with a plump figure and an air of nobility, and two young men and women in their early twenties.
"Brother Ming, sister-in-law."
As soon as he saw the four people walking over, Zhang Guixin was the first to speak up and shouted.
"Gui Xin has arrived." The middle-aged man responded calmly.
"Hehe, Second Uncle is great." The young boy and girl chorused sweetly. Zhang Guixin smiled and nodded, looking a bit embarrassed.
The middle-aged man looked at Jiang Le and found him unfamiliar, asking: "Who is this?"
Zhang Guixin hastily said: "Ming Ge, this is a feng shui master I've invited over."
"What?" Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man's face sank, then he said in a stern voice: "Guixin, I've told you several times already, superstition is nothing but absurd and irrational, why are you still bringing this kind of person into our home."
Zhang Guixin let out a wry smile, he had thought so before, but now...
"Jiaming, I asked Guixin to help me with this. With the way things are at home now, it's not a normal phenomenon anymore. I think it's necessary to take a look at our home's feng shui," said the middle-aged man beside the beautiful woman.
"Hmph, a woman's words. If you had said that several decades ago, it would have been enough to make you suffer for eternity." The middle-aged man snorted.
The beautiful woman was speechless with her mouth agape.
However, a young boy and girl behind them were curiously looking at Jiang Le, constantly sizing him up.
The atmosphere was a bit awkward, and Jiang Le felt that he had to do something. After all, this was his deal with Principal Zhang, and if this matter wasn't resolved, how could Principal Zhang possibly help him get into college?
With a faint smile, Jiang Le said: "It's better to believe it exists than not to believe it doesn't. Uncle, can't you even give me a chance to try?"
A middle-aged man looked at Jiang Le disdainfully. In the eyes of people like them, anything that was mysterious and deceptive belonged to heretical ways and was a deceitful trick.
"Guixin, if you had invited a Taoist priest who looks refined and dignified, perhaps I would have given him a chance to perform. But this half-grown kid, do you think I should trust you?"
Zhang Guixin's smile became even more bitter, people can't be judged by their appearance, after all, he didn't used to take Jiang Le seriously either.
Just as Zhang Guixin was about to explain, Jiang Le waved his hand and stopped him.
He didn't even bother to respond to the middle-aged man, but instead sniffed his nose and observed his surroundings for a while. Then he smiled mysteriously: "The aura of death is very heavy, many domestic animals must have died in this house."
As soon as these words came out, everyone was shocked.
Even middle-aged men narrowed their eyes.
Jiang Le's expression suddenly changed as he looked towards the northwest direction of the house, and said with interest: "Interesting, another one has died."
"It was Guixin who told you, uh, Jinji!" The middle-aged man was about to expose Jiang Le's trickery when he suddenly changed his expression and hastily ran in the direction Jiang Le was looking.
The middle-aged man moved, and the middle-aged beauty and the young boy and girl also changed their faces and quickly followed.
"Could it be the golden pheasant that Eldest Uncle treasures the most?"
Jiang Le smiled and said, "Go take a look and you'll know."
Just as I arrived at the gate of a courtyard, a servant in the shape of a woman cried out in terror: "It's all over! The golden rooster is dead, the golden rooster is dead!"
Go around and take a look, and indeed on a grassland, a magnificent pheasant with colorful feathers lies on the ground, its body already stiff.
A middle-aged man rushed over, picked up the silkie chicken, and after touching it a few times, his face turned pale: "How could this be? The chicken was fine just now, how did it suddenly die?"
The woman servant said in a frightened tone: "I don't know either, from this morning on, the silkie chicken has been lying here and there's nothing unusual. Just now, the silkie chicken suddenly went mad, flapping its wings wildly and screaming loudly. I hadn't done anything yet, but it fell to the ground motionless."
"It's this strange thing again, it's the last domestic fowl in our family, is it going to be human next?" The middle-aged beautiful woman said suddenly with a frightened tone.
As soon as these words came out, everyone's face changed greatly.
"Mom, don't talk nonsense, it's too scary." The young man said discontentedly to the beautiful woman.
"But, however..." The beautiful woman was shocked and at a loss for what to do.
"That's enough!" The middle-aged man calmed down, scolded, and continued: "Jinji's death must not be told to Father, I'm afraid he can't bear the blow."
Everyone's face looked even more unsightly.
In the mansion, who doesn't know that this golden pheasant is Old Master's only beloved treasure, almost treated as his own child. If he knew the golden pheasant had died, the blow would indeed be quite significant.
The girl also spoke up at this time and said in a difficult tone: "Grandfather comes to see the golden chicken every day, this matter can't be hidden for long."
This remark left everyone speechless again.
"Can't we just go buy one and pretend?" The young man said hesitantly.
"No way, Grandpa is too familiar with the peacock, this will definitely not deceive him." The girl shook her head.
Jiang Le couldn't help but laugh at this time. Everyone glared at him with anger, this guy's conscience was really bad, didn't he see that everyone was anxious?
"I say your family is really interesting, this house has been cursed by someone using evil magic, it's going to ruin your family's luck and even harm people's lives. You're not concerned about this, but instead worry about a chicken, don't you think that's putting the cart before the horse?"
"That's enough! The death of the poultry has nothing to do with witchcraft. You're just a young kid who doesn't go to school, spouting nonsense and pretending to be mysterious. Do you want to end up in jail for repentance?" The middle-aged man glared over at him, his noble status evident in his angry demeanor, which was quite intimidating.
Jiang Le sneered, ignoring Zhang Guixin's gaze, and strode over to snatch the silkie chicken from the middle-aged man's hands. With a cold smile, he said, "Since that's the case, I'll let you see the relationship between domesticated animals and evil magic."
After he finished speaking, a small knife appeared in his hand somehow.
Everyone instinctively dodged in all directions and looked vigilant at the sight of the knife.
Jiang Le ignored their movements, turned the brocade chicken upside down, swung his knife and beheaded it directly, with chicken blood splashing everywhere.
"What are you doing? Zhang Guixin, why haven't you taken him away..."
Jiang Le's cruel behavior shocked the middle-aged man into even greater anger, but before he could finish speaking, he suddenly became speechless.
Not just him, everyone present was shocked and covered their mouths, with pale faces.
All that was seen was the overturned silkie chicken, and from its severed neck flowed not red blood, but foul-smelling black water. In the water, there were also tiny, disgusting little bugs crawling around.
"Hmm!"
At a glance, the middle-aged beauty couldn't help but turn around and start retching.
The young boys and girls also turned their heads away, their faces pale, and didn't dare look again.
Jiang Le sneered at the middle-aged man's constipated expression and said: "Do you think now that this brocade chicken has anything to do with evil magic?"
Middle-aged man speechless.
"Never mind, superstition is not credible, let's just pretend I never came."
Jiang Le smiled proudly and threw down the brocade chicken before striding away.
"Hey Xiao Le, don't go!" Zhang Guixin was also frightened by Jinji's appearance, but seeing Jiang Le wanting to leave, he hastily caught up.
"Xiao Le, I've told you before that this family is a bit arrogant. You also said you didn't care about it. How come now that you're being bullied a little, you want to leave? I still need your help." Zhang Guixin pulled Jiang Le back, with a pleading face.
"Principal, it's not that I'm not willing to help. You've seen it yourself, they don't want my help. Taoism emphasizes cause and effect, and fate. It seems I have no affinity with this family."
"This." Zhang Guixin was helpless, he was also a eloquent person, but at this moment, he was speechless. However, he grasped Jiang Le's hand tightly, and no matter what was said today, he couldn't let this kid go.
