Chapter Forty-Four: The Antidote
The sun is high in the sky, even though it's already early autumn, and still makes people feel a bit sweltering.
Mo Dai Fu was in his own room, somewhat restless. Although he had confidence in the technique of grasping Han Li's hand, now that things had come to this point, he still had some misgivings.
Suddenly, a series of footsteps came from afar in the house and were getting closer and closer.
As soon as he heard the familiar footsteps, Mo Dafu was overjoyed and hastily ran to the door, pushing it open with one hand.
A figure slowly walked from a distance, it was his long-awaited target, Han Li.
Watching his opponent slowly approach him, Mo Daifu suppressed the excitement in his heart and forced a smile on his face.
"Not bad, you're punctual. I'm glad to see that you didn't run away with a notice, this shows that you're wise. Now come in, we need to have a good talk."
The doctor's expression at this time was kind and gentle, like an elder from a neighboring family, with a radiant face like a blooming flower.
"Don't worry, nothing is going on inside the house, it's not a den of thieves." Dr. Mo hurriedly explained and made a small gesture to reassure him, noticing that Han Li's gaze towards the house was somewhat alert.
"Hmph! Now that I'm here, would I be afraid to enter your house?" Han Li snorted lightly and seemed to have been provoked, opening his mouth to speak.
Then he took the lead and walked past.
The doctor hastily smiled and dodged to the side, making way for the entrance. Seeing Han Li walk in, he was about to close the door when he suddenly heard Han Li say without turning his head:
"If you dare to shut the door, I will think that you are playing a trick of catching turtles in a jar and won't talk to you again."
The doctor was taken aback for a moment, hesitated for a while, but then left the door and said nonchalantly:
"I'm being sincere with you in discussing this matter, I won't do anything that would harm you. You said don't close the door, then let's not close it."
Mo Dai immediately lay back in his recliner, and Han Li didn't hesitate to grab a stool and sit down across from him. The two hadn't seen each other in nearly half a year, so they took the time to size each other up.
Han Li saw Mo Dafu, who was much more obviously old than before, and with a seventy-year-old old man, there was no difference at all. He couldn't help but mutter to himself in his heart: "Is it true what the other party said before? Did he really just want me to restore his vitality for him without any ulterior motives? Was I thinking too much?"
Han Li glanced around, and suddenly his pupils contracted. The tall, mysterious man was standing silently in the corner, as still as a dead object. If he hadn't deliberately looked for him, he wouldn't have noticed his existence.
At this time, Mo Dafu also looked at Han Li and seemed very satisfied with his condition. He opened his mouth and said in a gentle tone:
"Looking at you now, it reminds me of when you first came in. At that time, you were just a child over 10 years old, only this tall. Now, look at how tall and big you've grown! Time really doesn't spare anyone!"
The other party's casual conversation suddenly made Han Li somewhat bewildered, unaware of his intentions, but at the bottom of his heart, he immediately raised his vigilance and reminded himself that the other party was an old fox who had eaten more salt than he had eaten rice, so be careful not to fall into his trap.
"Mo Lao, I have always remembered your care for me and dare not forget it. If there is anything you need me to do, please feel free to instruct me." Han Li's expression eased up and he used a respectful title, seemingly reverting back to his former obedient self.
"Good! Good! With this sentence, I haven't wasted all the effort I put into you. Come, let me take a look at your Spring and Autumn progress." Mo Tai Fu seemed to have really entered into the role of a benevolent master, standing up and walking over, about to directly take Han Li's pulse.
"Old fox! You really are relying on your age to bully others, with a thick skin to boot." Han Li mentally cursed, quickly dodging to the side to avoid his opponent's claw.
"Ink old, don't be impatient, I can very clearly tell you that my Long Spring skill has indeed reached the fourth layer. However, are you going to give me the antidote for the Corpse Wriggling Pill first? Let me get rid of my worries and then I'll let you examine my skills with peace of mind." Han Li said with a smile, using a very sincere tone.
"Oh! Goodness, look at me, my brain is getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be. I had originally planned to give you the antidote as soon as you entered the house." Dr. Mo suddenly realized, as if he had just remembered.
He fumbled out a silver vial from his sleeve and poured out a black pill, which he tossed at Han Li.
Han Li pretended to be busy, barely catching the dan medicine and putting it under his nose for a sniff. A pungent smell rushed up, and he looked up at Doctor Mo, who was watching him with an ambiguous smile.
He hesitated slightly, somewhat skeptical of the authenticity of the medicine.
But not eating is also not an option, because the day of the Corpse Worm Pill's activation is approaching, and if he doesn't eat it, he will truly lose his life. He thought that since he had paid for it himself and had a use for it, it shouldn't be fake medicine, so with a serious expression, he swallowed the pill and quietly waited for its effects to manifest.
Mo Dahfu suddenly became less anxious, and slowly lay back down to his original position, chatting idly with him in a disjointed manner, as if he had forgotten the ultimate purpose of finding Han Licheng.
Not long after, Han Li felt a sudden pain in his abdomen, but it quickly passed. He hastily examined his body and found that the "Corpse Insect Pill" had dissolved without leaving any residue. His heart was filled with great joy, and a hint of a smile appeared on his face.
These changes, of course, did not escape the attention of Dr. Mo, who had been facing him all along. After Han Li finished checking the medicinal properties, he rushed to Han Li with a smile and said:
"Han Li, if I had to give you the Corpse Insect Pill, it was also an unavoidable thing. If not for its urging from behind, perhaps you wouldn't have been able to cultivate to the fourth layer so easily!"
"Thank you for your kind intentions, Mr. Mo, but next time, please don't use such tactics on me." Han Li had eliminated a thorn in his side and his mood improved significantly, slightly believing in his sincerity, so he didn't continue to counterattack his hypocrisy.
"Shall I take your pulse now?"
Mo said that sentence with a sincere heart, making Han Li embarrassed, who knows if the other party will take this opportunity to control himself.
