Chapter Twenty-Four: Soul-Stirring
Looking at the rabbit in front of him was still constantly growing bigger and continuing to swell up.
Han Li suddenly felt a sense of unease, and he suddenly remembered something. He threw the ceramic bowl in his hand, which was already considered venomous, to the side of the medicine field, turned around and ran, not stopping until he was dozens of feet away from the rabbit.
Just as he was about to turn his head back, two explosions almost simultaneously rang out, one after the other. Han Li's heart skipped a beat and he turned around to see that the two rabbits had been blown to pieces, their bodies torn apart into several segments, with flesh and blood scattered all over the ground. The original place where the rabbits were tied up now had two holes, surrounded by the rabbits' scattered remains, with fresh blood and flesh splattered everywhere, a truly gruesome sight.
Han Li let out a breath and sat down on the ground with a thud. If he hadn't reacted quickly enough, he would have been caught in the blast of the rabbit's explosion. Although it was unlikely to cause serious injury, being splattered with rabbit blood and flesh wasn't exactly a pleasant experience either.
It wasn't until he had calmed down inside that Han Li stood up and walked over to the edge of the pit.
He took a look at the bloody scene and then glanced at the porcelain bowl that had been smashed to pieces in the medicine field, he was speechless.
Han Li thought he could find some kind of panacea in the green liquid, but he didn't expect it to be such a terrifying thing. The poison was just that - poison - but it had killed the rabbit in such a tragic way! He would never touch this stuff again, no matter what. It was too frightening! Han Li wasn't inexperienced when it came to deadly poisons; under the guidance of Mu Dafu over the years, he had encountered many poisonous substances that could kill with just a tiny amount, but none of them had been able to make someone die in such a terrifying way.
Fortunately, Han Li's mental endurance was relatively strong, and he was able to calm down and stay for a while longer in this environment before deciding to leave.
As noon was approaching, he wanted to deliver the prepared secret medicine to Lishi. The aftermath of everything here would be dealt with after he finished delivering the medicine.
With this in mind, Han Li didn't take another look at the explosion site and left all the trouble for later. He returned to his residence, rested for a bit, and then brought medicine to the entrance of Shengshou Valley.
Han Li was very punctual and arrived at the valley entrance right at noon. Lethal Flying Rain, however, looked like he had been waiting anxiously for a while.
He was alone at the exit of the valley, wearing a white brocade robe, but still carrying on his back the long knife that had left a deep impression on Han Li. When Han Li arrived, he was facing upwards with a hint of anxiety, eagerly gazing in the direction of the valley.
Only when he saw Han Li's arrival did he put away his anxious expression, and a slight smile appeared on his face.
"Hey, Brother Han, you're really punctual! You said noon and it's exactly noon when you arrive. I've been waiting for half a quarter of an hour." Lei Feiyu said with a mix of jest and complaint.
"Sorry, I spent too much time getting medicine yesterday and didn't sleep until very late. This morning I got up a bit late, and by the time I finished dealing with everything on my hands, it was already noon." Han Li said half-jokingly.
"Junior Brother Han, the medicine... has it been prepared?" Eldest Brother Li was so anxious that he became a bit flustered and even stuttered when speaking.
Han Li did not answer Lethal Brother's question, but instead smiled calmly and slowly pulled out a palm-sized medicine pouch from his bosom. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the medicine to Lethal Flying Rain.
"Every time you take morphine pills, first rinse the medicine powder in the packet with lukewarm water before taking it, which can alleviate your suffering."
"Thank you, Junior Brother Han! Thank you, Junior Brother Han!" Eldest Brother Li was overjoyed. As long as it could slightly alleviate the pain, it would be a great blessing for him. The pain of taking the Bone Marrow Pill was truly terrifying. He had taken many painkillers before, but none of them worked. Since this Junior Brother Han knew all about the characteristics of the Bone Marrow Pill and had also taken it himself, perhaps his medicine really did work.
"Don't rush to thank me, wait until the medicine is really effective before thanking me. Besides, this is only a year's worth of medicine, I've used up all the medicinal materials I have on hand, and when I gather enough materials again, I'll help you prepare a few more doses." Han Li said bluntly.
"It's alright, this isn't a year's worth of dosage, it'll do for now. Regardless of whether the medicine is effective or not, I appreciate your kind intentions, Junior Brother Han." Eldest Brother Lü had obtained what he wanted and his expression returned to normal, no longer pretending, and very straightforwardly indicated that he owed Senior Han another favor.
Han Li smiled slightly and said nothing more, proactively bidding farewell to Lethal Brother and leaving.
Lifengyu held the secret medicine in his hand and also wanted to hurry back, to try out the effect of the medicine. He didn't detain Han Li again, and the two bid each other farewell and parted ways.
After returning to the valley, Han Li first went to the medicine garden to clean up. He swept all the rabbit's remains, blood-stained soil, broken bowls and other things into the pit, and then used mud to fill in the two earth pits that had suddenly appeared, making this place look no different from before the experiment.
Han Li nodded in satisfaction and patted the dust off his hands, looking around to see if there was anything he had missed.
When his eyes fell on the place where the porcelain bowl was broken, he couldn't help but sink into thought.
He remembered very clearly that when he threw the bowl away, all the diluted clear water in the bowl spilled onto a small piece of medicinal land, wetting several stalks of medicinal herbs. This made him hesitate and wonder if these medicinal herbs would also become toxic after absorbing this clear water? And if people ate these toxic medicinal herbs, would they also end up like the rabbit? Should he get rid of these poisonous grasses now? A string of questions suddenly popped into Han Li's mind.
Han Lisi thought for half a day and decided to wait and see, observe them for a while longer, and only do another small experiment. If the herbs really become toxic in these few days, it's not too late to get rid of them then.
After making up his mind, he looked around and found nothing to do, so he went back to the stone room to practice. He hoped that on the basis of his greatly improved skills, he could make another breakthrough.
Han Li no longer cared about the specific use of this mantra, he had cultivated it into a kind of instinctive reaction, if he didn't cultivate it, Han Li wouldn't know what to do on the mountain, pursuing a higher level of cultivation of this mantra had become his current life's sole goal.
After an afternoon of focused practice, Han Li discovered that he really wasn't a genius. Although he himself felt that he was only a finger's breadth away from breaking through to the fourth layer, he still hadn't made even the slightest progress, having wasted an entire afternoon of bitter practice.
It seems that I won't be able to make it without the help of external forces like medicine, otherwise I will always have the possibility of staying on the third floor and being unable to move forward.
Han Li's heart began to look forward to Mo Daifu being able to return early and luckily find enough medicinal materials to help him break through his current predicament.
