Chapter 22: Takeout Boy
Those love stories that took place in the university campus, have scenes of poignant sorrow where they parted ways with a lingering regret, and also have touching moments where they worked together hand in hand to spend their lives together.
But their love story was neither magnificent nor passionate, just silently guarding each other with mutual expectation, at least with a hopeful gaze.
At noon and afternoon meal times, the entrance of each building has busy take-out brothers who are having a great time, and those shadows coincidentally form a unique and bright landscape. Those brothers don't have good family backgrounds.
In people's eyes, that is called "diligence and thrift", although it doesn't matter whether it's sunny or rainy, delivering takeout and suffering hardships, but compared to those male gods who lock themselves in their dormitories, it's a fulfilling life. It's unknown when Qiu Tao also joined the ranks of the takeout little brothers.
"Hello, what can I get for you to eat?" This was the first phone call Qiu Tao received while working at a restaurant called 'Lan Xuan'.
When he said this, he still had some timidity and dullness, although the boss had taught him countless times how to speak and answer politely.
"Help me deliver two catties of noodles, okay?" A sweet female voice came from the other end, clear and bright, like a gentle breeze with a hint of mischief.
"Alright, no problem, bye." Qiu Tao noted down the order of two bowls of noodles and was about to hang up the phone.
"Dummy, you still don't know where I am, I live in San Zhuang, that's it, bye!" As expected, he is a newcomer and not very familiar with the industry environment.
According to the restaurant's rules, there is a special take-out number. Part-time employees answer the phone and ask for the address, then write down the menu, remember the order number, and when it's ready, the person who answered the phone delivers it. This has been 'Lan Xuan' long-standing practice for many years.
Qiu Tao is a freshman this year, and he has not been familiar with the surrounding environment for a long time after entering school. This time, going to Lanxuan to do part-time job is purely for experiencing life and diligent work and frugal study.
After inquiring many times, he finally found the location of San Zhuang. He found the girl's number and dialed it gently.
"Hey, your takeout has arrived. Would you please come down to collect it?" Qiu Tao said cautiously, afraid of offending the customer, because his boss had told him that customers are gods.
"Uh, I'm a bit busy, can you bring it up for me!!!!!!" The other person's tone was slightly playful, which left him at a loss for words: "How could that be possible? Boys aren't allowed in girls' dorms!!!!!"
"How petty!"
"Alright then, I'll leave it with the dorm auntie for you. You can come down and get it when you're free." Qiu Tao quickly came up with a way to avoid the awkward situation.
"Alright." The other party was also very concise.
Qiu Tao hung up the phone, put down his things and didn't think much about it. He turned around and left, riding the bicycle specially configured for him by his boss.
Among many part-time workers, he came relatively late, so the car assigned to him was also selected from the remaining ones. Of course, it was old and broken, not to mention that it made a clattering sound when running. When riding halfway, the phone rang, which was "Wish Under the Rainbow".
"Dummy, you're the new one, right? Forgot to take the money, huh? Planning on treating me?" The incoming call was from that girl just now. Qiu Tao was a bit afraid of making a mistake, and only realized he had forgotten to take the money when he heard it. Earlier, he had left in such a hurry that he hadn't taken the money, and besides, he hadn't even seen anyone around.
He was speechless for half a day after starting work and didn't know what to do. The other person continued, "How about this? I'll order takeout from you again tomorrow and make up the difference then?"
Qiu Tao naturally couldn't ask for more and readily agreed, which would not only allow him to report back to his boss but also bring in a customer for 'Lan Xuan', what's not to like!
The next day at noon, the girl did not lose her appointment and dialed in the takeout number of "Lan Xuan" again. Qiu Tao, who was responsible for receiving outside, answered the phone again, wrote down the menu, remembered the number and address, but he didn't deliberately remember where to make a "transaction". The location was naturally in front of Building 3.
However, there were a lot of takeaways that day, and Qiu Tao only arrived at the entrance of Building 3 after delivering takeaways to other boys' dormitories.
