Chapter 41: The Sky's Gift of Cocktails
After cutting the cake with Fang Wenke, friends in the bar began their cliquish chat and games, each face wearing a cheerful smile.
I took a big chunk of cream off the cake in my hand and stuffed it into Fang Wenke's mouth, then watched with relish as he smacked his lips in front of me, looking adorable.
Just as I and Fang Wenke were still immersed in the affectionate atmosphere, Zhao Jun walked over, holding a large piece of peeled pomelo and directly stuffed it into Fang Wenke's mouth, squeezing out the whipped cream from his mouth.
Zhao Jun said to Fang Wenke: "Eat! Eat! Eat! All you know is eating! Accompany me to the pharmacy outside to buy some sobering medicine, I see several brothers drinking and don't know east, south, west or north."
"Go!"
Fang agreed with Ke's straightforward response to Zhao Jun, then left me alone at the bar to appreciate the bartender's performance.
After they left, I put my bag on the bar and stood up to pick up my phone from inside the bar.
Just now was too hasty, didn't even have time to look at unread messages on phone.
After opening the phone, things were just as I had guessed in my heart. There were two unread messages from Zhu Yang inside.
First clause: Why did you come back to Changchun again? Aren't you going home?
Second: Why didn't you return my message? Have you started disliking me? I'm missing you a bit now.
I stared at the four question marks in the text message, and it seemed that a nerve in my brain was awakened, shocking me, putting my whole body in a trembling state.
At this moment, I feel a great sense of accomplishment, and this sense of accomplishment comes from the hatred and discontent that has been accumulating day by day, because since breaking up with Zhu Yang, I have lost the kind of pleasure that can be breathed freely.
I've been playing that willing role for too long, so long that I forgot how to resist, forgot how to pursue, and even forgot myself.
And I seem to have understood what it means to be unresigned in love, just like my feelings for Zhu Yang, struggling with his abandonment, struggling with his ruthlessness.
I suddenly feel that the love at this moment may not be love, but revenge, explosion, or ridicule. I need this feeling of trampling on hurt so much because I need dignity.
Although I'm not clear about what happened between Zhu Yang and Li Yue, he actually said with a humble tone that he misses me, this condescending feeling really makes me feel extra stimulated and excessive.
All of this makes me feel that my feelings for Zhu Yang are no longer so strong, at least I don't love him anymore.
I took down my phone which was being charged and deleted the message without replying him.
Nothing is more painful in this world than silent torture, and being entangled in one's own endless speculations. I must let Zhu Yang experience the feeling of being tortured by me as he did to me back then.
I walked back to the outer seat and sat down, but when I turned my head, I saw Li Yue walking in with a cheongsam dress and exposed shoulders, obviously she had seen me at first glance, and I was staring at her.
Li Yue walked over and casually placed her double C handbag next to my canvas tote bag, the contrast was simply pitiful.
She tapped her knuckles on the counter and a waiter quickly walked over, saying: "Xiao Yue is here! Same as usual today?"
"Ah, same old! Where's my brother? Is business bad today? How can such low-class people enter our cinema?"
Li Yue's words were obviously directed at me, but I didn't respond to her because I didn't want to lose my temper, which would have embarrassed Fang Wenke.
The waiter handed Li Yue a colorful cocktail and said awkwardly, "Business is pretty good today. We're booked for a private event and aren't open to the public. The boss has gone out to purchase goods and won't be back until 9 pm tonight."
Li Yue, with her lipstick-stained lips, took a light sip from the rim of her glass and then turned around to face me. She smiled, but with a hint of malice in her voice, said: "The one who booked the private room must be Fang Wenke, otherwise who would invite you? Right, Li Weiming?"
After hearing her words, I really wanted to slap her twice, but considering that there were still many friends of Fang Wenke around me, I must keep calm.
I gritted my teeth and pulled the corners of my mouth up as much as possible, saying: "En, it's Feng Wenke Bao's territory. Didn't you go back to the small town with Zhu Yang? Why are you still in Changchun?"
"Don't you know? This bar is opened by my brother, and my family moved to Changchun when I was admitted to university. Originally, Zhuyang wanted to stay with me, but I still persuaded him to go back and see his parents. You think what I did is right, don't you?"
When I listened to Li Yue speaking, I really wanted to laugh. I only asked her one question, but she had to give me so many irrelevant answers. I know she was showing off her superiority to me, but maybe she still doesn't know that Zhu Yang has already been unfaithful to her.
How I wish I could dig out the text message Zhu Yang sent me and show it to her, to dampen her morale, but the text message has already been deleted by me.
"Ah, I see! So that's how it is!" I replied helplessly.
Li Yue achieved her goal of teasing me and picked up her double C handbag and cocktail, intending to go greet her classmates.
It's not just that she bumped into me, but also knocked over my stall and the diary inside her bag fell out.
Unfortunately, the first page of the diary was spread out on the ground, and the six words "Zhu Yang I like you" were also seen by Li Yue without reservation.
The already awkward atmosphere has become even more unbearable.
Li Yue glared at me with her beautiful, contact-lens-adorned eyes, her gaze piercing as she let out a disdainful snort.
I hastily squatted down to pick up the diary, but didn't expect to be one step too late.
Fang Wenke and Zhao Jun returned to the bar three seconds ago, at an inopportune moment. In the second before I crouched down, Fang Wenke picked up my diary.
I stood stiffly in place, maintaining a half-crouching posture. Fang Wenke picked up the diary and hesitated for two seconds before opening it.
I knew his gaze was fixed on those six big characters, I knew his heart must have ached. And in that two-second moment, it seemed like half a year had passed.
Fang Wenke's left hand was holding a diary, and his right hand had half-covered the first page with his palm. I knew he wanted to turn it over, but he never turned to the next page until the paper of the first page was wrinkled by his palm.
He suppressed his anger, closed the diary and put it back on the bar, then turned around and walked out of the bar.
He didn't slam the door or yell at me, nor did he pull me away. All I saw was something flickering in his right eye.
I stood still, my mind and body torn in two, one half struggling and the other numb.
Slowly, I feel a sweet and pungent rainbow on top of my head, flowing slowly down towards my eyes, face, and nose.
That's the numbing taste of alcohol and the sweet and greasy taste of tangerine, it soaked my face and my nerves.
Li Yue poured the entire glass of cocktail onto my face without leaving a single drop, then she smashed the glass to the ground with a loud crash that jolted me out of my daze.
There are many people around me, and my face is covered with colorful bubbles, while the diary on the bar lies quietly.
