Chapter Thirty-Four

  Chapter Thirty-Four

Ming Lang was stunned for a moment, but Ding Ling just gave him a friendly hug and quickly pulled away.

On the New Year's Eve party on the island, Minglang and Dingling sang a duet of "Missing You in the Wind and Rain", both of them sang very well, and were praised: "Close your eyes and listen, it's just like the original singer." The two people are also handsome men and beautiful women, a pair of golden boys and jade girls, after the party everyone started teasing, saying let the two become a couple.

General Ding carefully examined the bright and clear face, nodded secretly in his heart, not bad, it's indeed a pretty good match. He turned to General Wu and whispered an opinion, and the two people's opinions surprisingly coincided.

The two of them nodded in agreement, "Let's go back and check this kid's file, see what his background and family are like."

The loneliest person on New Year's Eve must be Gong Xi.

Jiuyi had just moved into a dilapidated old building in this shabby alley, which was utterly out of place with the prosperous Macau, only one week ago.

The old building's outer wall was a dull gray, with peeling plaster and worn-out doors and windows that had weathered too many storms, their original color now unrecognizable. In Gong Xi's room, the window frames were warped from dampness and wouldn't close tightly, but the light blue gauze curtains she had recently hung up filtered in a soft, gentle light. Below the window was a small square table, its surface spotless and bare of any decorations. Next to the table stood an iron single bed, its bedding clean and tidy, with a white quilt folded into a neat rectangle on top of the blue-striped sheets, resembling a block of tofu.

The old wooden door was originally supposed to be milky white, but now it has a thick layer of yellowish oil on top of the milky white. There are also patches of age-old stains on the door that make people not even want to touch the door. On the side of the door, there is a thin white line with a small bell tied to it, which makes a crisp sound when the door opens and closes. The bell is light blue and brand new.

Further inside is a small bathroom, an old-fashioned toilet, with a dirty and rusty washbasin and squat toilet, everywhere revealing filth and decay.

In the bathroom, the sound of rushing water was coming out, and Gong Xi's tall and robust figure stood in the small space blocked by the blue shower curtain, making his stature and strength even more prominent.

After a simple shower, Gong Xi picked up a blue towel and carefully wiped the water droplets from his head and body. The reason why everything in his room was blue was that firstly, he liked the color blue, and secondly, because he was currently at sea, the blue color reminded him of the seawater, making him feel like he was always with it, just a short distance away.

Today is New Year's Eve, he doesn't have to worry about monitoring the movements of the building across the street anymore. It's likely that those people won't choose to meet with Hong Kong people on the eve of the Lunar New Year.

He took a can of beer from the refrigerator, sat alone in front of the window, and gazed out at the colorful world outside, separated only by a pane of glass. This was Macau, where people indulged in pleasure day and night, recklessly chasing thrills and excitement, savoring the passion and abandon that sometimes soared to dizzying heights and other times plunged into the depths of despair.

Everything here is related to Gong Xi, yet everything is unrelated. He wants to find the subtle connections from these fine threads and then cut them off from the cocoon.

Today, he doesn't need to do anything, no need to care about everything outside the window, just sit here quietly thinking of his good fortune. As soon as he thinks of that person, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curl up, that handsome guy, who knows what he's doing now. Heard from Ding Ling that due to the typhoon, he was stranded on a warship, and it's unknown whether at this moment he is alone with homesickness or having a happy gathering with the soldiers on the ship.

Jiayu got up and walked to the bedside, picked up the leather bag she had been carrying with her, and took out that old mobile phone from inside.

The only function of this mobile phone now is the album, and Guan Xi tirelessly opens the small icon on the screen thousands of times, flipping through them one by one, and then smiles foolishly to herself.

"Lucky, wait for me, wait until I come back."

"I miss you so much. I really want to hug you, stinky little boy."

Looking at the photo, Gong Xi smiled happily and muttered to herself.
